  1. They've had Quick Queue row requirements for some rides for years.

  2. We were at the park last Saturday. We actually didn't get there until about 3 (you can read about why on the BGW thread if you care) and they were only open until 8, but since we had been there before and didn't need to get on every little thing and had FL+ we were able to do everything we wanted. It was not as busy as I would have thought it to be for a Saturday but it did close kind of early and it was a pretty chilly, breezy day. I thought the jungle retheme where Tumbili is was fairly nice looking, my son kind of thought it "eh". He rode Tumbili, it's too much flipping for me. He did say that it flipped way more than any other free spin he had been on. Racer only had the blue train going anytime we were near it, Dominator was dead most of the time we were there and of course water rides weren't open for the season yet. We got in line for I305 about 7:50 and got a ride on what would have been the second to last train of the night but as we approached the station after the brake run the ops got a no go light on the other train which was in the station; so, they kicked off those riders and sent them out which kind of sucks cuz it was after 8 by then so they couldn't get on anything else but of course that's the chance you take. Anyway now the ride is down, one train stuck in the station and one train with us in the front row and two other people in the back row stuck out on the track outside the station. After 15-20 minutes of messing with it they finally put the first train in some sort of maintenance mode to get it slowly pulled part way up the lift hill so they could get us into the station. There were about a dozen higher ups and maintenance people by the time the 4 of us were able to get off. I have to say even though we have done many many events and left parks very late I think that was the most deserted theme park I have every walked through on our way out. The jungle theme is much more intense when it is dark and the jungle drum music is blaring and there is no one else around, lol!

  3. No no no no no. Wrong. Not being honest with people is exactly the kind of shit getting people hurt. The fear of hurting someone's feelings, or being labeled as a "fat shamer," could have very well contributed to what did him in. In certain circumstances, "facts don't care about your feelings" absolutely applies. I have. I've seen people make scenes and yell at ops on multiple occasions.

  5. I wasn't sure since the only other time we were there it was for Con and didn't need QQ due to ert so thought I would post it just in case people didn't know.

  6. So we were at the park last Friday and Saturday. Short trip report: Friday was kind of a rough day Pantheon was down all day, one of the trains spent most of the day stuck on the first launch and only starting some testing about an hour or so before the park closed. Griffon of course wasn't supposed to open but was testing and training all day Friday. Skyride was closed and at one point in the early afternoon in addition to no Pantheon, Griffon, and Skyride; Apollo, Tempesto, and a couple of flats including the drop tower were all down. And of course none of the water rides were open for the season yet. So much so that we actually went back to the hotel for a break and ate dinner outside the park which is most unlike us. Came back for the last couple hours and caught a few night rides including all 3 "stories" on Verbolten. We were planning on going to KD the next day but delayed it and went first back to BGW hoping to catch a ride on Pantheon and Griffon. Got there at open, neither running despite it being the day Griffon was to debut for the season. Did a few things and had a bite to eat and we were just about to give up when we saw that Pantheon had riders, rushed over, apparently it had JUST opened and got a front seat ride with about a 30 min wait which was up to 60 when we got off. Definitely an awesome coaster and backwards air time is super fun. Who knew, lol. Since we had purchased the higher level QQ that included a one time Pantheon ride for Friday but couldn't use it since it was down all day the park did give us 2 one time skip the line passes which we used next to get a second ride. Finished there about 1:30, did one more quick check on Griffon but it was still closed, testing but closed and the whole path to the station was blocked by benches. I have no idea if it ever opened Saturday or not. Skyride was working on Saturday. At this point we took off for KD so we could at least catch the second half of the day there. And while this is probably of little interest to most of the thoosies on here, the lorikeets were never out which was an extra bummer for me. However the park had all it's spring flowers going and looked awesome as usual. One thing we ran into and I have no idea if this is the norm or not; they had rows dedicated to QQ only so if you do get QQ you will most likely get assigned a row. It was row 2 on Apollo, row 5 on Invadr etc etc. Which means if there were no QQ people that row just went empty. Dunno doesn't seem the best way to do that to me but whatever, I was just posting for anyone contemplating buying them so they are in the know.

  7. Roar opened today. The park seems to be doing pretty well, the ops are fantastic this year, super nice and lots of interaction with guests. I've always thought the ops here, if not always the fastest, interact with the guests a lot more than other parks I've been to. Batwing wasn't open but it was good to see them working on it all day. Everything else was open.

  8. This has been a thorn in my flesh since year 2 of them being installed in 2016. lol Zephyr's programming is so horrible. Its the shortest ride I have ever been on, on a wave swinger. Is def slower than the other and it literally struggles it just shoots straight up trying to gain speed while in the teeter totter position. As soon as it gets going it comes back down. Flat rise cycles at Carowinds have always been the downside. I know its for capacity and all but can we enjoy the ride we stood in line for. Electro Spin has been NEURTERED is very slow compared to Samurai at Lagoon and Shockwave at Canada's Wonderland. Knott's programming is tired so I didn't ride it when I visited. END OF RANT lol

