dubaidave
OK, I have just got back from a trip to Alexandria in Egypt. Apart from arriving the day that the riots started and the place being dirty as hell we had a nice few days away. I had heard that there was a kiddie credit at a place called Fantazy Land but could not find anyone who had been there. Anyway We finally found the park and it was the worst run park I have ever been to. On the net I had found that the entry fee was 7 Egyptian Pounds, around $1.50. However when I got there they said it was 13 Pounds. I went back to the car as or whole group was going to go in, but when we got back to the pay window it was now 30 Pounds each, Anyway, I decided to go in on my own to get some photos. One thing to note was that when I paid my 30 Pounds I was actually given 3 tickets with 10 Pounds written on them, something tells me I was ripped off. lol Anyway onto the photos. NOTE! If you are viewing this because you were linked from another site, could you please respond and let us know where you came from! We'd like to make sure we give a link back to all of those who linked to us! If you have already viewed the photos on the main page, and want to see more click: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=170496#170496 Part two will feature the lagoon area of the park. The Dodgems had seen better days. This was a strange concrete box in the middle of the park. Park Overview It was closed. Woo Hoo, a credit. this was the main cafe these are the nicest photos I have of the park, will start on the bad ones soon. Construction?? Was Working The flying House.... As was the suspended monorail. The Go Kart Track was closed. Not the best Main Street I have seen. This is just inside the entrance Plaza. I was told no rides were closed today, that was a lie! The entrance was quite nicely themed. From the state of the sign I got a rough idea of what to expect.
dubaidave
Now onto the not very nice section of the park. NOTE: Additional photos on PAGE FOUR. ..the little kids that wanted to know how much my camera was worth.. One final shot of the enterance plaza. AND.... Closed of course They had a couple of big flat rides. This area was themed on a derelict shack theme. The lake had seen better days. moving onto the island. Several rides were set around a lagoon. ShoubraStreet74
Wow man, that park looks very dirty and abandoned. I'm going to egypt this summer and plan to go to a park by the name of DreamPark. Supposedly they have an SLC and a couple other coasters, but hopefully it isn't as bad as "Fantazy" land. It looks like it might have been a decent place at one point. I hope nobody associates this park with the way things are in Egypt, because there are some very beautiful places to go to and even a few good parks. The last time I was in Alexandria was almost two years ago, and it is really a nice place to visit. Anyways, great PTR, it was very intersting for me to read through. Have you ever been to DreamPark? I would like to know if there are similarly crappy conditions or not. BTW, that price raising stuff happened to me all the time in Egypt last time. The taxis are the worst; if you even look a little touristy or they hear you speaking english, the price will go up alot. Fortunately even then it's never very much. BelizeIt
You should be counting your blessings that so many rides were closed! The park operators may have inadvertently "Saved" your life.
dubaidave
^ShoubraStreet74 I havent been to the other parks in gypt. We are planning on going to see the Pyramids at some point and I would like to include the parks. I understand the parks near Cairo are quite nice. dubaidave
^^ Yeah I have to say that was one credit I dont mind missing. They basically had 2 ride ops who folowed people around and operated the rides. It ws all quite scary.
Paul_Hollibone
Jeeze, and people complain about the state of the Themeing at Dreamworld Australia. I mean, the themeing and queue's are bad, but not that bad!
gyjdnb
i think you are the bravest person alive. Would you have actually ridden the topspin if it was working?? I probably would have run a mile. Did you pop round to customer service and complain like a CP fan boy at SFMM??
dubaidave
I did not complain as I think I got away lightly with only paying 30 pounds and not getting my camera knicked. I did not ride anything and was quite pleased. The guy at the ticket desk thought it was hillarious that I would pay 30 pounds and go in on my own. I was pleased to go alone as our party had an 8 year old child whom I am sure would have wante o ride something.

dubaidave
I think it would rank up there with my favorite ever theme parks. Just for novelty value. The fact that I was genuinely scared when a stall holder came up to me and tried to persude me to play a shooting game means it beats Dubai parks hands down.
