SFZIP Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 The actual ride building won't be demolished but the que building (original que area) in front of the ride building will be demolished and the ride building will be expanded some, The Hall of Justice facade will be put on the front of the expanded area.
Meteornotes Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 That is a nice looking facade. Hope the final result matches the concept art! dt
cfc Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 It's good to see Six Flags adding a big, elaborate dark ride to some of its parks. I like the looks of the new facade, too.
Woodie Warrior Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 A few notes from my past Fright Fest visit last Friday night: -The crowds at the front gate were intolerable. Is this how bad it normally gets on Friday nights? The ENTIRE plaza was full of guests pushing and shoving each other. Horrible. -The pass processing line was shorter than the line for people who already have their pass processed. So while having pass processing at the gate works perfectly midday, when there aren't that many people trying to get in, during crowded times it pretty much screws over people who already have their passes processed. So I have mixed opinions on this new style of pass processing. -Batman at night is effing amazing. Just wow. I had possibly my best ride ever on it this trip. Plus, that crew was HAULING it. -Love At First Fright was decent. While still it draws in the crowds after so many seasons, I'd love to see a new show next year, whatever it may be. -Crowds this year are just insane. I'm glad for the park. Both times I've been to Fright Fest this year the parking lot has been packed. I really do hope they extend the event by a week or two next season. I'm planning on getting out this upcoming Saturday and doing the houses again. I can't wait.
HARLEYGUYJB Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 This was via ACE FB PAge COASTER CON XXXIX (2016) ANNOUNCED ACE is pleased to announce that its 39th annual convention will be held June 19-24, 2016 at Six Flags St. Louis (Eureka, Missouri) and Holiday World (Santa Clause, Indiana). This will mark the first time that Six Flags St. Louis has hosted a Coaster Con! Could there be a new roller coaster in 2016 for SFSTL?
SFStl Fan Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 ^^ I was wondering the same thing. Of course an announcement like that can only fuel the fires of speculation. Here's hoping anyway!

prozach626 Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 My hopes shot up. Then I jogged my memory for the past 15 years... and I instantly suppressed all feelings or expectations of a new coaster. All joking aside, there could be something there, but it depends... Is this a decision made more by SF, or did ACE come to SFStl and ask them? I'm hoping for the first one. Also, has anyone heard anything more about namtab coming to SFStl next year?

Note that Holiday World is also part of Coaster Con, and they're building their new coaster. I wouldn't read too much into SF St. Louis's involvement other than "proximity." (Plus, ACE probably appreciates a new dark ride as much as the next person.) Edited October 22, 2014 by cfc
pkgdel5 Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 (edited) So I have a question.....as I "research" more on topper track systems by RMC, I notice the coasters are wood (of course) but with metal pieces (if you will) through-out the ride supporting the wood...and I don't mean the topper track itself....I know it's metal. I've notice a lot of these similar metal pieces "popping-up" on the Boss. Maybe I'm jumping the gun again, but does anyone think this WILL lead to an Iron Boss if not 2016 then in 2017???? And again, maybe I am getting my hopes up high, but it's been a minute since we seen this much excitement surrounding Six Flags St. Louis! I am glad to see the company spending some real $$$$ on our park even if it is a dark ride and not a coaster! Edited October 23, 2014 by pkgdel5
ZeroGravity55 Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Those metal pieces you're seeing is more than likely stuff the park is adding to reinforce the ride and help the track hold up for a longer period of time. They're more than likely connected to the bottom of the ledgers (the part that actually supports the track) and are common place on most wooden coasters now days. The tell, tell sign for Iron Boss will be when you start seeing orange marks pop up all over the structure as that will indicate where they will be cutting the structure down to redo the profile of the layout. Edit: Something like this

bbmchl Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 I haven't seen much on the Radioactive Rails. Is it worth the wait, and, what have the wait times been this year? Last year wait times were crazy. thanks. Mike
Vonni Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 No it is not worth the wait at all. This is probably the worst haunted train ride the park has had. My friend and I waited about 50 minutes.

pkgdel5 Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 ^^^^Agree^^^^ Train ride is not worth the wait!!

