I have Cox Cable, and I have to say that I have Zero Complaints!

They are Great at Downloading at a Fast Pace!

Much better then Dial Up!

So if your looking for a new service, than stick with Digital Cable, it Rocks!

I currently have the Comcast HD package along with web service and have had no problems over the last year.

Pros-

Great up/down speeds.

Connection is reliable as hell in my area of Sacramento.

Self install kit is VERY easy to put in, and can save you money on installation.

On Demand

On Demand

On Demand

(And On Demand)

HD On Demand!

Cons-

Price can be a bit on the high side based on package/internet options.

I won't get into just how steep my bill is but I think the internet service alone makes up for it. It all depends on what you use your connection for, and how much TV you watch, I guess. I can't say one or the other is better but I can say Comcast has been an above decent service provider so far. Just make sure that if you do go that route make sure to get your money's worth every month.

BTW Wally part of town you in now?

When I lived near Orlando, the house I was in had a satelite dish. And every time it would rain, without fail, the tv would go out, and would stay out usually until the rain cleared up (which can sometimes be hours, or even full days!). When it's storming is when I want to watch weather on tv! I personally would never get a dish.

Most importanatly ... if you don't have it already, TIVO makes any programming 10x better. Satelite or Cable.

You stole me thunder.

Neither matters to me (I have had experience with both) but tis DVR service that is the shizznit

I've also never really had issues with rain and such, only during major thunderstorms and then the cable and electircity would generally go out too, so it was no big loss either way!

The one thing that satellite has a huge advantage in is Sunday Ticket. It's the only reason I have a DirecTV dish.

Then again, Comcast has some great intenet service (at least compared to the other crap available in my 'hood - I hated Bell South DSL )

It really depnds where you live i guess.

But i live in so cal, ive had DishNetwork ever since they came out (probably over 10 years [or since i was like 3]) and i don't recall my signal EVER going out because of storms! And money wise, its cheaper. So this is what i suggest, ask a neighbor who has a dish, they would know how well it works in your area. base your opinion off of what they say.

most people in my area have satelites!

We live in the Pocket/Greenhaven Neighborhood, and were only moving like 2 miles away from where we are at now.

You and Kelli should come out one time when I have a BBQ.

Another big thing to consider (and it is BIG) is that you live pretty far up north. I had a lot more troubles with my DirecTV when i moved up north, because my dish angle was close to 90 degrees.

If you live pretty far up north and are surrounded by trees or other tall obstructions, don't expect much signal.

// My brother actually cut down a tree on his old farm in Southern WV to get signal!

^I think the dishes usually have to face to the southeast, right? We have (well, we will have) two big beautiful redwood trees on the southeast corner of the lot. They will be not be cut down, or if they do it'll be over my dead body. So my vote goes for cable.

I'm a DirecTV subscriber have been for a long time and I love it. We barly ever loose the signal only in really bad storms where we sometimes loose power anyway. The only problem is aiming it again after a big hurricane but it has never fallen down contary to all the cable commericals you see.

When the women speaks, I listen. Cable it is! But I think we should fork over a couple more bucks for the DVR feature. Then I can record "Intervention" on A&E and feel better about myself by seeing that there are more screwed up people other than myself.

I have had Directv for years and it is way better than cable in price, quality, customer service, channel selection and its the only place to get NFL Sunday Ticket and the NCAA Mega March Madness package. Last year I got the Directv HD-Tivo and it is amazing but pricey it has two Directv tuners built so you can record two shows at the same time or record one show while watching something else live, a HD OTA reciver so you can get the local HD stations, 30 hours of HD recording time and 300 hours of standard recording time and there is no record quality setting like my old Tivo or VCR's every thing is recording at the highest standard. Also I have had picture loss due weather only a few times during bad storms and every time the power also went out so it really didnt matter.

LOL on Intervention^ Gotta love that show, and yes, it boosts my self image as well.

I love my Cox digital cable and DVR- no complaints what so ever. I, however, have never had satellite except for a short 9 months living in a Frat. in Lawrence, KS. Then bad weather = no TV, but NorCal and NE Kansas are a bit different when it comes to weather.

Cable. IMO, dealing with the whole weather issue, the way I see it, I would rather have my TV working when the tornados are coming right for us rather than it be out. But that's just me. But when we get floods, after all the water settles, thats when ours goes out.

I'd stick with cable, specifically digital. Nothing worse than not being able to get a signal when there is bad weather outside. Plus the dish may look stupid on your house, depending on where they tell you it HAS to go for best results.

Bingo. Digital Cable is the way to go. Most importantly youll want a nice High-Def TV and then you are all set. Kick up the foot rest on the lay-z-boy and hunker down with a beer!

I have both but watch TV with DirectTV. I use cable for the high speed internet but could watch TV on it too.

I like satellite (Direct tv), we've had it a while and it hardly ever goes out, maybe an hour at the most. Strong winds are our most common weather, and randomly get rain, snow and hail.

When insight cable went to Time Warner i switched to Directv and have not looked back. Time Warner screwed me over several times. I wouldn't be sad if their company tanked.
