Theme Park Review Mobile!

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I've installed a new mod that will allow easier access to people who are using "text only" mobile or PDA browsers when on the go.

It won't show you photos and attachments, but it will at least give you easier access to reading and posting when away from your computer.

I haven't decided if I'll roll it out "officially" yet, but if you want to help test it, here is the link:

http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/mobile/

Please try to connect via your mobile device and let us know how well or not well it works!

Enjoy!

The link works fine on my computer, however attempting to access it via a psp results in a warning and a fatal error.

In case you aren't able to duplicate the error, here's what I'm seeing:

"Warning: Array_keys(): The first argument should be an array in /home2/themepar/public_html/forum/mobile/wurfl/wurfl_class.php on line 367

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home2/themepar/public_html/forum/mobile/wurfl/wurfl_class.php on line 370"

Well right after I posted that my PSP decided to freeze, reboot, and tell me the settings were corrupted. After repairng them, I tried again and worked.

However, ParkTrips is correct about the slow load.

Edit: Did some googling, apparently the PSP's go bsod if you put them into sleep mode while loading a webpage. Odd, considering the webpage seemed to be fully loaded at the time.

Im on it right now and it seems to take quite a bit to load but when it loads its all at once. I'm also on my PSP.

Alright once I got into the sub-forum: Theme Parks, Roller Coasters & Donkeys - it seems to switch through diffrent topics really fast so I would definately use this. Thanks and good idea for making Theme Park Review Mobile Friendly.

I have my T-Mobile Sidekick II, from Disneyland, www.themeparkreview.com/forum loaded quite quickly, and I could make a few posts while standing in line for Big Thunder Mountain.

However, the only thing I've noticed while on the regular site is that the chat doesnt work. My phone does have Java, but it opens the chat in different boxes: Text, Chat, Who's Online, Rules, etc. I'd love to see that available, but I don't think it could be possible.

Works Great, really good feature that should go live permanently!

I'm scared that I'm going to become such a geek if i can get access

to TPR at all times! My friends dig me enough about being a bit of

a coaster already!

I'm assuming the slow load is because regardless of what's on screen, it still takes the same time to hit the SQL database, which is something I can't change.

So perhaps it's one of those features I'll leave in but won't make official.

"Un-supported feature"

Thanks everyone for checking it out!

Hey Robb, a little tip for ya, I used to do this on one of my portal sites. My biggest complaint was that the URL was too long to type on a phone, so I did an html forward...

example...

I would make an html file that forwards to this actual script. Put it in your root. (http://themeparkreview.com/a.html is a great example, or if you have a smaller domain name, it helps out a lot when you try to push a feature such as this.)

PS. works fine here.

Well, now that I'm infront of a keyboard...

I was able to access a lot of good stuff from my mobile, post two messages, and read a little stuff. The only problems I noticed were that I couldn't tell what threads had posts I hadn't read, and I didn't notice an option to edit my posts.

I am sure it's a work in progres, and I can't wait for it to go 'live'.
