Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread

^ Welcome!

If we were to get Iron Horse on The Boss, I'm sure the Double Helix will be completely removed, which will significantly shorten the Ride's length. I think that's a good idea, but would still be a little disappointed to see that happen as The Boss' length was one of its specs that made it so unique and a draw. But I would certainly settle for a shorter length to get Iron Horse, so bring it on!

RMC can handle two large projects a year it seems (such as Iron Rattler and Outlaw Run or Medusa Steel Coaster and Goliath). However if they are booked like they said at IAAPA, I believe they could expand to be able to construct three or four a year (although four would be stretching it). There are so many rumors floating around about RMC treatments to coasters all over the place, so for all we know Iron Boss could come in 2015 or maybe not until 2020 or maybe it just won't happen at all. Everything is just a rumor right now.

Is the iron boss still a possibility for 2015? I think that it would be a really good addition to the Park, since we have three wooden coasters and I think that it would also go over good with the general public.

The last we heard from out 'inside source', there were no RMC plans for the Boss.

For good reason, IMO. Boss is quite capable of being an excellent coaster as is (with proper upkeep, of course). Batman, Boss, and Freeze are a nice top 3 to have- a lot better than what many other parks have to offer.

^ and ^^ Don't get me wrong, I love The Boss! And I don't think its this rough horrible Ride like other Enthusiasts. I think its bumpiness just adds to its thrill. Now, with that being said, I would still be absolutely ecstatic if an RMC Iron Horse renovation were to be done to it because you just cant beat an RMC. I want one in my home Park, and The Boss is just the perfect candidate for RMC. So, basically, I love The Boss as is, and I'd love it even more if it were to have RMC Iron Horse.

I think that sometimes a line needs to be drawn between bumpiness and painful. I think that my first few rides on The Boss in 2007 were rough but still enjoyable. However, the ride has become so painful that, to me, I can't enjoy the ride anymore.

In fact, I think the Boss has the potential to be a great ride without having its layout completely changed. Actually, I wouldn't mind just getting an I-Box treatment without changing the layout. Could we just do that?

I agree... topper track and new trains should do the trick. And if it is decided to get the full Iron Horse treatment then that's great too.

The Boss is like the Park itself, it has so much unrealized potential - very frustrating to watch year after year without the attention (cash) it deserves.

^^ See, I've never thought it was painful. I've never had a single Ride where I said "ow". But, that's just my experience.

I rode the Boss three times in a row in the morning for Insane Coaster Wars last season, and while the ride wasn't smooth, it wasn't horrible at all. However, less than a month later it became horribly rough. Do I enjoy riding the Boss? Of course, because it is super intense, but it is definitely a horribly rough ride.

Insane Coaster Wars was at our park? No way!

Yep, they came last season. They filmed on Mr. Freeze and Boss. I found out around eleven o'clock the night before they filmed on the Boss and the park's PR guy responded extremely quickly and I was able to go. It was fun, but I regret I didn't get to ride Mr. Freeze.

It should be on TV sometime this summer.

There are a few anniversaries in the park in 2014 - Wahoo Racer celebrates 5 years, Hurricane Harbor will be 15 years old and Ninja will have been at the park for 25 years this year (oh, and Boomerang turns 25 also, sorry I mean 1 ).

Some useless facts about Ninja - The ride originally operated for 6 months in 1986 at Expo '86, in Vancouver Canada; Ninja was designed by Arrow Dynamics, but Vekoma was who built the ride after Arrow went bankrupt; Ninja has 3 trains, I don't think that it has ever run three trains at once here and I don't know if it's even possible; Ninja was originally red (track) and white (supports), it was repainted to it's current black/grey colors in 1998 with intention on being re-themed (rumor was Penguin themed), but when Premier bought Six Flags the change didn't happen; Other name possibilities in 1989 besides Ninja were - Viper, Fury, Venom and The Grizzly.

While looking back through the park's history I saw that you really shouldn't expect the park to get much on years that end in "4", because...

in 1974 - the park got nothing

in 1984 - Rail Blazer was the "new" ride, it only operated for about a month before the accident/fatality and operated for only a few months after; it might be the worst addition the park has ever made in it's history

in 1994 - Hollywood came to Six Flags in the form of The Robin Hood Stunt Show, Police Academy Show, Warner Music Rock Revue and more (why this park is the only one, besides SFFT to never have a Batman Stunt show of any kind and got stuck with the Robin Hood show instead I'll never understand)

in 2004 - the park got nothing

in 2014 - Tsunami Soaker is actually the only new ride ever added in a year that ends in "4" in the parks history

Well let's look at years ending in 5:

in 1975- The park received Goodtime Hollow, the kiddie area that was located where American Thunder was (this included multiple kiddie rides and the kiddie roller coaster)

in 1985- The park transformed Goodtime Hollow into Looney Tunes Town and received a few new kiddie rides for the area.

in 1995- The park got Batman: The Ride.

in 2005- The park received Tornado for Hurricane Harbor.

So in 2015 I could definitely see a new Hurricane Harbor attraction (water coaster anyone?), possibly another kiddie land expansion (or maybe a smaller second kiddie land?), or possibly both. I'm thinking the next "major" ride is coming in 2016 for the 45th anniversary of the park.

Also, 2016 is the 40 Birthday of Screamin' Eagle. I wonder if they will do anything special for it.

I'd love for its queue to be repainted. And hopefully they can do something about its entrance, because the way it is tucked behind the midway carnival games is really ridiculous.

Edit:

The blue area on here is the current switch back area of Screamin' Eagle's queue. The red area is the midway area. If they brought up the eagle sign from the old ride entrance, they could create a new entry fountain where the current entrance to the midway area is and have the switch back queue relocated up to where the rest of the midway area sits. The old switch back queue could then be demolished for a kids coaster. However, this would definitely cost a lot of money.

I just hope they will keep it there instead of tearing it down and replace it with a wing rider. Maybe some retrack here and there, might add some theming as well. It already is much smoother than one particular ride from 2005.

I don't see the Eagle going anywhere anytime soon. They have been keeping it well maintained, paint and all.

Yeah, that's like St Louis getting rid of the Arch. The Eagle defines the SFSTL skyline. Only an Act of God will remove the Eagle from our park.

Well, since Rolling Thunder was scrapped, Colossus is getting Iron Horse treatment... I am kind of worried about this ride. Let's just hope it will stay there for a very very long time.
