Jonathan Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 I will be staying up late and getting up early to watch all of the hockey games. It should be great. Unfortunately, I would say it's probably a long shot that USA will medal in hockey.
Hattuchili Posted January 28, 2006 Author Posted January 28, 2006 ^^ Now, the pictures are working. I changed something! --Sören
Hattuchili Posted January 29, 2006 Author Posted January 29, 2006 Hmm..., it looks like here are not so many people who are interested in the Olympic Games!? However, I am looking forward to the opening ceremony. It is great to see all the athletes walking in the stadium and the light + sound show around everything. The best part is the come on of the olympic flame and the inflammation of the big stadium flame. I really like that part! It must be great for a athlete to stay there at that moment and be a part of that great competition! --Sören
the_rock401 Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 I enjoy the Olympics. I'm with Soren in that I always enjoy watching the opening ceremony and the lighting of the torch. Cathy Freeman lighting the cauldron in Sydney was my favorite cauldron lighting. However, for these Olympics, I will be in Florida on the weekend of the opening ceremony. So I'm setting my VCR and hopefully the ceremony will be there when I get back Paul "Tivo anyone? "
Skier Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 I am big into the winter olympics. Skiing(Bode Miller) and Hockey are the two things I will be following(DVRing) this year and any bobsled or other fast events are always fun to watch. And who can forget the best event of them all... CURLING!
Slacking Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 I am big into the winter olympics. Skiing(Bode Miller) and Hockey are the two things I will be following(DVRing) this year and any bobsled or other fast events are always fun to watch. And who can forget the best event of them all... CURLING! nice! Curling sure is the best event. In fact Curling is the only event that I'll plan to watch. I may watch other evens when bored, but Curling will be the only thing I'll actually go out of my way to watch.
dandaman Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 My heart and competitive spirit is with the Canadian Olympic team. May they be inspired to do their best, just like evry other year, and go for the bronze. Seriously, though, I hope Canada kicks everyone's butts in hockey again!
buttonman700 Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 We love the Olympics! Kasey and I are looking forward to watch as much of them as we can. I am also going to encoarage my kids at work to watch them too! I look forward to some great conversations here once they start! Is anyone here going to the games? Ed
maliboomer Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 I'm also looking forward to the Torino Winter Olympics, but it's a pity that there is not much snow.
SharkTums Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 I like watching the Olympics as well! One of my athletes dads is getting to go since he works for NBC!
Scaparri Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 I love the Olympics, especially the winter games. I'm not sure what time of day most of the coverage will air, but I'm hoping to catch a lot of it. I'm really looking forward to the games coming to Vancouver in 2010. I was really disappointed I never got to go out the the Salt Lake City in '02. Hopefully I'll be done with school before the 2010 games so I can go check it out for a few days. As for this year specifically, I'd like to see the U.S. hockey team do well, but I really don't see it happening. I think there were a few bad choices made in the player selection and we just don't look really strong. We don't terrible, but definately don't look like a medal contender to me. I hope I'm wrong.

I may watch other evens when bored, but Curling will be the only thing I'll actually go out of my way to watch. Curling ROCKS! The Canadian Mens team is young, except for Russ Howard who has been around for years. He is an old-style curler who's calling of the sweepers is legend. The Canadian Hockey team had a hard time picking players. I think they could have picked enough guys for 2 teams. Sadly, I think the US Hockey team is not going to do too well this time around. I don't particularly care for the figure skating events or the freestyle skiing. Anything that requires judges leaves a bad taste in my mouth. But I like to watch the bobsled/luge/skeleton - reminds me of my youth and the hills we used to sled down every night. Winter Olympics are a lot better than Summer. But that is probably because of our elevations.
Joe Cool Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 I am so excited about the the Winter Olympics. My favorite events are snowboarding and sking. My favoritesnowboarder is and hopefully is going all the way is Shawn White tthat dude is insane. Curling is pretty awesome to watch it really gets intense with those brooms haha. I also love to watch bobsledding and the leuge.GO U.S.A!!!

Biathlon: the German Greis Leaves Everyone Behind »Bjoerndalen’s face sunk into the snow after reaching the finishing line at the end of her unfinished inrun is the postcard of the 20 km individual, which assigned the first medals of the XX Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games. The 29-year-old German Michael Greis put everyone behind him by completing an excellent performance at the shooting range and was able to contain the comeback of a wild Bjoerndalen... hyyyper Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 did anyone see the formula1 car in the opening cermony, it was the ferrari test driver Luca Badour, in the old ferrari (season 05) and he did 5 tire-burn-donuts, making the olympic rings, pics link: http://www.formula1.nl/index/f1crew/nieuws/fotos_rossi_steelt_show_bij_opening_olympische_spelen/ vid link: http://www.formula1.nl/index/f1crew/nieuws/filmpje_badoer_draait_donuts_bij_opening_olympische_spelen/
Hattuchili Posted February 11, 2006 Author Posted February 11, 2006 ^ I´ve seen that, it was really cool. I also have seen the whole opening ceremony! It was one of the best opening ceremonies I´ve seen till now! I really liked the "Sparks of Passion" (fire skaters)! --Sören

dandaman Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 CAN vs. ITA: 16-0 F http://www.cbc.ca/olympics/sports/icehockey/womensglog/game1.shtml
dandaman Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 IMO, CBC's Olympic coverage is lightyears ahead of NBC. For one, they almost never show anything live. Last night, I watched 2 encore presentations of the Opening Ceremonies on CBC... the NBC coverage hadn't even staretd yet.
Meteornotes Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 Hey, at least the HD coverage on NBC isn't a day behind like it was for the last summer games. They're making progress! Figure skating is the big draw in this house, since Mary used to be an accountant for the US Figure Skating Association. She knows a lot of the skaters, and will be yelling at the TV a lot next week. Opening ceremonies were fun. We were laughing at the choices for music when the athletes were coming into the stadium. Even Bob Costas had to say something about "YMCA" being played. We also liked at the end, when they said "we'll be back with a surprise". I tured to Mary and said "Peter Gabriel is going to come back out and perform 'Supper's Ready'". Obviously that didn't happen... dt
dandaman Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 My gym teacher's wife (Suzanne Gavine-Hlady) is cometing in the two-man bobsled event. She called our gym class on Friday from the Opening Ceremonies!
