BiCoastal Kid
I'm trying to make one with some friends. Dude, is it bad that it's more advanced than Orphan Rocker?
zburns999
This is all really cool, but there is one thing I don't get. Wouldn't it be easiest to make a terrain bobsled coaster, kind of like that BobKart ride, rather than these crooked railed wooden coasters? MrMorgan
hey, does anyone remember or have the link to that backyard woodie that that kid was building someplace here in germany? it was like 30 feet tall and the shape of the first drop looked very "millenium force" like. anyone know what i'm talking about? de ja vu
when i was in third grade. me and my friend nash would get on a tire swing and an older kid whose name was max would push it up and around in cricles and then he would jump on making it gain speed. a few times after a felt like i would puke. and one day when a anthor kid pushed it both me and nash puked at least three times
Gnome
I am currently in the design for a traditional powered Wooden Coaster.
shesaidboom
I just found this back yard coaster the other night. I think it looks fun and it actually has airtime.http://www.jeremyreid.com/ That's actually very impressive. When I was little I used to drag a hose to the top of my swing set and run it down the slide to make a water slide. I'd also put one of those kiddie pools at the bottom so you'd splash into it at the end. Does that count?

Never thought of putting the pool at the bottom of the slide, but many times we put the hose on the slide. I must I admit I thought about building one of my own coasters, but never had the balls to go through with it. Even after seeing all these, I'm still not sure if I want to attempt it. Angry_Gumball
That looks so awesome. Didn't he have to tear it down or something?
spaminacan11
^Yea he had to tear it down because the construction of it did not meet some legal security thing.
MrMorgan
that looked so great! too bad he had to tear it down. the article says that, even though it was only being built for his personal use, he didn't register it with the "building department", and when they found out about it, he was forced to tear it down for fear it was unsafe. geez, you'd think he lived in america, or something. hehehe
arrowfanman
I know...thats the only reason I wont make one. I would so love too, but probably couldnt get a permit for something like that. As soon as someone gets a splinter, my ass would be sued!
coastakid
It looks safer than my house...lol
spaminacan11
That would suck so bad to go through all that planning, and working, and have to tear it down. If I was going to do something like that, I would move out to the middle of no where and uild it so no one would know about it.
Mystery
He had to tear in down. BUT Europapark bought the whole thing and he can finish it there
goliath101
wow i would ride that .... except that i might fall off, break my head open, and die..... :?
Angry_Gumball
I'm sorry to say, but legalitys always have to ruin things. For a second, I was thinking the kid built it in America, where he would be sued because it *looks* dangerous.
socalMAN123
That looked awesome! Personally, I've only made like one ride. It was in a park where they had this steep slide that was about 50-60 feet long. This was also the most dangerous thing I have ever done in my life. First you would put on your helmet. Then you would put a skateboard on the slide. After that you would sit on the skateboard and away you go! We got some serious speed on that thing! ---Brent 8)
Reon
*Uber-revives thread* Well, its been a much warmer winter than expected, so I may start Project Wildcat's (refer to page 3 for details) construction soon. Only one problem is that once again I'm thinking of revisions. Possibly a bobsled style run down the hill and through the 'tunnel', then snaking back up to a slope? For that case I'd use the side hill or have a starting ramp. Its either that or the out and back idea that was my latest revision. Thus I propose a pole: Vote for your favorite idea: *Out and back terrain coaster *Terrain bobsled with incomplete curcuit (think alpine coasterish) *Freefall with airtime hill *Other ideas... Angry_Gumball
Lol...I remember that project...Do you have any drawings to kinda work out your idea? Maybe you should re-create your backyard/terrain/property lines and height limit on NL and generate your coaster idea from there.
VegasCoaster
That last one looks insane, better than some actual coaster companies even! I've always wanted to build something in my backyard, but having a small backyard, costs and legal issues always got in the way.
Reon
I dont use NL. I posted some pics of the area I'm using a while ago. I'll see if I can find time to shoot some more...
verticalzero
Nice coaster but the layout needs to be better, How many G's does he pull going though the loop...?
Reon
OK. I uploaded a few more pics of the 'backyard' for you guys. Turns out I had them ever since the summer Anyway, this should give you an idea of the area I have to work with. Any suggestions? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v467/Reon_Skyridge/Rollercoasters/backyard%20coaster/projectwildcat.png http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v467/Reon_Skyridge/Rollercoasters/backyard%20coaster/backyard.png Also, remember this tunnel through the trees is a must unless I do a freefall ride... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v467/Reon_Skyridge/Rollercoasters/backyard%20coaster/IMG_0221.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v467/Reon_Skyridge/Rollercoasters/backyard%20coaster/IMG_0222.jpg
