ddaver177 Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 Just wondering about any future rides at Hershey Park...I hear that they might be planning a coaster for 2007... Just wandering if this is rumor if Hershey park announced this. I looked on their website and I could not find anything. Thanks, Dave "NO IDEA" White
MSLSM Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 Actually, they are going to get a water park for 2007, and maybe a coaster in 2008.
TheGreatOne Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Yeah, 2008 seems the most likely. Probably something "small". If they really go all out with the waterpark in 2007, I can't see them spending a ton of money in 2008 for another major project. They generally seem to space out their big additions.
coasterguy618 Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Yes like theGreatone said, maybe small. And plus, the barely have any room left for some huge coaster. So the chances are slim.
ECZenith Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 I think they'll let Storm Runner be top dog for a while as they focus on the waterpark and family additions (like the crazy reese's the ride thing) Hell, I'm surprised Hershey even GOT Storm Runner, when it was first announced I was shocked they were getting a rocket coaster! The park's come a long way. Any new significant coaster in the next couple years would be an even bigger shocker.
CoasterEricHP Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Well, the waterpark is definate for '07.. unfortunately. I'm interesting in seeing the plans for this thing though. Midway America is torn up pretty good apparently. It sounds like the whole waterpark thing is more of a glorified waterplay area... AKA Bigger Duke's Lagoon.. I think they should use the Fairview Golf Course for a real waterpark if they want to go that route. I feel like a quasi-waterpark is dissapointing for a parks 100th anniversary. Even from a business standpoint.. Hershey has a nice collection of water rides already, and to tear up Midway America and make it something that can't even be used for the special (and HUGE moneymaking) events seems dumb. Eric
ny is for haters Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 I really wish they'd just add another big ride to Hersheypark. And didn't they have an RCT3 Contest or something for it which ended in January? I dunno.. But I remember making something and actually sending it in on this cheap version of RCT3 you had to use.
ny is for haters Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 No, I didn't even know there was a winner or anything yet. Oh well.. I forgot the website anyways.
SharkTums Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Enough with the ' has no more room for a big coaster'! I die a little bit inside every time someone says that.
pkdcoaster Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Enough with the ' has no more room for a big coaster'! I die a little bit inside every time someone says that. I know...look at what Hershey did lately with Great Bear and Storm Runner If somebody told me those huge coasters would go there before hand I would have said no way....but they look great now It always amazes me where parks find room for these things..but they do.. (then you have parks that have a TON of land but do not use it...cough PKD cough) JEFF
music11 Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 I entered that contest and found a paper in one of the RCT3 expansion boxes and said that they were going to pick the people's places in March but i havent got or heard anything about. Also i wondered if the person who wins would have their coaster built in the park which could be the next coaster possibly but i dont know if the coaster would get built in the park because the entry form and paper didnt say anything about building the coaster in the park. Anyways there is no more more room in the park so the next coaster will be most likely in 2008.
FlippyTrick09 Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 ^ yeah that kind makes me not wanna go (iffen you know what i'm meaning) But we know they can queeze someything into the space they have, but the question is WHAT could they squeeze in there?
TheGreatOne Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Hersheypark actually has quite a bit of room to build future coasters. Anyone who says otherwise has no idea what they're talking about. As someone mentioned, Hersheypark is creative with placement, which affords them more room than most parks their size.
CoasterEricHP Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Yeah Hershey has space.. I think it'd be an amazing spot if they could take out Coal Cracker (as sad as that would be..) and have a hyper run along the creek, over the Comet and pavilions and down towards Chocolate World.. It'd be possible if HERCO owns that land. Oh well, I cant wait for next year at this time to go play in the new water stuff.. oh wait.. that's pointless for Springtime in the Park! Ugh.. Not that Hershey is lacking great coasters.. we're just spoiled from getting so many so quickly. Eric
ny is for haters Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 I can see many places where things could be built. I remember a bit of space being around an empty lot where the monorail runs. It really bored me just seeing like a barren land right there. Yeah Hershey has space.. I think it'd be an amazing spot if they could take out Coal Cracker (as sad as that would be..) and have a hyper run along the creek I agree, that would be a pretty good spot. But Coal Cracker is a fun ride! And there's ALWAYS a huge line for it. I think that was my longest waiting line when I went that day. But I'd really like to see a B+M Hyper Coaster there, running along the creek, around Great Bear, Sooper Dooper Looper, Comet, etc.
YoshiFan Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 I'd hate to see the Coal Cracker gone, too many flumes are closing and it would suck to lose another one.
ny is for haters Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 I really liked Coal Cracker. I thought it was a great ride. Before riding, I told everyone we wouldn't get wet because they didn't want to get wet. I knew we might get wet, but from the beginning our car hit some kinda wave and splashed water all over everyone.
CoasterEricHP Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 Haha I hate that.. same on Splash Mountain. You usually just get splashed a little, but there's always that one ride where the water for some reason comes dumping in from all sides and you get soaked. I'd hate to see it go too, but it seems like a trend lately and flumes do take up a lot of space, which is at a premium. After they build the waterpark thing, if its in the plans for Coal Cracker to go, that'd be the logical time to do it. Although, a Goliath (SFOG version)/Apollo's Chariot would make me forget about the Coal Cracker real fast. Eric
pete4winds Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 Enough with the ' has no more room for a big coaster'! I die a little bit inside every time someone says that. With a little creativity in placement and budgeting, there is no such thing as "...no more room for a big coaster." It's only a scary thought if we actually believe it, and ignore the fact that Hershey has set the bar for other parks in terms of creative placement. Besides...it's not like the DON'T own anymore land or can't GET anymore...
music11 Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 A good area for a hyper would be to be in between LR and Wildcat and then could go over the road and fly over the parking lot do all there twist in dips next to the main road.. Just a possibility but very likely.
TheGreatOne Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 I'd hate to see the Coal Cracker gone, too many flumes are closing and it would suck to lose another one. I think it would absolutely be a shame if they ever removed Coal Cracker. Arrow Hydro Flumes are rare to come by, and it has a great location.
ddaver177 Posted April 11, 2006 Author Posted April 11, 2006 I am very pleased at the discussion. I take your informative insights very well. Enjoy your next adventure at HERSHEY PARK! DAVE "REVENGE OF COAL CRACKER" WHITE