  9. Florida doesn't have enough control over social media and other major information outlets to launch that kind of cover-up. The state, and individual investigators, have a lot of liability if they get things wrong. Comparatively, there's not enough money, politics, or social influence potential in Icon Park for the effort. Sad indeed, but undeniably so in part because people can't talk about certain things, despite their logical application, without taking it personal or being offended. I can't think of anything said here that has been over-the-line. The incident itself seems strongly related to body type, whether the possible fault of the ride operators (unlikely to an extent), policies (or lack thereof), and/or ride design. Don't factor in his personal lifestyle choices that lead to his body type. If it were an overly thin person, and the accident was related to that, the conversation should be the same. Don't manufacture a prejudice that currently doesn't exist here. As far as some other obnoxious users on social media, I don't know why you would let idiotic comments effect you so much. If it does, they're obtaining their only goal, which is eliciting an emotional response from you and others. You have to let it go, or you'll eat yourself alive. In any applicable situation, if I'm a ride op, not offending anyone is second to death. Curse at me, call me garbage, threaten to harm me... I don't care. Feelings set aside, you're not getting on this ride, because I care about you as a fellow human and don't want you to get hurt. Despite the gripes, I don't think that's ever a bad thing. I think the primary purpose is typically another failsafe of determining which body types are unable to safely ride. I'm a fan of this, extra load time, train stacking, and convenience set aside. These are all just stupid rides made for entertainment, who why not make them as safe as possible. (to an extent) I always rolled my eyes at people who cried about seat belts, or even vests. 99% of these complaints come from hardcore enthusiasts, and I doubt the target customer couldn't care less.

  10. I read yesterday that Hansa Park have retrofitted their drop tower (which is almost identical to Icon Park's, including the tilting seats) with seatbelts now.

  11. ^ yeah. . I've seen it multiple times. . someone refusing to get off a ride (and causing stacking of the train behind them) almost "always" with claims of "I just rode this earlier today/last week/last month" .. and often ending with cussing at the employees trying to help get the restraint to close.

  13. Today I visited the park again after the winter break, and today was a mixed bag of opinions mashed together that I have to talk about it someway. So the virtual queue system is still in play but single rider and fast pass are also in the mix. If you're early in the park just don't even bother with virtual waiting, take the single rider line and you can still sit together as the masses group before the ride and the park employees can't keep up the scanning fast enough. I got 2 rides on Untamed in about 10 minutes. Also if you're alone there are about three rides that are only accessible with the system (Xpress, Rio Grande, Crazy River) the rest you just jump into single rider queue no problems. A lot of rides had downtime throughout the day, but for what I can tell most where quickly solved. There is however one ride not open at all, Xpress a train had stalled in one of the corners during morning testing I presume, it was extremely cold for the time of the year with temperatures near freezing point. I was shocked but pleased with the fact almost everything was open didn't expect that yesterday. Last post I talked about the winter upgrades of this year and they did happen. Happy to say this time it was okay, not good but also could have been way worse. Basically the entire area has been made in Lost Gravity's image continuing the Yellow and Black theme of the ride and the random objects scattered about on the rides. Crazy Rivers actually got some electrical post and pipes added on the station but the old station is still there mostly complete. End of the day was a complete mess. I bought a parking ticket on-line and when I got to the exit of the car park I was told my ticked was invalid and so I pressed the intercom to get a hold of someone. After having to press that button three times without answering on the other side I decided to call customer services and told them about my problem, when we spoke a second and third car already started to have the same problem, the promised me someone would come and I asked the third driver (second drove away) about the ticket he had, also like me a on-line one, other cars came with tickets bought at the park or gifted or annual passes and they all worked fine. after half an hour I called again as nobody had come, they told me they worked on it and by that time they told me more people already called as by this time a fourth car had arrived with the same problem (also on-line ticket). Already losing patience I waited an additional 15 minutes before a fifth car with the same problem came around and called again this time I was actually starting to lose my cool and told them I waited for 45 minutes and no communications or anything and there where now four cars all with the same problem here and nobody told us anything then to wait. They informed me they opened the exit up to let cars pass and I answers them, I saw for about 2 seconds each time, we couldn't even react to that as we all gave the people who could leave the space to do so. While I had them on the phone a sixth car arrived to add on the growing pile and I asked them if it was so difficult to send somebody over to check on the situation or to just open the exit for a longer period of time so we could all leave. Again they told me somebody would come. 15 minutes later I started to get angry and was about to block the exit till I got help and when I made the move for my fourth call there finally came somebody to help. Keep in mind I had to wait a hour for help here, I cannot say anything good about that, the park did offer compensation with a free ticket so I did get that but again, don't let people wait a hour for a simple fix. I never experienced anything like this before and I hope I never will again.

  15. If your going to buy the flash pass. I would head to the back of the park first ( at opening, 10 00) and get multiple rides for the first hour. Then as crowds start filling in use flash pass to ride what you want.

  16. Well, the commercial was released, a friend saw it and was kind enough to email it to me, since David and myself hadn't seen it, yet. Kind of sorry to hear only one line from me, but it's The Punch Line to it all... "That's not an A&W Burger." It wasn't, and I got The Real Burger at the end of my shoot; as did everybody else in this one. Hmmm. 8 of us picked, out of 40+ who showed up...? Lucky me and us! Here's the link to the commercial and other A&W commercials of the past: (Um, my friend paused it at where I showed up. So you have to restart the vid. No big deal.) My 2 seconds of burger fame. Impressive, huh? I even, sort of, match the food truck! And what I was wearing, was my 700+ Coaster t-shirt! (In golden) And I had The Punch Line, to the whole thing, HaH!
