looking for cheap hotel near wdw
coasterbill replied to Tammy O's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Last year we wanted to go to Orlando and get a cheap hotel too. Normally that's fine... as long as the place is clean if we're spending the whole day at a park we don't care about the hotel. Super 8, Motel 6 and places like that are fine with us on trips where we're never in the room BUT there are some horrible, horrible hotels in Orlando so be careful. We ended up staying at the Metropolitan Resort in Orlando and after one night we ate the cost of the room for the entire trip and booked a $150/night room at the Courtyard Marriott just because of how bad it was. Robb and the other Orlando locals will be more help than me but learn from my mistakes... In Orlando it might be worth it to pay a little more for a hotel that doesn't have a ton of sawdust on the floor (that happened), guys trying to sell you watches in the parking lot (that happened) and black mold everywhere (that happened too, really). Orlando has some awful hotels if you're not careful. -

Thumbs up from me. That barrel roll looks incredibly fun and the helix will likely pack a nice punch. I don't expect Phoenix or Twister but I expect another incredibly fun ride to join their seemingly endless collection of incredibly fun rides. This ride was a perfect choice for Knoebels. -

I just now realized that the OP was Belgian Guy... a 9 time NE accolade winner and one of the game's best active players. That makes this even more ridiculous. -
They could have done this instead of adding a carnival attraction that will do little to attract guests. New paint on current rides would have been a much better use of whatever they paid for looping dragon. To be fair though Rolling Thunder's queue is an eyesore and it did need renovation anyway so re-using it for a new ride and refreshing the area is a very good thing and seems to fall in line with the kind of updates you're looking for.

Gut wrenching Ride

Don't forget the line will be a lot longer too. And no matter what, people hate waiting. ... right, so then they'll upgrade to a skip-the-line pass. Take it from me... "Loopy Ouch", this ride will very likely increase in-park spending. If there's one thing Loopy Ouch knows it's how to increase in park spending. Loopy Ouch Out!

We weren't planning on it but I just asked for a day off from work and we're going to make the 12 hour drive for opening weekend. I've caught the Fury Fever... this thing looks great. Too bad we can't make it to preview night though. -
Your theory is flawed... you forgot to carry the 2. ALWAYS remember to carry the 2 and divide by Pi. Seriously though does everyone see this post? This post signifies that we have hit rock bottom and if the offseason doesn't end soon we're all just completely screwed. You may have thought the low point would be the constant renderings in MS paint of how Cedar Point was going to move the perimeter road to make room for their 500 foot dive coaster, or the complaining about the shin guards on the new Knoebels coaster but nope... this right here is it. We're now debating the practicality of a mathematical theory of airtime all because of some idiotic marketing phrases by the park which we've all decided they now have to live up to. I'm not picking on King of Ka (If I were going to do that I'd make fun of your avatar, Let's go Rangers), we're all guilty of it but if we can just last a few more weeks the offseason will be over and we'll all be okay again.

Or what? The airtime police will come get them? No they don't... it's arbitrary. It's all marketing, not a scientific airtime study. It could be interpreted a million different ways and they can say whatever they want. That's pretty much exactly what I said. It's arbitrary and they can say whatever they want. We're spending way too much time discussing these things as it's all marketing language that means nothing.

Most Disappointing Coaster!

I don't know... that drop off the bridge is amazing. It comes out of nowhere... you're just riding along a flat piece of track and then OMFG! I love that surprise drop, it really catches you off guard the first time you ride it, especially in the second row. -

I just love what they've done with this park in the last few years. They already had a nice park with a world class inverted coaster and a very good Vekoma flyer but to add in massive new rides like Intimidator, Windseeker (I love these, shut up) and now Fury 325, update the entire entrance area, add Harmony Hall, start expanding their previously horrible waterpark, do a complete re-track of their racing coaster and make general improvements everywhere they've really taken this place to the next level and turned it into a destination park. -
They're also saying it's the smoothest coaster in the world aren't they? Both of those things are really opinion based (I guess you could monitor airtime duration but nobody will), so they can really claim whatever they want. I love how even with a claim that arbitrary and stupid they didn't even bother to say "In the Northeast" and had to limit themselves to New England at the risk of just sounding ridiculous. Bow down to the bull... and probably Phoenix. Regardless though, Wicked Cyclone looks flat out amazing. I can't wait to ride it.
