disneyfan1313 Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Great trip report Guy! It looks like you were actually brave enough to get out of the car in Coney Island when the cyclone was closed... we weren't.. You have to find an excuse to bring the wife and kids to WDW - Don't they have things that require plasma tv's down here in FL also?
derwood Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Guy, Great TR. I once rented a Chevy Malibu that smelled like ass...now I know what NY smells like. SPAM-A-Lot awesome awesome awesome. Saw it on Christmas Day in Chicago in 2004 before they moved to NY. d
rollermonkey Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Guy, you lucky, lucky man. You've got Kim, a wife that craves your attention and you get to turn electronic stuff on, hit play AND turn the stuff off again! Geez, where was I when the cool lives were handed out?
Guy T. Koepp Posted May 30, 2006 Author Posted May 30, 2006 Great trip report Guy! It looks like you were actually brave enough to get out of the car in Coney Island when the cyclone was closed... we weren't.. You have to find an excuse to bring the wife and kids to WDW - Don't they have things that require plasma tv's down here in FL also? Yes they do. It looks like I might be getting out to Florida as well here in the near future. It just depends on where the work is.
Guy T. Koepp Posted May 30, 2006 Author Posted May 30, 2006 Guy, you lucky, lucky man. You've got Kim, a wife that craves your attention and you get to turn electronic stuff on, hit play AND turn the stuff off again! Geez, where was I when the cool lives were handed out? Thank you. that is very kind of you to say. I consider myself a very fortunate person as far as my family is conserned. Alana, Jarett & January are all truely awesome, and I love them with every breath. Please realize that this was one of those once in a while cushy jobs that you get because the client specifically requested you. I did the grammys for the client... A HUGE JOB, which turned out awesome. He wanted someone he trusted to make sure this one went smoothly as well. I'm told it was a disaster last year. Anyway, I digress. More pictures! Yay! Stardate 5/18/2006 Time 6:30 am Day 5. I started my day with the ususal Dunkin Doughnuts run before picking up my rental car and heading South. 1 and a quarter hours later I found my heart racing as I saw the Ginormus skyline rising before me. Woo Hoo! I was gonna get a credit overload today! Mabey not such a good idea. We three large men grounded the boat and caused a log jam. We had to get rammed in order to get us moving again. Oh, we got soaked as well. After Medusa it got hot! Were talking log flume hot! There were little birdies calling out to their momma for worms in tha que. Don't worry, I'm sure momma will be back to feed you. And apparently one hell of an entrepreneur. I didn't realize she owned a mining company. See, you learn something every day. Now was time for my first ever Medusa experience. Could I handle the chick with snake for hair, that could turn you to stone with but a gaze? I needed a quick fix to get me over the pain of El Toro. Yay! the Mine train! Woo Hoo! Their was this cool snake in the water though. Yeah, it was closed. I cried! No credit for me! Moving on we rode some coaster that seemed to have like 50 cars in it. It had so many cars that the front of the train had entered the loading station just as the end of the train was leaving. It was fun. The picture didn't turn out. So in leiu of tha What should be there to embrace us as we faced our fears in Skull Mountain? DAVE! Yay Dave! Dave was kind enough to join us for the remainder of the day. See! Scary! FRICKIN' SKULL MOUNTAIN! DUDE! Next was Skull Mountain! SKULL MOUNTAIN! IT'S GOT SKULLS! IT'S A MOUNTAIN! It's two fears in one. Oops! Looks as if Batman was the one who was dispatched today. No credit for me! We then made or way quickly to the working Batman, and over to Nitro. Sorry, the pictures didn't come out. And where would Bubba Z and Tomboy take me first? To their crimefighting cohorts Batman & Robin curently trying to dispatch Mr. Freeze. Just kidding. That's Bubba Z and Tom Boy. Their kinda like the Batman and Boy Wonder of New Jersey. They would be my escorts for the duration of my stay here at Six Flaggs Great Adventure. As evidenced by this photo. The plaza and entryway was very clean and pretty. But I was not here for pretty! They have a beautiful 3 tiered cake out in front of the park for their 45th anniversary. The beautiful skyline of the park becconed me like the sirens of the sea becconed the sailors to their deaths. Except that their was no death involved here today. Before I got there I had to make a prerequisite E-Stop. That's an Elissa friendly stop for those in tha know. So now stopping at a McDonalds is officially called an E-stop. Just like an oval overbanked turn is now called an egg turn.
