cfc Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 (edited) Personally I wish CP would have done this over Gatekeeper. As much as I like GateKeeper I have to agree with this, the $25-28 mil CP dropped on GateKeeper could've gotten them an RMC treatment for Mean Streak, plus another smaller attraction like a Premier custom launcher, or a Euro fighter etc; In terms of receiving a return on investment, I remember Kinzel on record saying TTD was the biggest mistake he'd ever made. Maybe at the time it was considering all the problems but GK to me was a bigger mistake (even though he didn't make it) just because it was so damn expensive and will never get the attention/hype/fan appreciation of TTD. Although I don't care for Gatekeeper, it does give the park a more dramatic entrance. I imagine Cedar Fair will work with RMC at some point. It all depends on what they need. Agree with this 100% It's the single most aesthetically pleasing part of the park albeit an overpriced one lol

Yeah, I thought that too initially. But it is actually a great all-purpose ride for Cedar Point. Behind dramatically enhancing the entrance and making a formally abandoned part of the park feel renewed (and distribute the crowds better), it's a people-pleaser coaster that actually cuts across a pretty wide section of coaster fans. It has GREAT capacity and so can handle Cedar Point summer lines (unlike TTD). I think it ended up being a good investment.
cfc Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 ^I wouldn't call Gatekeeper a "bad investment," either. I just don't care for it; however, it does seem to be a fairly good draw for guests.
Snowyowl1028 Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 I would love to see it happen soon, but my guess would be they won't for a while. Maybe 2019.
JJLehto Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Hopefully soon! The irony is I don't think CF has quite as many woodens that need a conversion. It may be a little soon for CP given they just had Gatekeeper, but Mean Streak really needs it. The Hurlers are another obviously (and I think could be fun if smooth, faster and with some nice airtime hills) I know I am missing some others, though they have a lot that are too classic/good enough imo. CF could get some original RMCs though Dorney is super cramped on space, but an original RMC there would help put that park on the map, and its only a bit over an hour from me lol EDIT: Oh, Ghostrider. Yeah, forgot about that one. That may also be a prime candidate
WonderlandFan Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 I too think it'll be CW's Minebuster. Wonderland seems to be CF's main "test" park, and Minebuster's a pretty well known ride there that needs some TLC. I wouldnt say Canadas Wonderland is Cedar Fair's test park by any means (especially considering it was owned by Paramount up until a few years ago). Sure, they were the first with a dark ride, but thats pretty much it. They tested out the first Giga there! You could argue that wasn't a "test" but it sure was the first out there, and now it appears more of them are gonna go around in the chain... Millennium Force and I305 would like to have a word with you..... I think he meant B&M Giga
VegasBaby Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Ghostrider already has an amazing layout, topper track would suit it just fine as well as some new trains. I still remember how great the ride was for the first 4-5 years, very sad the last time I rode it and it was absolute garbage. Agree on GR, the layout is still amazing and topper track + new trains would make it a top woodie once again. There's no need to do the full iron horse treatment, especially since SFMM just did it with Twisted Colossus. Topper track would keep the old school woodie feel, but it would run like new for years to come. However, Mean Streak should definitely go the with full iron horse treatment and it would give CP another marquee attraction.
Kyle Coleman Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Take this with a grain of salt but screamscape is reporting that knotts big project for 2016 could be a big overhaul of ghost town which would include ghostrider getting the topper track treatment. But, it is screamscape so who knows if its true or not.
Manic Monte Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 I have also heard rumors from other sources that Knotts will be the first to partner with RMC.
AllenA07 Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 I would love to see Ghostrider get some love. That coaster was on nearly everyone's top ten list when it opened. I still consider it the best wooden coaster I've ever been on (circa 1999). It's a shame how much that coaster has degraded over the years.

I'd be fine with Topper track for Ghost Rider as long as they keep the layout roughly the same and don't add inversions to it.
Keetz Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 While Carowinds is probably taking Thunder Road down for a water park expansion, it would be cool to see a slightly subdued RMC treatment to it, or Rebel Yell at KD. 1) Make the drop a little bit taller and steeper 2) Tighten up the air time hills for crazy airtime 3) Make a high five element 4) Make the turn around into a crazy airtime twisty bit 5) Tighten up the return airtime hills It would give the coaster great airtime, a RMC twist, and maintain the classic look. A thrilling racing coaster that still looks family friendly
baileybrucem Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Hmm Timber Wolf could be amazing with a RMC treatment! Honestly nearly anything could be! I'd take timberwolf out of the question. While it is full of enormous potential as an RMC coaster, it has already been confirmed that the whole ride is being retracked with GCI, and they are already about done with the first of 3 phases. I really think the mine buster or Mean Streak would be a great test coaster
