According to Screamscape, Thorpe Park has closed Stealth until further notice.

Stealth - (6/22/06) Again, it seems the Intamin curse has struck again and Stealth came grinding to a halt at the end of the launch track yesterday after possibly striking one of the final brake fins. At this point we don’t know exactly what went wrong, but it sounds very similar to what happened to Kingda Ka, last summer at Six Flags Great Adventure. After the incident, the riders were evacuated from the train and the park began to move all guests away from the Stealth area. You can see a few photos of the aftermath here, though no shots of the train.

Good thing that all of us got the credit four days earlier. Strangely it was one of the Intamin rockets that did NOT break on us during our visit and so we got a large amount of ERT on it.

This is strange (in a way). Call it the "Intamin Curse" if you will, but this seems to have been happening with some of the Intamin launch coasters. I also wonder if this is the same incident that had happened to Kingda Ka. But of course, the answer is, we don't know.

But ya. At least their weren't any injuries (I think).

There should be a prize of some sort for whoever manages to get every single Intamin Rocket non-operational-credit! Each coaster must be down for at least a couple of hours for the non-credit to count.

See, I told you I had a time delay on my camera!

Hmmm, now if I can just figure out why the bus with all the add-on people on it didn't explode in a fiery ball of flamey goodness.

The train didn't stop at the end of the launch track, it did complete the circuit.

Heres what Thorpe park said:

There was a technical problem with the launch. The As the train left the station there was a problem and the ride was E-Stopped. However by this point the train was nearing the end of the launch run. The brake fins raised and were hit by a moving part of the ride, which is not the train. The train then left the catch car and continued to make a normal circuit. However it did pass slowly over the top. Due to the E-Stop activation the train could not be moved from off-load to load and thus clear the off-load block. Therefore the train came to stop in waiting, and was evacuated.

Lol, I'm sure Stealth would be even better with a lift hill

This is where I think Vekoma have one over Intamin, how many problems or incidents have their launched coasters had compared to Intamins.

Also you replace the launch with a lift hill on Vekoma's launched coasters and they'd still be a good ride.

Thats Intamins problem, they build their accelerators around the launch.

Quite possibly caused by someone eating Donkey-flavored Lentil Soup..lol

It certainly is unfortunate, but I'm sure the park will get the technical issues resolved (and would venture to say that the ride will be open by August).

Why couldn't something horrible like this happen before their Balder ERT?