Last year wait times were crazy. thanks. Mike We rode it twice Saturday night, opening weekend. The first time had a wait of about an hour, the second time towards the end of the night, there wasn't a line at all. I think the attention to detail is much better than last year. The encampment and bubbling pond with fog off in the distance (to the left just past the SkyScreamer) was cool, the newly redone building facades, the glowing tube along the tracks, and the mutant are all noteworthy and how bout that Imagine Dragons remix? It was a bit of a let down though as far as "scare factor". We'll be there tomorrow to ride it again.

SFStl Fan Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 ^^ I'd have to disagree. They had a Jason vs Freddy thing back in the early days of Terror Train that was pretty cool and actually had scare factor.
bbmchl Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Thanks for the replies on the train. We can't go this weekend, and Nov. 1st and 2nd weekend only way for us to do the train would be Sunday, and one of our little guys has a birthday party to attend, so would have to leave in the middle of the day and just come back for the train. Sounds like it is not worth all that trouble, and we will go on Nov.1st (can't stay for the train because of a prior engagement).
deadbase Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Hey guys. First post here. My family just got a season pass after realizing how much we'd save over paying each time. I have a couple of questions. We hit Fright Fest on the rainy Friday night a few weeks ago. Not a lot of people there and it was our first time. We planned to go back on Halloween night. Are the crowds going to be ridiculous that night? Our 9 year old want to wear her costume. Will there be other wearing them that night? Trick or Treating, etc. I know it's all guessing at this point. Second, we are looking at adding on the meal plan. DO you guys do this and do you think it's worth it? Third, we are a family of 3. Since they don't check kids fingerprints would it work to buy a 4th season pass and she can invite different friends to use it? Just some questions we were wondering about. Thanks! This looks like a great forum.
Woodie Warrior Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Visited Fright Fest for the third time last night and did the houses again. A few notes: -Park was probably the most crowded I've ever seen it. Long lines for every ride. The line for The Slaughter House ran from the facade/sign all the way to the top of the fountain near the mine train. I'm glad we got the Express passes. -Voided Vision had the shortest line of any of the houses. When we passed by it later, all of the people in line were crowded around the right side of the queue to watch the stunt show next door instead of going into the maze. I'm really hoping this maze goes bye-bye next year. It just plain sucks. -Blind Fury was my favorite house last night, followed by Insanity Alley, and then Slaughter House and Voided Vision. A lot of the actors in both BF and IA like to get up close and personal, which can be awkward, but also funny. For example, in BF, one monster pretty much chased my friend into a corner and then another one stuck his hands through the wall she was up against. And in IA, our group stopped for a second, and then a guy appeared right in front of us and screamed in my friend's face. I saw him pretty much put his hand an inch away from another guy's face and not let him move, which was funny as well. -The Slaughter House really needs more actors. It has a long-a$$ cornmaze and two huge buildings full of scenes and effects. I probably saw less than 15-20 scare actors. There need to be at least 30 in a maze that large. Also, the shaking cage was operating and really scared a few of the people in there with us. -The details in Blind Fury are awesome, especially in the doll and teddy bear rooms. Also, that monkey is hilarious. I think it was my group's favorite house. -I wasn't as blown away as Insanity Alley as I was two weeks ago. I don't think there were as many actors this time. -What happened to the giant scarecrow/pumpkin king dudes in the front plaza?

This looks like a great forum. Meal plan- for 3 of you, its probably around 45 each meal, though I personally hardly eat there as it's expensive and don't want to get sick. But, obviously worth it if you go at least 4 times. Season pass- I think it'll work for anyone, as long as they have the pass, since they just scan the bar code after the first visit, though there is the Bring a Friend day(I learned the hard way that that's one of the worst times to go).
