pkgdel5
Could it be possible the Boss will get the Topper track instead of the IBOX treatment? Wouldn't this "make-over" be less expensive w/o changing the layout of the current tracks?

ZeroGravity55
Unless Boss gets new trains, I wouldn't expect topper track to change the experience really. I've read several reports about where nobody was able to tell there was a noticeable difference in the original track and topper track. That's probably why most of the rides that have received topper track have eventually had the I-box conversion.
SteveStL
Then get the topper track and trains from RMC. ...still probably alot cheaper than a complete tear down conversion. Then replace the Ninja with a hand-me-down B&M from either coast (Medusa (Bizarro) or Scream). Then our park will have something for many years down the road. Well that's what I would do anyway... I found it to be a HUGE difference. The Gertslauer trains are always horrible. Even just replacing them with PTC trains would probably make a noticeable difference. prozach626
The issue with the length is just the price tag of the transformation, and whether or not it's worth having to tear out part of the ride or something. Answer: It's. Worth. It.

The Gertslauer trains are always horrible. Even just replacing them with PTC trains would probably make a noticeable difference. As I said, it's only stuff I've read, so different people have experiences. The issue with the length is just the price tag of the transformation, and whether or not it's worth having to tear out part of the ride or something. Answer: It's. Worth. It. Here's the thing, if you're going to spend money on the ride, you might as well spend the money to get it done right. If cutting out a part of the ride means getting something that is a better ride, of course it's worth it. Anything RMC touches is gold right now, so there is no way it wouldn't become the best attraction in the park, IMO.
SFSTLMO
You guys realize that RMC has already re-tracked the Boss? It's on their website.
ZeroGravity55
^ They didn't put topper track on the ride. They either did structural work or traditionally re-tracked the ride like they did for Thunder Run at KK last year. We really have no idea exactly what they did or when they did it. HWFan
The Employee Fright Fest Preview was last night. I wanted to give my quick review of this year's attractions without any big spoilers: 1. Voided Vision - I didn't notice a change at all from last year, so if you didn't like it last year..... 2. Blind Fury - This was my favorite one last year, and the maze seems to have been relatively untouched for 2014, but there are still a few fun surprised in store for Guests this year. I still thoroughly enjoyed it. 3. Insanity Alley - This is the only haunted house I wasn't able to get to. However, it is a good to note that the entrance and exit were switched this year. It seems to be a good thing. This way they have more queue space by Joke to leave Batman Plaza more open for the coaster crowd and the circus scare zone. 4. Slaughter House - Because this long haunt goes from outside, into a first building, and then into a second building, I was only able to do the final building due to being in a wheelchair. I actually didn't do the Slaughter House last year, so I'm not sure exactly what is new and what isn't, but even in that final building it was still a fun time. Just make sure you're ready for a bumpy ride.... 5. Radioactive Rails - I didn't do the Holidead train ride last year, so I'm not sure how this compares. However, I found the theming to be very impressive. It's going to be a fun, higher capacity haunt that those who are too scared to go into the walk through haunted houses will really enjoy. Besides, who doesn't like a nice break to just sit down and relax? The ride picks up at the Chicago station and ends at the St. Louis Station. I was surprised to see the theming at the stations. I had to go to the ramp in Chicago, but when you enter normally, you go through the little building that is pretty themed. Some other accents on the platform as well as what seems to be a fairly disgruntled employee from wearing a gas mask add to the mood. Luckily the train slows and stops multiple times making the ride about 15 minutes (from what we timed). It's not too short, not too long. My favorite parts are the use of fog. When the train is in some of the narrow parts with the foliage pressing in on both sides, the fog really makes it creepy. One interesting thing was it was a little bit hard to follow the story of the ride if you don't listen to the PA. It's not like it's absolutely vital, but I think that they could have made it more simplistic. Also, fans of the band Imagine Dragons rejoice, as a slightly remixed version on "Radioactive" is used as we make our way around Batman (which perfectly fits the theme of the train with it's industrial look). Finally, just make sure you go through the "decontamination zone" in the St. Louis station so you don't have any of the unwanted side effects. 6. Sinister Clowns - I really thought this was a cool scare zone last year in the way that the employee back area, giant purple wall, and spinning tunnel were utilized. This year, I actually prefer it in the Batman Plaza area (not just because the employee cafe has more room now). The thing about the Sinister Clowns and Gnawlin's Hollow scare zones last year was that they were like very, very short walk throughs. Have an emphasis on the scare actors out in the midways makes it much for fun as they are able to better interact with the Guests and make their way through the crowd. The area, with its lights and banners, is really cool from a visual perspective with lots of circus props. They were even able to dress up the old Batman queue concession stand to enhance the circus atmosphere. In case you were worried, the spinning tunnel is still there. 7. Gnawlins' Hollow - I did not make it to see the different actors here, but being there last weekend, the props are really cool, and having a good amount of actors there will allow them to use the bottleneck there to really scare the Guests as they pass by. 8. Zombieville & Zombie Paintball Apocalypse - Only a lucky few were able to experience the paintball, my guess due to cost. As I was not one of them, I also didn't make it up to check out the Zombieville area. Also keep an eye out for some of the Scooby props throughout the park, which will be used for years to come. One of them in particular made me say, "Zoinks!" I hope you enjoyed reading about some of the attractions for Fright Fest this year, and hopefully I'll see many of you out in the park this year. But once the freaks are unleashed, I think I'll stick to the safety of Guest Relations.

Woodie Warrior
I wish the train was an upcharge. It might make some people upset but the lines are horrendous and making it an upcharge would most likely reduce them.
Vonni
No, that is a horrible way and reason to improve capacity! The train is a staple at Fright Fest, especially for families!
prozach626
If cutting out a part of the ride means getting something that is a better ride, of course it's worth it. Yeah, that's what I was getting at. As long as it's not Goliath short, I'd be good with it. I'd surprised if our park did spring to have the entire layout converted. Anything RMC touches is gold right now, so there is no way it wouldn't become the best attraction in the park, IMO. No sir... that would be Mr. Freeze forward blast!... (I'm still butt hurt over the conversion)
StlSS
Went out to opening night last night was not disappointed blind fury was not bad the best part of the night was the park was low in attendance and the longest wait we had was Mr.Freeze at about 25 minutes on 1 train operation. Seems like all the roving actors are still getting into the swing of things they were just a bit "off" but as a whole pretty good visit.

Woodie Warrior
I'd love for the park to have a house out in the woods where you take the train and it drops you off out there. Never going to happen, but it would be interesting. USH does something similar with their tram tour at HHN. I am surprised they aren't doing the holiday theme for the terror train this year. The decorations last year were really cool looking, and Christmas decorations are not cheap. Maybe they got shipped off to another park in the chain that has a Holiday in the Park event. KevinM
No sir... that would be Mr. Freeze forward blast!... (I'm still butt hurt over the conversion) What? I think Reverse Blast has been a major improvement. The only major difference is going up the tower face-down, which I find to be far far more thrilling than face-up. (Sure, the launch is different, but IMO that launch is so weak, it's inconsequential.)
