  1. Today
  2. Dorney's Haunt is always solid (for a park haunt), but this year you've gotta pay extra for the haunted mazes (scare zones and shows are included in admission). I've never been to Hersheypark's Halloween event ("Dark Nights"), but I will be on the 19th/20th, so I'll be able to provide perspective then, and I've never been to the NY parks for their Halloween events. EDIT: I just noticed that you said your daughter was "just old enough" to start going to haunt-type stuff, so I'm going to guess in the 13-14 year old range (or younger). In that case (especially if younger), I'm going to suggest that you actually start out with a park-based haunt and see how she does before taking her to any local independent one. They are definitely going to be more intense in every way. I'm going to leave the below text for reference, though, just in case you decide to take her to one of these too. I can universally say that you should check out local, independent Halloween attractions though - they are almost all better than what Cedar Fair/Six Flags parks have done. I don't know of any in NY, but this website can help you find some: https://www.newyorkhauntedhouses.com/ I have been to a few that are within your "3-4 hour drive" limit, and here's my mini-reviews in order of awesomeness. Pennhurst Asylum in Spring City, PA (4 hours) I visited this attraction on October 26th last year and had hands down the best haunted walk-throughs I've ever seen. Absolutely everything was incredible here and it is well worth the price; I can't say anything about it without spoiling it. It is just absolutely incredible and makes any Cedar Fair haunted attraction look like it was put together by elementary school kids. VIP skip-the-line tickets are highly recommended because this place gets PACKED. I cannot say enough positively about this place. Field of Screams in Mountville,PA (4.25 hours) I visited this park on Halloween Tuesday in 2023 as the second ever "local haunt" I had been to and it absolutely blew me away. From the animatronics, actors, set design, everything was just awesome. Shocktoberfest in Sinking Spring, PA (4 hours) I visited this attraction on November 8th last year, so outside of the main season, and it was very cool. The enthusiasm out of the actors was great, with long mazes with elevation changes and spectacular animatronics There's also Reaper's Revenge in Blakely, PA (about 2 hours from Syracuse) that I've never been to. Mind you, all of the ones I've listed and most of them in general do not have rides or games (or sometimes even more than basic food) available, so if you're looking for the park experience too, than Dorney and Hershey are your best bets.
  3. Going to move this to the main board as we don't have a ton of experience with the Northeast Haunts. Also, you may get more responses if you join the Theme Park Review facebook group and ask there! That being said, if I was to choose a first haunt for my kid in that area with what you listed I would go for Hershey.
  4. Siren's Curse is very good. I would say top 3 or 4 depending on who you ask. Truthfully if it was longer would have a chance to even higher then that.
  5. Last week
  6. I visited the park on Tuesday to get my final flume rides in. Even with the ride closing, it wasn't more than a 5 minute wait. I was planning on getting more than 3 rides in but I was soaked and had enough after that. I will miss the ride as it's my favorite non coaster ride in the park and hope a new water ride is added. With tidal wave removed around 8 years ago and now the flume going, 1 water ride is not enough for a park in Florida. Sheikra was closed and the person at the entrance said it was unlikely to open the rest of the day. It's been having some more downtime than usual over the past week. Cobra's Curse was only running 3 trains. The posted wait was 5 minutes but it was probably closer to 20 with the line barely moving. Not that 20 minutes is bad for Cobra's Curse but it was the same 2 weeks ago with a 10 minute posted wait and probably a 30 minute actual wait so I would not trust the wait time sign (that could also be said for most rides in the park). Iron Gwazi is running 1 train and had a posted 45 minute wait 15 minutes before closing. I didn't wait as I was concerned by the time I exited the ride, the stores would be closed and I had another $20 in Busch Bucks to spend. From the Sky Ride, you can see 1 of Cheetah Hunt's trains stuck on the MCBR. It had been like that for a while but supposedly was moved yesterday. 2 of the kids rides that were removed from Pantopia for Phoenix Rising are being re-installed where the RC boats and monster trucks were, next to the bumper cars.
  7. ^ Oh, I so wish we could go to this. Next year. July 2013 ~ David's and my last trip to TDLR, with TPR ~ The 'Cape Cod' Photo by David.
  8. One attaches to a gold pass, the other to prestige.
  9. The 2163 is in meters, indicating 7096 FT. The thermometer reads 103°, this could only mean one thing- drop angle! The man in the suit I'm not sure about. Edit: I should have realized this. The 2163 is Husain Bolts bib number from the 08 Olympics. The man in the suit is Robert Wadlow. Tallest and fastest Dive Coaster.
  10. the clock is upside-down. . . so the time shown on it is 9:25. the date of the announcement (with Jeffrey, you *always* have to look carefully, as he tosses in lots of red herrings).
  11. 355 feet tall? 3 minutes 55 seconds also came to mind but that seems less likely. 2163 would be really short as far as length goes, so I'm not sure what that is. We have a dive suit (duh), a Spanish flag (location), a bull, and the Matterhorn (the mountain, not the ride, so maybe a nod to B&M?).
  12. hmmm. .. this is teasing "beyond Vertical" drop. that thermometer is showing over 100 degrees. guess we'll see!
  13. You're right. When I open my 2026 pass and explore add ons it only offers me 2025 plans. Very odd. I have to navigate separately on the website to find the 2026 plans. I wasn't paying attention to the dates because why the heck would you add anything but 2026 plans to a 2026 pass? Anyway, gold and prestige meal plans are the same price and seem to have the same wording. Is there a difference I am missing?
