  1. In all seriousness I agree. It's going to look nice, brighten up a very dark area at night and help create a fun atmosphere. I might take it for a spin if I catch it with a short line. I like the addition but it doesn't make any of this any less funny.
  2. Is it bad that I really like Viper? I found it to be quite smooth for an Arrow mega looper and it was actually a lot of fun.
  3. Regardless of the circumstances that may not have even been the parks fault, this is just the most SFA thing ever.
  4. The park needs turning around? Anyway I don't care about Wifi in the slightest. I don't mind using data to post a few pictures of us at the park and besides that why would I be on my phone at a park anyway? Everyone's different but for me this really doesn't matter at all.
  5. Oh my god I'm dying over here. They actually built it in a few hours.
  6. I love Flight of Fear but I think the Kings Dominion version is a lot better than the Kings Island version for some strange reason. I still love them both but the Kings Dominion version is very smooth and the Kings Island one seems much more jarring. In both parks I consider it to be one of the park's best attractions though. It's incredibly disorienting and it's refreshing to see an indoor coaster that actually has an interesting layout.
  7. You're right, but it would be so... so ugly. And since the park is slowly improving I'd like to see them fix up their current ridiculously ugly path before they add more ridiculously ugly paths that people will then complain about.
  8. I just wanted to point out that when Gatekeeper broke it's chain they had a new one installed and running in about 2 1/2 days. So let's all keep that in mind when we laugh at how long this takes.
  9. I could see your argument but they had a lot of people in the park and they tried their best to get some of their best rides open. I say good for them. If trains were close to valleying with people on board that would be a problem but that didn't seem like it was going to be an issue, it was only an issue when they were starting them with water dummies up or sending them empty.
  10. SFA already has one horrifically ugly walkway through an open field with no trees, theming, bathrooms or anything of interest anywhere... why are people clamoring for another one?
  11. Maybe Zumanjaro but besides that and Ka they don't care... the park proved again on Saturday that they don't care about weather when they managed to valley one coaster and stall another one trying to get it to open in 50 mph wind gusts. Great Adventure has the best weather policy of basically any park in the U.S.
  12. Maybe I could have worded my post better Robb because I 100% agree with you and didn't mean to suggest otherwise. My point was just that I think people should ride a coaster before forming an opinion on it. That's all I was trying to say in my post. I'm totally on board with what you said.
  13. I'm not that surprised to hear that. I can't fault Great Adventure at all for yesterday. They tried to open Nitro and apparently El Toro despite insane winds and in both cases the rides stalled / valleyed. I don't totally understand why Zumanjaro, a ride that can't valley and Kingda Ka, a ride that's designed to valley couldn't have opened but I'm sure there's a good reason for it since they clearly did everything they could to try to open everything. The winds yesterday were just nuts. EDIT: Oh yeah... now that you mention that here's a photo of yesterday's valleyed El Toro train from twitter.
  14. To suggest that everyone who ranks this in their top 10 is doing it because they're Carowinds fanboys is unfair. I'm not a Carowinds local, before last weekend I had only been there once in my life and while I haven't ridden nearly as many coasters as some people here I've ridden about 250 and I rank this at #5, ahead of Bizarro, Kumba (barely), I305, Boulder Dash and a lot of other coasters that usually get ranked much higher. Some people like different things. So someone that sets overly high expectations for the ride and then ranks the ride highly is a fanboy, but someone who declares that the ride will not be in an accurate top 10 ranking without ever riding it (like you're doing) has more credibility? At least those people have ridden the ride. It doesn't really matter to me what anyone else thinks of this coaster, I know I love it (and I had low expectations going in) but it doesn't make sense to declare where it does and doesn't belong in a top 10 list without ever riding it.
  15. I agree, but nobody said that. I said it was one of the worst RUN parks... which it is.
  16. It must have made it to the mid course (how... I don't know because it looked like it was going to valley for sure), you can see the approach to the mid course from the station but not the mid course itself. This didn't seem to be a simple case of the ride stopping in the mid course block brake. Given the speed it was going and the fact that the next block was obviously not occupied I think it's reasonable to assume that the ride stalled, it just picked a great place to do it. It was scary how slowly it went through the helix and over the previous hill. And yes, it seems like it was wind related. A ton of rides were closed due to wind. Crowds were pretty light today.
  17. Well today was different to say the least... Zumanjaro, Kingda Ka and El Toro were closed all day and Nitro only made a handful of runs so that was essentially closed all day too. Still, we managed to spend a full day at the park and have a great time, mainly because of Batman which we rode more times than we could could and somehow was just running insanely well, totally ripping through the course and as always was ridiculously smooth in every seat. This ride is absolutely amazing. We also rode Superman, Skull Mountain and Bizarro which were all running well and we did the Safari which is always great. They have a new lion cub at Camp Aventura this year and she's pretty much the cutest thing in the history of ever. Anyway enough about that, the standout thing from today was the Clusterf**k that happened at Nitro. After one of our many rides on Batman we noticed Nitro was opened so we headed over and after a 15 minute wait we managed to get on the train. They had tested with water dummies for awhile and I guess they finally felt confident enough to open it and the full trains seemed to be moving through the course just fine despite the insane winds. When we got on the train they loaded us, gave the all clear and then the train wouldn't move. They told everyone to get off the train and step back into line and maintenance came over, did some work on the panel and about 10 minutes later they were ready to go. So then they dispatched the train... the empty train. As soon as they did that my girlfriend looked at me and just said something along the lines of "Oh no, they didn't really just do that did they?". I thought it seemed like a bad idea but of course figured that the Six Flags maintenance guys knew what they were doing a lot more than a couple of dumb enthusiasts so we boarded the train and sort of forgot about it. All of a sudden one of the ride ops looks to the back of the station in a panic and yelled for the attention of the other ride ops. We turned around knowing exactly what the problem probably was and saw the train start to go up the hill before the swooping turn into the helix and crest the hill at what seemed like 1mph (I think everyone in the station was shocked that it made it... I'm not exaggerating, nobody thought that train was going to make it over), then it went into the helix and crawled up to the mid course where it apparently stopped. My guess is that it stopped at least partially in the mid course which is a miracle in itself because it didn't roll backwards but it didn't make it back to the station. Obviously after watching that they told us they were closing the ride for the day and they let us off the ride. It's too bad we didn't get to ride but it was definitely an interesting thing to watch. I still can't believe they actually sent that train empty. They got really lucky. By the end of the night all 3 trains were back in the station area.
  18. It's not a craving... the medical term is a "Fury Fever". Get it right.
  19. I'd love to get to this park one day mainly to ride Flight Deck. That ride just looks fantastic.
  20. Well then shame on you... I always bring a high-end stopwatch (the iphone ones aren't accurate enough) and time every single dispatch when I go to any park. Then I put it into an excel document and let the other enthusiasts know. You sir need to get it together.
  21. I know where they can find a nice, smooth-riding inverted vekoma train nobody is using any more
  22. I'm not really complaining, just confused because this idea is ridiculous. lol
  23. lol I don't know I just don't get it. I'd much rather they just get rid of it and call it a day, or move it somewhere else maybe but I just think it looks ridiculous in it's current state. I don't care that much though, at least now it looks like they left it there for a reason and weren't just being lazy. Those trains are going to look like death in a few years though if they just leave them on that track.