Guy T. Koepp Posted May 30, 2006 Author Posted May 30, 2006 Part Deux Yeah! At least one of them was mocking me! I'll get you next time Kingda Ka, El Toro, and... racing white coaster... whatever your name is, and your little dog too! As I left the park satisfied that I had done all I could do. I couldn't help the weird feeling that a ride or more were mocking me. I shook my fist at them and was revealed the truth. Oops! Missed one. My whoring... err... chariot awaits! I will get this credit then make my way up to New England! We then made our way back to Nitro. Brought to you by Dave of the Meteornotes persuation. Not of the Dubai persuation. Since I had now accomplished all the available credits. I turned to the Dark Ride. Houdini's Great Escape. This ride was pretty cool. I'd never been on anything like it before. So it was a first for me. Hey Darth Vader, how did you like your ride on Superman? "Superman, I am your father." And you all thought I was a little off 'cause I'm dating Kim Possible. Hey Chewi, How did you like Superman? "Rowr! Rowrr! Rowrrr! Rowww!" Cool Clark Kent DJ melting wax on the 1's & 2's. Yeah, I got those credits too. Lois Lane fly by. Yeah I got those boob credits! On to Superman Ultimate Flight. Or as we on the West side like to call it. Tatsu Jr. Hey! Hidden Mickey at 6FGAdv. Vertical loop for Derek. Or... As Tomboy is so quick to correct my stupidity. The Great American Scream Machine! Or Scream, the Great American Machine. Whatever! Yay! Viper! Turtle for Robb. He seems to be listening for something? What could it be? Now that's a Big P***y! Aw c'mon! I was talking about the Cat! You all with your dirty minds.
Erik Johnson Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Best Phtoto TR ever. You always manage to capture the best hidden Mickey's on film. Mmmmm, just one more week till SFAdv for me.
CycloneMan Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 It's funny. Yesterday Kingda Ka, Batman Chiller and Rolling Thunder was running! There also is a Hidden mickey by the exit of Skull Mountain!
Guy T. Koepp Posted May 30, 2006 Author Posted May 30, 2006 Best Phtoto TR ever. You always manage to capture the best hidden Mickey's on film. Mmmmm, just one more week till SFAdv for me. Cool! You will have fun! The park has a bevvy of great coasters. I will be back to get those last 5 credits. Oh! Many thanks to Bubba Z, Tom, and Dave for showing me a real great time. I had a blast! I look forward to riding with you all again in the future.
CoasterCrazy Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Thanks for posting all the pictures! I think it would be fun to ride Skull Mountain with the lights on. I need to visit SFGADV again someday so that I can ride El Toro and ride Batman & Robin since it was closed last summer.
Meteornotes Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 That was an awesome day at Great Adventure. I'll have to check out my pics and see if any of them look good. I can't wait to ride El Toro! dt
Frade Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 hey man, great photo TR so far, I am glad you are having fun, hope everytinhg continues good. Later Have fun
Bubba Z Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Guy, I had a great time showing you around the park. Plus, I also got the added bonus of meeting Dave. Sorry you missed out again for the B:TR credit Dave. The log flume experience was crazy. Guy, I wanted to give you the honor of posting first. Then add the little pictures I had as well instead of starting a new topic. Thanks Nate for taking our picture. El Toro waits for your next visit. I warned you about the G's Skull Mt . as seen through trees. It's Nitro... Is that in your Top 20 Guy? Here is another shot of Nitro for you. So, what did you think? It was heavy metal!
Guy T. Koepp Posted May 31, 2006 Author Posted May 31, 2006 ^Yes. Nitro definitely makes my top twenty if not my top 10 steel. I had a great time with you guys that day! Great Adventure is a super fun park. I am looking forward to getting back so I can get my Kingda Ka, and El Toro on. Thanks for all your graciousness as a host and showing me around the place. Take care, we'll see ya soon.
SharkTums Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 I'm so jealous!!! Seriously, I think that SFGAd is my favorite Six Flags park! Now with Skull Mountain and El Toro...wow!!! Great report Guy!
arrowfanman Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Awesome report Guy! I feel like I was actually there! ...which is why I'm now going to take a shower. Just playin. -Jahan "can't wait for the next Mr. Koepp Report" Makanvand
Jon Sabo Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Hey, GREAT photos! My only suggestion was to ask the Swedish babes to see if they could "supply you with a credit-if ya know what I mean" lol Anyway, sorry that the rides were closed. You should have went to Trump Tower and ask "The Donald" if he could validate your cab fare and ask to be his next apprentice..lol On a curiosity note, wasn't the Cyclone closed because of an maintenance issue or someone got injured from a mechanical failure or something? I thought the report was posted on CNN a couple of weeks ago. Can anyone confirm this either way? (Nice pics again!)