  14. Latest clue to the specs of our new Giga-Dive Coaster! Courtesy of Six Flags Over Texas!
  15. Yeah, you're looking at the 2025 Pass add-on, not the 2026 Pass add-on, which is what everyone was talking about. You want this page:
  16. Clearly says 40+ Parks in 2026...... 2026 2 MEAL ALL SEASON DINING - ALL PARKS* GOLD Add All Season Dining for All Six Flags Parks* Enhance your visits and enjoy a meal every time you visit now through the end of 2026 with All Season Dining! Max of 2 meals per day. Only a 4-Hour interval is required between meals. Drinks, snacks, and desserts not included. Dining Plan added to a Pass is only valid at Home Park Complex in 2025, and at all 40+ parks in 2026. Not valid special ticket events.
  17. It very clearly says it will only work at legacy Six Flags parks. We rarely touch water parks. If Cota isn't open, we will likely replace it with a lengthy detour to Magic Springs in Arkansas and adjust the park order accordingly.
  18. you should adjust that slightly: Start at SWSA, then SFFT, then Schlitterbahn (which you pass on the way towards Austin, in New Braunfels - I suspect COTAland won't be open yet, so you will likely have a free day to visit one of the best waterparks in the USA)
  19. I was just at SFOG on Monday, and they had in park electric signs (ie: advertising) featuring Peanuts characters. (Charlie Brown, Woodstock, and Snoopy). over by the Theater next to Monster Mansion, and across from the Mine Train. it was so noticeable, I even pointed it out to those I was there with.
  20. The all parks dining works at all parks in 2026 just like the product title and description say.
  21. When I went to add dining, it was insistent that the plan would only be good for legacy Six Flags parks so I didn't. If it was good for legacy Cedar Fair parks, I would definitely have added it on. We will have at least eight days in Six Flags parks next year (road trip: SFFT --> SWSA --> CotaLand --> SFOT --> SFFC --> SDC --> WOF --> SFSL & a separate trip of two days at CP), but four of them are legacy Cedar Fair.
  22. Supposedly the Peanuts license for the chain concludes at the end of this year, with an option to extend it to 2030. No one really knows if they have extended it or not, and with the doom and gloom surrounding SFEC as a whole, people are speculating that since it's supposedly cheaper to rebrand everything to Looney Tunes (or just de-brand everything), that's what they're going to do. It's just more frustrating speculation based on rumors and hearsay if you ask me. IMHO, if they were going to let the contract expire, they wouldn't have installed Peanuts-themed things this year, but I'm not an "industry insider" who gets paid by generating clicks on my videos/articles, so what do I know, right?
  23. If you get paid peanuts you have no incentive to stick around.
  24. Not to derail this conversation about passes. Seems like i missed something that people keep saying Peanuts characters might be leaving cedar fair parks? I rad that they own the rights till 2030 for now? Not sure if i missed something else.
  25. Closing Day at The PNE Monday, Sept. 01 My last visit to The Fair, was also it`s last day of operation. And like Opening Day, I didn't have any need to revisit places like the Barns, or Super Dogs etc. I almost talked myself into seeing "For The Love of Drag" one more time. But I didn't go. Mainly, I wanted to try two edibles, that I'd missed in past visits... Japanese French Toast and Fish & Chips. And I picked up some more kettle corn and fudge. Both too good to pass up. I decided to come in "the back" way to The Fair. Through Playland, of course. Then I saw this - and gasped - this is the queue for Coaster?! Turns out the actual queue hadn't opened yet. And the line started moving once I passed through it. Amphitheater and ThunderVOLT for one last look. For those who want their inflatable hammers, in pink. A final WHEEEE! The Kettle Creek Mine Coaster is fun for adults as much as it is, for the kids. One of the "extra rides" in Playland. Whatever this was called here, it's still a Round Up to me. And a Himalaya behind the Round Up. That's 2 extra rides. And finally, an extra ride for the kids, and Extra Ride #3 .. the Tilt-A-Whirl. And that was it. Noted. Bought my BRIGHT Kettle Corn! Outdoor light was playing with my camera's settings. <sigh> Uh ....no. From Tornado Potato..... to Rotato (&) Potato. Mostly poutines, here. Here's my first thing to enjoy (I hope). How to put one all together. I bought the Half Serving. It looks like the Full Serving, but there were only two "toasts" in this, compared to four in the other. Extremely messy, but really, really good! Will look out for it again, next year's Fair. I also skipped the booze and had myself an iced coffee. Giant whatchamacallit dancers, I think, strolling by. And after a while, I headed over to this. For this. Two pieces of cod, seasoned fries...and still with the iced coffee. And it - was - excellent. The fish was perfect. And the seasoned fries were awesome! Even without a condiment on them This is around every year. And although it's about tunneling, it always looks like a mandala to me. And then into The Market, bought the fudge, and headed home out the front gate. When I take two busses to get home, my two block trek to it, passes by this great fence. We used to call these, the Three Little Pigs. Piggie #2 is apparently getting renovated, and repainted. Greeting me on our front walkway. Stella then followed me inside, to get treats and/or food from me. The Kettle Corn was flavoured Chocolate Caramel and Apple Caramel. The fudge was Strawberry Cheesecake and Black Forest. Both very good. And that's it for this year's visits to the Pacific National Exhibition a/k/a The PNE! And don't forget! FRIGHT NIGHTS is coming back to Playland in October! https://frightnights.ca/
