  1. Oh crap, sorry, with all the Wonderland talk I thought this was a different thread. Sorry about that >.<

  2. Canada's Wonderland does play the Canadian National Anthem around the time the park does open, but it may not always be heard depending on noise and if the speakers at the front gate are working properly. The flags displayed on the entrance represent the 13 provinces and territories in Canada. The other flags at the entrance to the Grande World Exposition of 1890 section off of International Street are replica flags of countries from a long time ago based on the ones that attended World Expositions around that time. Sure, the park could erect an American flag, but they never have in the 41 years of operation despite being owned by American companies throughout its whole existence. Many people know it is and has always been American owned, so having a flag or not having a flag makes no real difference in my opinion.

  3. I haven't been to the park yet this year but I was just dicking around on Queue Times and I saw "Nightwing" listed as closed. Did I miss some news about a new ride (or new name for an existing ride) or is the website just having flashbacks to... like... 2003 and the Foreman Grill era?

  4. So the park has submitted plans to get a permit earlier this week and there is a potential lay-out out there. Because I have trouble finding the actual permits on the website of Rust I drawn the lay-out discussed right now in google maps: Yellow: Buildings Black track: Station and a possible preshow element. Red track: First launch (Vertical upwards) until turntable Blue track: Turntable (Think Pulsar station, so two tracks switching places) Orange track: Second launch (Triple launch) until end. Elements in order: Vertical upwards launch, Loop, Roll, Immelmann, Jr Immelmann, Stall, Airtime hill, Dive (Don't know what that means), Looping into the first set of brakes, turntable, triple launch, Top Hat, Airtime hill, Outward banked stall, Double up, Mid Course Brake run, Roll, Right turn, left Turn, Corkscrew, Final brake. So this is the lay-out how people are currently discussing it. Seems extremely interesting to me, I really hope this is the actual lay-out, as I cannot confirm if it is the actual lay-out, But I still thought it was worth sharing it. It seems to me that Mack really wants to promote the Big Dipper model as a all in package, Like it's an answer to Gerstlauer infinity coasters.

  6. So a park in another country, not even at the edge of the border, near a major Canadian city, sees more foreign visitors than Canadians? Curious where you got that stat from... -- anyways, yeah, what Johnlloyd said. Anyways... back to Kings Island... and editing my post...

  7. If by "Pledge of Allegiance" you mean "National Anthem," then yes, as does every Cedar Fair park I've been to.

  8. Don’t miss your chance to pick up a signed copy of Kings Island: A Ride Through Time on April 29 at the Kings Island Collections gift shop. From 1-3 p.m., you can get it signed by yours truly, PLUS two amusement park industry leaders: Dennis Speigel, CEO of International Theme Park Services, and Mike Koontz, Vice President and General Manager of Kings Island!

  9. This is frustrating because this topic actually is relevant and it would be interesting to be be able to discuss the logistics of it and predictions on how it will play out but it's 2022. It's now absolutely impossible for grown adults to have this conversation without aggressively injecting their own political views into it to the point where it turns into a flame war within like 3 posts.

  10. I just ignored it, John . . . since the poster clearly has not idea what they are talking about.

  11. I went last Friday and somehow Boomerang was open. I got a ride in with my daughter but the ride had an error and the trains couldn't return completely into the station, so it took about 15 mins for maintenance to come, override the error, and then get the trains to move all the way back into the station and then we could unload. It then appeared to be down for the rest of the visit, ha. That ride, man.

  12. Where to even start with this incoherent word salad post. It DOES affect everyone. I am one of its employees, and for the past 23 YEARS I have been paid more to work there than if I decided to work anywhere else. I also live in Orange County, and I cannot afford a $2000-4000 tax bill JUST because #DeathSantis hates gay people. That's what this all boils down to. He wants to grab as much power as possible and does not care who he hurts in the process. I am hoping that Disney with its massive wealth and power does not blink and instead supports whoever runs against this lunatic. This meme sums it up perfectly:

  13. Too bad they went with yellow as a primary color on WW, with RR sporting the yellow supports right next door. Doesn't stand out as much as it could.

  14. ^ Heh heh, maybe they'll enclose the whole thing, like they did/do at Walibi Belgium. Switch track added, sounds good. EDIT To Add: On second thought, that would be a hell of an eyesore, if done that way. Not in Knott's. Best left open and exposed. "Might of been fun." to see how they'd handle Jaguar's "threading the needle" so to speak ...? Big ole hole there, right.

  15. The difference is Thunder Road was an old (and fairly boring) coaster that hardly drew a crowd. Nobody really gave a hoot that it got the axe, save for a few of you weird ones. Xcelerator is iconic to Knott's and is extremely high-thrill. You can't think about Knott's without associating Xcelerator with it. Yeah it's short but it packs more punch in those ten seconds than I did on prom night.

  16. I’m not sure if this got posted with all the giga hubub going on but here’s a pretty cool video about Xcelerator’s new paint job!