Canobie Fan Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 6FNE will be up later tonight. WWWWHHHHHEEEENNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ECZenith Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Looks like you were in the northeast while I was in the southwest, therefore making a SFNE meetup impossible! Sorry to see the bad luck at Coney island, if it makes you feel any better, I've lived 4 hrs away my entire life and have never been! SHAME! Awesome TR so far, can't wait to see what ya think of my home park.
jamesdillaman Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Wow, Guy! Your Photo TR really makes me want to go out East and hit SFGAdv. I can't wait for the next installment, had to bookmark this thread until your updates are finished! -James "Turns out will get his Spamalot credit this fall" Dillaman "Have a drink and a pee we'll be back for act three..."
sfne2005 Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Guy, why the hell do you have star wars figures with you at the park?? Anyways, funny shtick man, very funny.
Guy T. Koepp Posted May 31, 2006 Author Posted May 31, 2006 Those were Bubba's. He carries around Star Wars action figures like I carry around Kim Possible. She was very sad that she couldn't make the trip. Anyway... 4 hours north and a internet void night away was waiting Six Flags New England. Before I get into any pics. I must comment that this park realy is one of the nicest in the chain. It's so clean and well themed. It realy is one of the prettiest 6F parks that I have ever been to. I also wanted to give a couple of big ups to two employees there. Darlene Reese. I believe she's head of opperations. We only spoke for a couple of minutes, however I have not met a friendlier person. She greeted me with a warm smile and a firm handshake. You have a beautiful park Darlene. I would also like to give a big thank you to Chris Baily. I believe he is a ride opp supervisor. Dude! You rock the dispatch mic! It's employees like you that make the park going experience a pleasure. Thank you for making my stay that much better. Now... on to the pics. No wait! Not a test! Not a test! 6FNE pt Deux tomorrow! Assume the position. I repeat! this is only a test. We interupt this PTR for Vekoma! VEKOMA! VEKOMA! VEKOMA! This is only a test! If you were to actually experience a real Vekoma, you would be instructed what to do. Turns out this ride... AWESOME! It's a fun family coaster that is fun for the whole family. Cause the family that has fun together rides fun family rides together and that way they have fun as a family together. When their together as a family having f Mr. 6! Turns out he's a whore too. Yeah, Craigers and I tag teamed those credits. Bla Dow! THIS RIDE IS FUN! Weeeeeeee! Spin and puke. Spin and puke! Oh no. There would be no puking for me, as I had a date with... And now... something I WAS SOOOOO LOOKING FORWARD TO! The Sky Swatter... Er... Catapult! Tres' bitchones! Yay! I'm not alone in my sluttyness. Next up. Shameless kiddie credit. It's the Britanny Spears in me dying to get out and be a whore. No longer a girl, but not yet a woman. Just a teenage gutter slut! I settled for a ride on her Twisted train. Giggity! Must... reach... Poison Ivey's... credits. Taunting me! Ahhhhhh! If anyone hasn't told you by now, this ride is awesome! I don't have a picture of myself as I was in the bathroom whiping up the blood that was oozing out of my pours from the stinging rain. I needed something to ease the pain... This is the look of pain as your face seems to burn off your skull. Nice first picture of James though. Wouldn't you agree? I had my coffee and my cape. Was I ready to handle the ride of Steel? Uh... How about you guys go first. Did I mention it was pouring down rain? Oh. then why not a nice leisurely stinging rain ride on Superman! Who is that hooded man? And why does he bring rain where ever he goes? Just kidding! It's Craig (Token Yankee Guy) here to guide me through the vast emptieness of space. James (CanobieFan) is actually with him. He's a little camera shy. Yay! Six Flags New England in the rain. Would they close the park down. Not if I have anything to do with it.
rollermonkey Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 NOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't make me wait for more! You evil genius! OBTW, I hope Kim didn't see you going after Ivy's credits!
Token Yankee Guy Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 I also wanted to give a couple of big ups to two employees there. Darlene Reese. I believe she's in PR. We only spoke for a couple of minutes, however I have not met a friendlier person. She greeted me with a warm smile and a firm handshake. You have a beautiful park Darlene. Actually Guy, She's the head of operations. Not in PR
