ultradude306 Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 I am about to go to a park that owns one, and i was wondering if it was worth the extra cash for the ride. You know, those reverse bungee rides you often find at six flags parks and carnivals. Has anybody rode one, and can they say how the experience was (g-forces, airtime, intensity in general). Feedback would be great, and if I manage to ride it, I'll probably write a review and post it here on TPR.
Angry_Gumball Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 I was about to do SFMM's bungee slingshot when I was down there but concentrated on coasters instead. Closest I've done, though technically it's not a bungee as it was attached to cables and launched via compressed air were those S&S Absolutely Insane (I think that's what they're called) attractions. The Absolutely Insane, named Thrill Shot, was down at SFMM. Same principal, a little more restricting as far as flips and such goes.
harper83087 Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 I rode the one at Kings Island and would ride it again for sure. Can't recall the forces off hand because it was a while ago but I remember it being an absolute blast.
B&MBoy1982 Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 I've done the one at KI several times. If you time it just right, it's $5 per rider. This is the only time I ride. I don't like paying extra for certain attractions.
KingRCT3 Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 I've been on an Ejection Seat, which is more powerful than a Slingshot (it uses elastics instead of springs): I absolutely loved the launch, that's something I never experienced before. You just get thrown up in the air, without being linked to a tower or a track, that's amazing. Then the first loop is very high, that's so scary. But then, the ball gets crazy and smashes you around, back and forth... I don't like it. So yeah, it's a win, but a crap at the same time. I think you should do it at least once, because the launch is something you won't find on any coaster.
MrSum1_55 Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 I have ridden an elastic slingshot. And I will say, it was the biggest piece of crap I have ever ridden. I would rather marathon an SLC 20 times than ride that again. The center of gravity on the ball seemed very low, to the point of which i often came to the bottom upside down, which is not a pleasant experience. The entire time, my head was excessively being banged against the headrest; the head banging was so bad, I can't even imagine a Togo coaster being worse than this. I have yet to give the spring type (which is the more common type) a chance.
XII Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 I've ridden the slingshot @ SFMM several times. It's fun, but I would not pay the really high price they charge for it.
ultradude306 Posted June 9, 2013 Author Posted June 9, 2013 I have ridden an elastic slingshot. Well, from what u've seen on YouTube, the spring type look a lot smother, yet at the same time quite intense... There's probably a reason that the more comon type isn't the elastic kind. Pretty sure La Ronde (the park that owns the ride), owns the smother more tolerable version, according to this thread, version. Even more pumped to ride this now
rcrider4 Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 I rode a spring-based one at our state fair and it was a blast. Very smooth launch, but still forceful, and it wasn't rough at all. Its price was ridiculous though...
Sir Clinksalot Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 I did the one at SFMM earlier this year, it was fun but I can't handle the constant flipping (probably 7 or 8 times) so I wouldn't ride it again.
SFMMGeek27 Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 I've been on the ones at SFMM and KD. They are good but not worth more than $10-$15 per person. Its definitely worth a try and they are very enjoyable. I loved them.
PKI Jizzman Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 It's the one thing that terrifies me. But the capacity is terrible. They take a long time to load and unload, so if there is only 10 people in line and it's 10-15 bucks and you haven't done it; sure go for it.
BigBomer Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 I've done the one at Fiesta Texas a few times. Is it fun? Yes. Worth the price? Not so much. It gave about the same amount of air as a S&S shot tower, which La Ronde has.
necoastergp Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 I agree with most of the sentiments here. I've ridden the one at SFNE, I found it way more fun and smooth than I expected. I thought it would be scarier than it was, but to everyone else's point I would definitely try it out but not for more than $10-15. I'm the same way with sky coasters if they have discounted rides I'll do it, but not for the normal outrageous pricing.
dropzonefan Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 I never have, but I really want to... They look really expensive tho
Meteornotes Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 I've been on one, and it was fun, but I wouldn't go out of my way to ride another one. dt
gisco Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 I have been on them a few times but after riding them once, it is not worth the up charge for me. I would only go on them again if the people I was with insisted.
daniellazarus Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Yes, 3 times this summer at SFFT. Awesome ride!
canadianparkfan Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Did a quick search of the forums, and found this. I' be pretty curious to know what it's like. I really don't have any of these things near me, sadly
