COASTER FREAK 11 Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 I can't tell if these people are trying to be serious or trying to make a big joke... If it doesnt make sence, they are joking.
Wes Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 There's nothing to joke about, the heartline replacement has been speculated about for the past few weeks and all of the reports coming in about the delays in construction obviously point towards this modification. Uni wants to claim another world's first with the element, which should be a really solid attendance driver in this economy.
Hockeyman55 Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 And where exactly would this heartline be installed? Going up the lift?
netdvn Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 ^ Yes, they'll modify the chain to fit around a heartline roll or use some sort of propulsion system (LIMs, Drive Tires) to get over the lift hill.
Hockeyman55 Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Heartline would be cool but i wouldnt put money on it. Now propultion i could see happening.
Hercules Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 There is nothing like adding an element like this to help drive up attendance. I say 500,000 more people this year if the modification is successful - this I promise you.
themeparkman25 Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 ^^Come on! It has the first twisting and heartlined loop, they just wanted to continue that theme throughout the rest of the ride.
Wes Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 It definitely WON'T be a standard chain. Since it will be twisting while going up, it will probably use LIMS similar to California Screamin's and Maverick's lifts to propel it up to the top of the hill.
cfc Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 I think they should launch each train with rockets, and after they reach near escape velocity, use GPS to guide them back to the track to finish the rest of the course. "Rockit" rockets, baby!
jedimaster1227 Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 ^The Jai Ho Roll is sponsored by the Pussycat Dolls, of course. Though I hear Universal has considered revamping Rockit within the next five years to become Hollywood Red Bull Rockit. You see, Red Bull is the only company ready to come to Universal's aid in light of its financial troubles--this is how they'll save themselves in the coming year... Take that Bizarro!
Wes Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Here's a piece of the modified track for HRRRR. You can see the slot where the LIM fin will go.
BeemerBoy Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 ^ Great find! So what does everyone think they should name the new element? I think they should stick with their original thought, but I doubt that will happen. Since the elements are related to music, how about "rain dance," to honor the Native Americans? Thoughts?
jjune4991 Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 ding ding ding...we have a winner! i hope. that would be cool to add that roll at the top. but do you think that maybe they just want to have the LIM instead of the chain? and that's why it's not being built?
Wes Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 ^ Look at the rails in pieces in the rest of the photo, they are obviously curved...it's not straight track.
jpdupuis Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Correct Me if I'm wrong Hollywood Rip Ride = Maurer Söhne Maverick Heartline Roll = Intamin So...it's not possible...?
Hockeyman55 Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 I was wondering the same thing. It would be like Mcdonalds using Burger King buns on a Big Mac.
DiSab Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 No, no. It's possible. They just have to do a little modification first. It'll be the newest Frankencoaster!
Wes Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 There will be some modifications made to the existing Intamin track to get it play right with the MS track, but luckily many of the features between the two are remarkably similar and will be able to work correctly. Obviously with this project there is no room for error and you can be assured MS, Intamin, and USF are all working together to get this new element in place as soon as possible.
Tchu Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Of course it's possible. It's metal. It's malleable. It can be cut down, welded and extended. Obviously the vertical, rising heartline roll is a new element, so regardless of who's track is used, its going to take some modifying. I have to admit... I'm surprised they're doing this. I know the plans originally called for the heartline twist in the lift and the twist at the top of the non-inverting loop, but I thought they had cancelled the roll for the lift. Originally, when Limp Bizkit was supposed to be partnered with HRRR, they were going to call one new element "Rollin (Urban Assault Vehicle) and one "Rollin (Air Raid Vehicle). But when Universal decided Limp Bizkit wasn't current enough to warrant the 20 million Fred Durst wanted to 'Sponsor dat mutha'... I thought they dumped the idea or the vertical twisting LIM lift. Really happy to see they've brought it back. And I think Rain Dance is a good name for the element.
alpengeist04 Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 But the real question is, will this be two credits? ...Since it will have coaster track from two different companies after all.
Wes Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 I've heard the element might be called "Tune Up" because the twist is similar to twisting the tuners on a guitar before playing. Makes sense.
