  1. In other news they're wasting more money trying to fix this terrible train on Goliath so they don't look stupid when all they need to do is just put the old one that was perfect back on. Here are the new restraints which are very similar to the old ones but now have grab bars for some reason. If Goliath could run like it did a few years ago they'd have a ridiculous 1,2,3 punch with Bizarro, WC and Goliath. Instead they have a great 1,2 punch and 2 horrible boomerangs. We need an intervention... Six Flags New England... I'm begging you. Please. It's okay. We all do stupid things sometimes. I mean yeah, you guys do it more than most people (see Dark Knight Wild Mouse coaster building that had to be torn down... banning someone for taking a picture... those types of things) but still, stop holding onto your pride and just cut your losses. We all appreciate the effort, but every time you try putting new trains on already great coasters you screw it up. Just give up and put the old one back on like you had to 2 years ago.
  2. Don't you guys think it's a bit early to declare this the best ride in the world? lol I'm not saying it will or it won't be but it hasn't even finished construction.
  3. Sorry but not really because Nighthawk's capacity is just a special kind of terrible. With Fastlane Plus it doesn't matter but otherwise not riding this first will mean you'll probably end up waiting over an hour even on a Monday.
  4. I'm no stranger to cheap hotels. On most of our park trips we end up with something like a Super 8 or a Motel 6 because we spend all day at the parks and very little time in the hotels so if it's clean I really don't care. That being said there are some horrendous hotels in Orlando and reviews can't always be trusted. We tried to save money and decided to stay at the Metropolitan "Resort" on I Drive and ended up actually fearing for our lives on multiple occasions. The place was so bad we ended up eating the entire cost of our stay and booking a room at the Courtyard Marriot for $150 per night. We knew we couldn't get our money back (because EVERYONE wants their money back) so we didn't even bother checking out for 2 days just because we didn't want to go back over there and have to go in the disgusting lobby. The crazy thing was the hotel was in a nice area, right in the shadow of the Orlando Eye and next to some great restaurants and hotels but this place was horrific. Apparently there are a lot of other hotels in Orlando that are just as bad so be careful when going the cheap route. I'm quick to suggest cheap hotels for people on a budget anywhere else but NOT in Orlando. lol
  5. Rougarou Update... and apparently they have already done some testing as they show a brief clip of it in the video around the 0:40 second mark.
  6. How many launches are they generally getting between Zumanjaro dispatches this year? I know last year they were only getting 1, maybe 2 when we were there so hopefully they've got it to at least 2 on a consistent basis.
  7. I'm actually slightly impressed that they're painting it. I shouldn't be, but that's about where my expectations are for this park. So kudos to them lol.
  8. Yes... based on our experience last October their policy is "Hey look it's sleeting... LOL DISPATCH". They don't care... at all.
  9. It actually still gets like that on Fright Fest Saturdays. It rarely got that long in it's opening year but it could during Fright Fest or on Saturdays in the summer.
  10. It's sad because back when Medusa was new I remember waiting all the way back to the entrance sign and they would just crank out trains. Trains would generally dispatch while there was a train in the dive loop... it was insane. Operations at this park were terrible back then but they really had it together on Medusa (and Scream Machine but it's an Arrow Looper and those always load quickly unless you're at Great Escape).
  11. I wish Bizarro would stop using the third train. They double stack every single time anyway so all the third train accomplishes is making you sit on the brake run for what feels like an eternity. ... then again since the park is removing El Toro in a few months according to Sfne1313's mom's friend's best friend's aunt's cousin I guess they could put you on it and it could finally start running efficiently.
  12. Poor Carowinds... the media is absolutely relentless with them for some reason. None of these "incidents" are newsworthy. I wouldn't even consider them incidents. We were stuck on the lift of Carolina Cyclone for 20 minutes on opening day... go put that on the news too. There was a video the other day when a local station reported on the Flying Ace Aerial Chase "incident" and then showed video of Intimidator the entire time to make it seem like a huge deal (which it still wouldn't have been). The news sensationalizes things on purpose which is nothing new, but it would be nice if people would start holding them accountable. Lift stops happen every day at pretty much every park, why do they only make the news when they're at Universal or Carowinds?
  13. ... And don't forget that with a Platinum Pass you get early entry to both parks. If you're staying on site at Cedar Point you'd get this anyway but then a Platinum Pass gives you a discount when booking a hotel room (I believe but you may want to double check that).
  14. We're not rude... if we were rude we'd do something like distract a ride operator to tell them they're not doing their job properly while being totally unqualified to actually do their job and having no idea what it actually entails. I don't mean to pile on or keep the conversation but don't throw rocks when you live in a glass house.
  15. Sounds legit. So your "friend" send that to you huh? Are you trying to top your story about being ridiculously rude to a ride op the other day with another gem of a post?
  16. Vortex has a queue that holds approximately six people.
  17. Look at those lights! Twitter Video I love Cedar Fair. Take notes Six Flags...
  18. I love those rides but only bother riding them if I have a skip the line option or if I'm at Knoebels because the capacity is always horrible.
  19. I feel that way with Enterprises... If I were rich I'd buy an enterprise and sleep on that instead of a bed. lol
  20. That would be a really nice addition. It would fit the park perfectly.
  21. I'm loving all of these reports! markysharky17: It's amazing how much I agreed with basically everything in your report. I seriously felt like I could have been reading my own trip report with the only exception being that I actually enjoyed Nighthawk. I agree about Vortex too... I hate standups but I really liked this ride for some reason. partycat: Great pictures! Regarding that picture... I assume you took I-77 through Virginia and West Virginia? If so I agree, that's a beautiful drive. Both are beautiful states. I was suprised to see your review of the flyers because I personally thought those flyers were crap, despite all of the great reviews they get the bumpers were huge. At Knoebels and Kings Dominion I can snap the heck out of them but I got nowhere with these... maybe I'm just out of practice. lol ThemeParkJunkie51290: Great pictures. I know you were really excited to get to Carowinds so I'm glad it lived up to the hype. It's amazing how much this place has transformed in the last few years. By the way I love how as soon as partycat posted about how nobody did Dinosaurs Alive we got 2 Dinosaurs Alive trip reports. lol Both offer very different experiences but I think Fury blows Intimidator away. Some people might disagree though... I think those people are crazy but they're out there. And jarmor is right, ABSOLUTELY ride Nighthawk first. The 3 best coasters in the park, Fury, Afterburn and Intimidator all have great capacities and are all very reliable rides. Nighthawk's capacity is brutal and it's unreliable so make sure you get that out of the way first.
  22. Sorry but assuming this conversation really took place, it does kind of seem that way. If you're that upset about slow dispatches then go through the proper channels and complain about it to guest relations or something instead of telling someone you know how to do their job better than they do. I'm not defending slow operations but I also don't know what their job entails.
  23. That wouldn't matter. Kingda Ka always has plenty of trains loaded and ready to go when it's finally allowed to operate, they could have 100 ride ops and it wouldn't matter because the ride still needs to wait for Zumanjaro to cycle before it can launch and I believe the ride has to wait a set amount of time between launches. They can't just launch the next train as soon as the previous clears the top hat.
  24. Did the eternal flame burn out? Oh well... I guess nobody cares about Son of Beast anymore. lol
