Mitch Hawker's AWESOME steel roller coaster poll is once again back this year ! Lots of great roller coasters have been built this year, and it's now time to choose your favorites !

Also, remember that every vote counts, no matter if you have been on 5 or 500 coasters !

You can find the instructions here : http://www.ushsho.com/steel_instructions_2013.txt

If it's your first time taking the poll, here's TPR's idiot guide to Mitch Hawker's poll, or you can also try out Jordan's ballot generator which works very well.

The deadline to cast your vote is March 31rst !

Which coaster do you think will end up #1 ?

Okay people, remember to be honest now!

No favoring coasters because the park was nice, no hating on coaster because the park was bad. No rating down coasters because you want it below your top coaster and so on....

it would be nice to see a new coaster on top of the list.

Just one thing: I know this may sound ridiculous but given that I've basically only been on 1 family ride (big thunder mountain) should I rank it according to how good it is for its kind or how much I like to ride it compared to the other coasters I've been on? Because that would make a huge difference to me.

Here's my top 10, some changes have been made this year!

1. Piraten - still the best in the world for me, nothing else beats it!

2. Expedition Geforce - Not much needs to be said here, amazing ride, but not as strong ejector as the megalite.

3. Insane - One of my absolute favorites, I can marathon this ride 30 times like no other.

4. Speed Monster - I got a new appreciation for it this summer, owning a season pass. It just have everything.

5. Stealth - Best launch in the world, awesome air on the top hat. Otherwise not much.

6. Black Mamba - Awesome ride + awesome theme = world class coaster.

7. Juvelen - the big surprise this year! It's such an amazingly fun ride, and well worthy of it's 7th place.

8. Blue Fire - Although tame, the interesting layout and the amazingly smooth ride with the freedom of the trains make it a top 10.

9. Krake - I'm not a big fan of B&M coasters, but this one is pure fun, along with a gorgeous setting and theme.

10. Jetline - old, powerful and perfect!

Does anyone else have a problem with many family and jr. coasters not being on the ballot anymore? I know they do get the lowest scores so they would be near the bottom, but why take them out when they are still functioning roller coasters? I find this to be a problem, especially with my home park having a very nice custom jr. coaster, (BomBora.)

no hating on coaster because the park was bad.

I have to be honest, the setting and park that a coaster is in DOES actually influence my vote. While maybe not by much, but if let's say I'm on the fence about a placement of a ride, the park that the ride sits it could very well be a deciding factor for me. And I think it's totally fair to rank accordingly. IMO, ranking should be based on your entire "experience" not just from the moment the train leaves the station to when it hits the brakes.

Fortunately for me, though, I think most of my top coasters are in parks that I do actually like!

I didn't get to do my ballot yet but this is my girlfriend's. No matter how much I tried to reason with her she loves Wingriders and Pony Express a lot and doesn't like Skyrush or Bizarro at SFNE at all because "the bars dig into the sides of her legs".

I added four to my top ten last year! And the only reason why I didn't have a new 1st was because Skyrush's restrains hurt me like hell, so it dropped to third.

No, I don't. If Mitch needs to limit the number of coasters due to the limits of the spreadsheet and/or his algorithm I have no issue. The main purpose of the poll is to determine which coaster is number one, not which one is number 78.

I agree with this. The most important numbers in the poll are going to be the top 25 and the bottom 10. With so many steel coasters in the world, it makes it impossible to list each one, so you have to draw the line somewhere.

I feel that if there was a family or jr coaster that enough enthusiasts felt was "important" to have on the list, they would contact Mitch for it's consideration on the ballot. So far, I'm not sure that has ever happened.

Well, Wild Train is already on the Ballot anyway....The system works!

Only thing I was surprised about was that the El Locos got grouped....The one at Adventuredome I reckon will be better received than the earlier ones for instance.

I'm pretty sure this is probably because the ballot was in the works before the coaster opened, and I'm sure if enough people feel strongly about breaking that one out on it's own, they can send a message to Mitch and he would consider it.

Green Lantern at Movie World is one of my favourite "weird" coasters, so I'd prefer to vote for it specifically rather than the generic El Loco group. That said, they are all pretty similar rides, and are unlikely to be in the top 20, so the grouping does make sense.

Is there any major difference with Green Lantern compared to the other layouts, other than the trains?

Yeah the ballot list seems a lot more compact this year with the enhanced groupings. It wouldn't surprise if El Loco is on next year's ballot in it's own right because it is so unique.

Only gotten through my top 30 so far, though I can't see any challenger to Goudurix at the other end. Having had a large number of rides on Maverick (or Mavershark, if you ride it during Shark Week) last year, it has been huge mover as I only previously rode it 3 times in 2007.

Not really. I'm pretty sure that it's a little bit wider overall due to the increased clearances needed for the four-across trains though.
