  1. We just got back from the world's newest theme park and America's only park dedicated to Peppa Pig! Check out all the rides & attractions along with riding along with us on "Daddy Pig's Roller Coaster" which we nicknamed the "Maverick of Kiddie Coasters" since it has a lift hill AND a launch! Watch the video here:

  2. I get that, remember retired teacher here.......but most Six Flags parks are in major metropolitan areas with thousands of schools within 60 minutes. HW is in the middle of a cornfield and other than Evanstan which is pretty small the closest cities are Evansville and Louisville, both about an hour (which would be a 2 hr round trip for a school field trip) and several dinky little towns within that hour. Indianapolis and St Louis are too far for a school trip. Maybe Bowling Green but that would be a 3 hour round trip, pushing it. Now I get that it is a smaller park than most SF parks and so proportion of crowd to ride is a major factor here. Anyway that is why I was asking specifically for HW as I am trying to gage how big a crowd this will be and if we will be better toward the end of the day as I suspect.

  3. When has there ever been a case where what happens at a six flags park be what to expect at holiday world lol?!?

  4. Hi, I've composed this little piece as a soundtrack for a family friendly, fantasy themed dark ride, and I'd like to know what you guys think about it: Cheers!

  5. I haven't really heard of that. There are some decent in room babysitting options in Orlando with reputable people that will watch your kids while you go hit up the parks.

  6. Yeah, I was about to say it's kinda unfair to judge what Herschend can do with this park during these unprecedented times. However, how long have they owned wild adventures?

  7. I've never seen childcare offered in my experience but SeaWorld and Busch Gardens do offer day camps in the summer and over spring break. They seem pretty fun, if I lived closer I'd probably put my kids in it try try it out, but that may or may not work for you. Here's a link to the camp pages, they're a week long, Monday through Friday, around like 8am to 3 pm. A full week at just SeaWorld or Busch Gardens might not be ideal but I could see someone doing a week in Orlando and dropping the kids off at SW in the morning while the adults head off to spend the morning/afternoon at Universal or Disney, then pick the kids up and do whatever in the evening. Hope that helps. https://seaworld.com/orlando/educational-programs/day-camps/ https://buschgardens.com/tampa/summer-camps/

  8. the Peppa Pig park, that Robb & Elissa just visited seemed to have a big room the kiddos could hang in and watch cartoons all day. but I'd be really surprised if any "big" park was offering this option in these Covid times. . any location would kinda like be a giant petri dish for the kids, I'd think. maybe something to consider to bring along a "sitter" or "nanny". .. even a neighboring teen, who could be plied to come along and ride what they want during the times y'all are with the kiddos, and then they take over to let y'all ride the bigger stuff in the afternoons?

  9. You mean the list of companies that is splattered across every single page of their website? Must have missed it.

  10. ^ That's what I've been doing the past 3 days. There are locals with well over 130 rides on it already. I finished today with 75 for 3 days, not counting my lovely 1 ride on Sunday.

  11. Moose on the Loose is a ride at Darien Lake, similar to the dino thing you are riding.

  13. I wouldn't count a walk thru event as opening. Usually things are still being brought to life and the park generally opens a few weeks later. Just gives fans a chance to see the behind the scenes things and ask questions and usually have some type of lunch involved.

  14. I think they are open on March 5, but I don't think anything will be open... Agree that it's kinda strange that they haven't put anything out yet. I'm not sure Herschend knows what to do with this place...so far they've added Cinnamon Bread and updated the website...

  15. This is very interesting: https://basentinel.town.news/g/broken-arrow-ok/n/65448/market-study-likely-bells-property-amusement-park-not-guaranteed The owner's of Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is the entity actually behind all this. With all the backlash against Bell's, they are taking a step back and re-evaluating if Bell's is quite what they want to do or open it up to other developments. Robby Bell really dropped the ball on this as usual. The neighbor concerns were never addressed and now his backers are having to come out and slow everything down and take control from him. His communication with everyone is so poor and he has no business sense. I feel sorry for him, but damn, after 15 years you'd think he'd be ready to handle some of this. If we get a nice outdoor mall with a few rides, that could be a good compromise. I still want the amusement/water park though obviously.

  16. See if you can fly to Reus, Ryanair and a few European budget airlines go there, and it's literally a 10-15 minute taxi drive away from the park. If not, it's an easy train journey from Barcelona by train. I have stayed at the Gold River hotel and actually really liked it. Not sure about the PortAventura hotel. The theming was really nice and it has its own entrance into the park, but it wasn't really possible to go to other hotels in the evenings (like I normally do at Europa or Disney). I think if things go your way you can do the parks in two days, but the operations are very unreliable, so it depends when you are visiting and how much time you would normally spend eating, watching shows etc (some of the shows are good), so maybe 3 days if you aren't on a tight schedule and you're not likely to visit again for a while.

  17. PortAventura is super easy to get to by train, it has its own stop on the train line. So you'll just have to taxi from the airport to the main train station in Barcelona. I would plan at least 2 days at the park, or 3 if you want to hit the water park. I would also suggest staying at one of the on-site hotels as park admission is included if you stay there. The park also has express passes you can buy, which I would suggest getting at least one of the days of your visit. I would check out the park's english website as it was very helpful when I was planning our trip back in 2019.

  18. In my opinion, this was never a serious offer. I think this was financial publicity for Sea World. A chance for them to say "hey everyone, we've got lots of available capital and we're doing great! "

  19. Hi Hoosier Dude, I believe we've seen your updated review on Google. I apologize that we didn't update our response until just a few minutes ago (Google doesn't put those in our "new reviews" section). I just want to express that our team puts our hearts and souls into what we do. When a ride goes down, we will spend what it takes to get it back up and operating safely as quickly as possible. Right now, we're at the mercy of a mess of a global supply chain--both with food and ride parts, but our team is going above and beyond in so many invisible ways to get rides back and food in restaurants this year. I'm proud to be a part of that team. That said, the days of your visit were particularly unlucky days for our maintenance team. We'd like to find a way to make your experience better, but we need to be able to converse with you in an appropriate forum--would you mind sending us an email at comments@holidayworld.com?

  20. ^^ I like that policy at Dollywood. If you can't secure your restraints yourself - get off and don't delay the dispatches.
