Six Flags Over Texas (SFOT) Discussion Thread

Titan began braking the trains at the current level pretty quickly after it opened. You are correct about it operating without a complete stop before, but it never blazed through the MCBR either. The complete stop, I believe, became a necessity for the safety of riders, due to the extremity of the g-forces in the second half. I do like the hang-time you get if you sit on the left side of the train when it descends out of the MCBR.

My first few rides on Titan back in 2001 were lightly braked at best. Nowhere close to the full stops currently being administered. I can remember at least one ocassion were it seemed as if the train hadn't been braked at all. In other words, it sped right through the MCBR. But it wasn't long after that when they started bringing the trains to full stops on the MCBR. Probably due to complaints.

Up to the minute news! Within the last 10 minutes, Texas Sky Screamer was topped off! I had the privilege of being in the right place at the right time to film it. Video will be on YouTube shortly. For now, enjoy the pics!

Here is a really cool angle and a great perspective of just how tall this ride is. This pic is taken from the 2nd level inside Cowboys Stadium looking out across to the Rangers Ballpark. You can see the Texas Sky Screamer just towering over the ballpark and making Titan, Superman, and the Oil Derrick look tiny.

Ummm, WOW. That thing is freaking crazy-tall! Looks awesome, but I have to admit that thing would probably make me a smidge nervous!! Looking forward to seeing it test.

I've still not had a chance to ride one of these "star flyer" type swing rides, but I'm 100% positive I would find them more thrilling than the Windseekers.

A Good comparison between a Star Flyer and A Windseeker is: a DH Morgan Hyper Coaster and a B&M Hyper Coaster

Windseeker's are rigged and too-controlled for my taste.

Six Flags Over Texas wrote this under one of their posts about the topping of Texas Skysceamer on their Facebook page. "Thanks everyone! We are really excited too Once all of the groundwork was done, putting up the pieces of the Texas SkyScreamer was the fastest part. It was incredible! There’s still a lot more work to be done but look for the ride to open in late May!"

^Chad, is it still one ride a day for Platinum for NTAG or is it now unlimited rides?

Talked with Flash Pass today and I can see where I got my wires crossed. It's technically still one ride only on Giant (stupid, I mean how many people really buy the platinum flash pass on a busy day 50?, I guess in the summer more, but this season I think I have seen two people) Anyway, if it's a 'slow' day they will let you reserve additional rides if you stop back by the FP office.

Went to park today just to check things out and see Texas Sky Screamer up close. It was insanely crowded and busy. I guess a lot of schools were there for an "end-of-the-year" trip, combined with there being a cheerleading competition going on in the Amphitheater. Every major ride had a line at least an hour long, with most 2+ hours. Even the lines for food were 30 minutes or more at the main eateries. Needless to say, I walked around for a bit, took some pics, and will come back when it's way less crowded. But for now, enjoy the pics!

Man, it's tall!

Too tall to get the entire tower in 1 shot, so I attempted a panoramic pic. Hence, the slightly curved tower since I can't hold my hand steady. This is gonna make people think they didn't build it right!

$8.99 for a pretzel and water! What a deal! No wonder I never eat at the park...
