Fuji-Q Highlands Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

I agree that there may in fact be multiple trains on EJ. The train seen through the side door isn't blue, it looks orange. Also, it seems too close to the door to be on the center track.

I hope so, throughput on a twenty passenger train would be horrible! DDP operates 8 passenger trains, but they always run three of those!

With smaller trains. Do you think it's possible for them to have 2 in that station at once?

Obviously i'm not exactly sure how long the trains are... But is it possible?

Wow! Lots of small changes to the chassis and frame, x-rail wheel carrier. Also looks like they've added some seat sensors, maybe a remote harness release setup. All the trackwork looks beefier, double backbone throughout.

Looks like the S&S/Arrow guys have been busy improving the original design; this could be a much better ride than X.

Ha. It's like they just chopped off part of the "X" design on the trains. Instead it's an "I" or an "L" now.

I wonder if they moved the seats farther away from the gears because there isn't that huge barricade like X has.

S&S really made some changes to the bogey and wheel carrier units. I believe Alan and the gang shed about 1100lbs. of weight off the train(s) and looks like they modified some other components (apparently issues related to X). Let's just hope the improvements provide a good (and reliable) ride for those that experience it.

Forgive my ignorance, but what exactly were those big X's on the X train? Were they just decoration or is that where these "gears" are? I'm also curious as to the change in shape, because I'm assuming they do serve some purpose.

^Hopefully, soon!

To answer some of the Q's:

The wheel guards haven't been installed yet.

It wasn't technically a media day, as the ride didn't operate for the invited guests. The Scream Heaven guy was invited for a closer look at the trains and the station. It seems that a few other folks were invited as well.

11 days until opening, but 71 until I get to ride.

89 days until I leave Japan.

One word... CRAZY!!! I can already see how this is way different from X.

  • 1. The station floor drops instead of tilting the seats back (kinda gives you that inverted coaster feel!)
    2. It almost flips coming out of the station!! (Can that be counted as an inversion??!)
    3. The full-full is pretty amazing!
    4. It does a front flip while coming into the brake run!!! (another inversion??!)

Now i think if this one can stay a-float then do you think we can expect some more installations and totally different layouts? I sure hope so!! Because I for one cant easily get to Japan!

That actually looked very enjoyable!?

One thing I noted was that even though this guy was using a fairly out of the box DV camera with no added lenses, you could still tell that the ride was very smooth, and i'm sure the large padded restraints which you could see going up that lift hill definitely helped.

Now, I only counted six or seven invesions, so help me out here when they get an un-godley fourteen or so. Seems just like over-exagerations more to the point then anything.

But all in all, that'd be one of the big reasons why I'd want to visit Japan currently. It looks cool, the trains look slick (haha, get it?) and generally it looks like a class addition to the park, even though the rest of the attractions might be lacking somewhat.

@%$&*#@!!!!11!! Drool.

I need to ride it. If it's anything like X then I'm going to be somewhat dissapointed, but still. I wanna ride it.

I think that this coaster gets the award for most people operating. Did you see how many Fuji-Q emoployee's were getting people out of the harnesses? Damn!

I intend on visiting Fuji-Q about the same time. When the date gets closer, drop me a line (PM or e-mail) and we can work out if it's possible to meet up.

As for the video?

I guess I was wrong about how long it would take for a POV to get out!

Cool!
