Lagoon Discussion Thread

It does suck for Single Rider

No, I mean that Roller Coaster's "new" lapbars suck compared to the old ones. I know it's been a long time, but I still remember how disappointed I was when they changed them. The stupid boxy divider and the stupid part of the lapbar that doesn't fit the 90 degree profile of the rest of the bar suck. That's how I felt about it when I was 12, so that's probably how I will always feel.

Riding Roller Coaster with the Buzz Bars was Awesome!

Ok guys some exciting news on the forum today! Someone on the LIF forum said that Diamond Rental dropped off a bunch of stuff over next to Cannibal. Now you might ask, why is this significant? The reason is the last time that happened, we got a Media Day the following day, and Cannibal was announced, followed by the stacking of the tower sections. Also Lagoon posted the picture you see below, and said "Coming Soon!" I think we could see it opening on Saturday. I'm heading down to lagoon today to get passes, I'll relay what I see over where they dropped the stuff off.

The waterfall looks great! Too bad you can't see it in from anywhere inside the park and you can't ride Cannibal either. Unfortunately the ride will not open this weekend.

Awesome! It sounds like it may be opening up soon!

I don't know why I've been so intrigued by this ride, I just love it's layout and that crazy drop.

Can't wait for some POVs!

Chances are good this drop is going to crap all over the first drop of the dive coaster Cedar Point is supposedly building. Seriously, why are they even bothering...

What do those coasters have anything to do with each other? It's not like Lagoon and CP are competitors.

I like the effect of the waterfall only being seen by the riders, and not the gp outside it.

Except outside the park. Pretty hard to pull something like that off, in daylight,

nowadays with any coaster. I like it.

Any Update on Cannibal for SLC Locals?

They built a one-way gate to corral guests in the entrance area. They put a big mural in the station that looks like it has flaming skulls on it. They put in a permanent stairway to the control booth. They put up some nets to catch cell phones/dropped items. Looking like it could open any time, but hasn't yet.

Clearly this needed more explanation. I grew up with CP always being the "cutting edge" park, always having the biggest and best of everything. I've always thought of them as competing against the whole world, not just their regional competitors. So I was pretty disappointed in the news that they're getting a B&M dive machine because to me, these rides are totally outmoded. Their only claim to fame was the vertical drop, which is now a common element on rides both much smaller and much larger including three at Cedar Point itself. And now the cherry on top is that a tiny park in Utah, one year prior, is opening a ride that appears to do everything a B&M dive machine does except 3x better.

That's my humble opinion, if you'd like to discuss the various merits of this argument we should probably take it to the CP thread but anyway that's what I meant.

My family will be heading to Lagoon sometime next week (22nd or 23rd). I'm not going to get my hopes up about Cannibal being open, but it will still be nice to visit Lagoon since I haven't been in 8 years (still haven't been on Wicked).

I've already learned it's best not to give your hopes up when it comes to this ride, at the very least you'll get to ride 2 new coasters (Wicked and Bombora), and maybe, just maybe Cannibal as well.

Does anybody know the possibility of Cannibal opening this weekend? I've read some stuff on Lagoon Is Fun (but who knows how accurate that is) saying it may open this weekend. Like I've said before, I'm going on Sunday or Monday and I'd love for Cannibal to be open since I almost never go to Lagoon. Either way, I'll have fun riding Wicked and a couple others for the first time as well.

It wouldn't surprise me if Cannibal did open this weekend. The temporary scaffolding that was above the tower exit has been taken down, everything that was in the station like tools, tables, chairs, etc. that aren't necessary for the ride have been taken out. When Lagoon opened Wicked, they didn't say anything about it. That is most likely how they're doing it again.

Lagoonisfun.com is a very trustworthy site with a lot of information on Cannibal. If you need anymore info on Cannibal I recommend going over there.
