  1. This. Diamondback is a really good ride in the back seat, probably the most airtime I've experienced on a B&M hyper. It rattles a little back there but it's nothing that takes away from the ride experience.
  2. We have plenty of photos and information about Rollercoaster Tycoon 3. It's been released now for over a decade... and it's crap. up RCT2>
  3. I'm sorry I'm always so negative with this park (unless I'm talking about Thunderbolt or Wicked Cyclone of course) but this is why. So they're willing to do a complete re-design and overhaul on 2 trains for a terrible coaster that has no potential anyway but they're not willing to put the old train that they already have back on Goliath when the current train is absolutely horrible, caused the ride to be closed for half a year and the beginning of the next year, has not seemed to improve reliability and has made what many people (myself included) considered the best ride in the park, one of the worst thanks to it's unbearable headbanging... even on perfectly flat and straight pieces of track. They already have a train sitting around that would make this ride awesome... but instead of using it and admitting they screwed up they'd rather go out and buy 2 new trains for the piece of crap with no potential on the other side of the park.
  4. I love the idea, but I'm sure they are liability issues with attaching one manufacturer's ride to another. But we can hope. ehhh... just build it and assume it'll all work out. That's the tried and true Six Flags method when connecting drop rides with other attractions. The state couldn't possibly have any issues with it.
  5. I doubt it's for anything interesting... he's just screwing with us.
  6. I know it's a clone but it's a clone of a really good layout and one that in the dark will be amazingly disorienting. I can't wait for this ride, if nothing else it's an excuse to go back to Hershey and that's always a good thing.
  7. Wow! A Mystery Mine love fest broke out on TPR and I missed it? That's awful. I have it in my top 10 with a track record right around 250 so I'm not missing out on this one. I absolutely love this ride and don't find it rough in any way, shape or form. The theming is great and the finale might be my favorite finale of any coaster. Tennessee Tornado is amazing too though, as is everything at Dollywood. I routinely sip the Dollywood Kool Aid.
  8. This park still sucks but there's no doubt that they're slowly improving and that's nice to see. I loved last year's additions and this looks to be very nice too. Plus... this makes 2 brand new coasters in back to back years! Amazing!
  9. Absolutely! I mean... an impulse coaster right on the beach with not one but (wait for it) (wait for it)... TWO twists! Now that's creativity
  10. I just can't get over this. If your company is bleeding money and you build a new coaster that doesn't fit in at all as an attempt to stop the bleeding a little why would you not advertise it ahead of time? Look at what Carowinds is doing... they're having a special preview event to get people to buy season passes, they're getting all the news stations to hype the crap out of it for weeks leading up to opening day and they're probably spending some actual money on more traditional advertising methods too. If you spend millions of dollars on a coaster you need to hype it up and let people know it exists or you'll never see a return on investment. I'm not saying I can run the marketing department at Busch Gardens or anything but this is simple, simple stuff.
  11. I'm changing my pick... I still think Lakemont is a dump, but the bar for "dumps" has been lowered a ton by Conneaut Lake Park. This park desperately needs to finally die.
  12. People think queue time = popularity and completely ignore capacity. It's an epidemic among enthusiasts. So if a ride like I305 that chews through the line has a short wait people assume it's "not popular with the gp" and if a ride like Volcano which has terrible capacity has a huge line people assume it must be the most popular ride ever. Robb is totally right. i305 is really popular.
  13. This ride is BARELY in my top 20 and it used to be #2. It's a great ride but it hasn't aged well and due to how well it ran in the past I think it's absolutely a bit overrated now. It's still a really good ride though which is why I haven't listed it... With that coaster I expect a great ride and get a really good ride... with X2 I expected a great ride and got a horribly shaky and painful piece of crap that I swore I would NEVER ride again... then 10 years later I did and it was even worse than I remembered. So that has Bizarro beat for me but I think your assessment of Bizarro is absolutely fair.
  14. Probably, not to mention construction costs. This is pure speculation but... As far as BEYOND vertical drops With tall coasters come a ton of supports, with a ton of supports you have increasing costs. B&M and Intamin use thick spines and arch designs that anchor to the ground rather than the supports. This greatly reduces the amount of supports you need. Arches are strong structures... But if it inverts on itself and goes beyond vertical it will need a lot more support because on it's own it's not as stable, and the extra costs probably don't justify it. It may have to do with forces... I'm no expert, but I would think it's more due to the costs of supporting it. As far as vertical drops, if someone wanted to do it they clearly could...
  15. I'd get one just so your assured multiple rides on the parks newest coaster, Looping Dragon. I don't know why but the subtle sarcasm in this post is amazing. +1 to you sir. It's El Diablo now though (I think... who cares?)
  16. I put Mystery Mine ahead of Bizarro (SFNE), Skyrush, Montu and a ton of other awesome rides in the Mitch Hawker poll... so those are my thoughts on the subject. Great theming goes a long way.
  17. I've loved every ride on every B&M invert I've ever ridden. They're awesome rides and easily one of my favorite coaster types. For me (and I'm only counting the B&M's here) 1) Raptor 2) Montu 3) Alpengeist (this ride is amazing, the ending is not too slow and the cobra roll doesn't hurt. Stop whining. lol) 4) Afterburn 5) Batman the Ride (Great Adventure and Magic Mountain) 6) Chinese Fireball 7) Great Bear 8) Talon 9) Silver Bullet 10) Hungarian Horntail
  18. X (and X2). We rode it for the first time the year it opened and then again last year and both times I thought it was one of the most painful, terrible rides I've ever ridden. I ended up in the back row on the outside seat both times which some people have said is the problem but since you can't choose your seat I'm not planning on ever giving this piece of crap another chance.
  19. My home parks (that I actually visit) are Six Flags Great Adventure, Dorney and Six Flags New England. I don't feel that any of the parks have lost their luster and when we go we usually spend an entire day (though we drive by Dorney a lot on the way to other places so we've been known to make random spur of the moment stops for an hour or two where we usually only have time to ride our 4 favorite rides Talon, Hydra, Demon Drop and Thunder Creek Mountain (well okay... our 3 favorite rides plus Hydra because it's on the way). When we spend a whole day at Dorney we always have a great time though and we do it quite a bit. The same goes for Great Adventure, there are so many great coasters and rides that it's hard to get tired of it. I don't care for Six Flags New England but it's not because I've been there too much, it's just a terribly run park. They have some good rides but I just can't get over how awful the employees and policies are. Wicked Cyclone might change that unless operations are so bad that it becomes a once or twice a day ride (which is extremely likely) since I would never get a skip the line pass at my home park unless it was Fright Fest.
  20. There was a second one? I hope they called it "Son of Beast". And yes I do remember that book and I remember liking it. Is that the one where the coaster transported everyone to "Firelight park" or something like that?
  21. I agree... this is actually their mission statement displayed proudly on the wall as soon as you walk into their corporate headquarters. Or more likely they're trying to make a game that doesn't suck and they either don't have the ability or more likely the budget to do so. Either way this game sucks but didn't we all expect this? RCT2 is already awesome, we don't need a new coaster game.
