larrygator Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 (edited) New Hotness was the first US TPR Trip I have taken. I actually really like driving and traveling to US parks. However, doing this many parks in succession is greatly enhanced and stress free when you don't have to drive, are traveling with friends and enjoy the perks provided by Robb and Elissa. Although I took my camera, I did not take a lot of pictures, so you are not going to see a lot of exciting coasters, traveling with TPR allows you to explore more of each park and pace yourself. We started at Coney Island, and without TPR I need would have taken the time to ride the Go Karts at Scream Zone, possibly the best go karts I've ridden at a park (outside of PowerPark). Breakfast of Champions. Bacon makes bacon better. I introduced EB (Dutch) and Brad (UK) to turkey legs at SFGAdv. EB seemed to enjoy it. As did Brad (or James and Nick or whatever his name is) Employees testing the new Fender benders at SFGAdv. Credit whores at Knoebels Also spotting a bunch of strange foreigners at Knoebels, well Priscilla is not 100% foreign. Russ, Thad and Brad sample Knoebel's Cheese on a Stick. I warned everyone that when the gate opens you better run to an outside horse on the Grand Carousel as the kids are animals running to those horses. Thad didn't listen and got stuck sitting on a bench. Russ amuses me by taking a picture at Hershey's height requirement signs. I tricked a crew of people into riding the "air conditioned" monorail. The old chocolate factory Enjoying milk shakes. Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, mmmmm! Our walk back tour of I305 was cut short because Aussie Steve broke to coaster, that's him waving to us from the last row. Thanks Steve. A sphincter says what. What? hehehehe Our free meal coupon at KD included the option to eat at Chick-Fil-A. It was my pleasure to eat there. Spicy Chicken Sandwich, FTW. The next day we had a backstage tour at BGW. inside the booth of the person that controls the fire on Escape from Pompeii Pompeii Floor Plan Disabling Lock Station on Griffon How many red button jokes are too many? It is Chuck's home park. Noted While exploring Ober Gatlinburg Brad and I discovered The Pepper Palace and did a lot of free tasting. That one with the feathers, West African Voodoo Sauce was the hottest one I tried. Brad checked out the Adult only section and found this. BTW - nice goggles! Brad must have liked the Alien Anal Probe as he spent almost $200 in the store, so much for "FREE" samples. After doing Ripley's Haunted Adventure we ran into Robb and Elissa and came upon an updated version of Desperados, and a new 5D Pirates shooting ride. EPIC and AWESOME! I take pictures like this on walkback tours. I hope someone enjoys this photo even though someone most have posted it previously. I enjoyed the exhibit currently on loan to the park. At Lake Winnie I find more credit whores. We also checked out the recently rethemed Wacky Factory. Any SF park would have had kids walking right into the lake. Thanks to Tyler we got ERT on The Wheelie at SFoG. Did I really just thank Tyler? EB enjoyed the Sky Buckets Robb choreographing a group photo Just standing by, in case of fire. Besties Great shirt. The girl wearing this shirt was part of a family of Michigan fans. Apparently, she had to fight her little brothers to determine who got to wear this shirt. Scenes from the boneyard Welcome to the SEC I didn't get any closer for fear it was an Intamin. Edited August 19, 2012 by larrygator
SharkTums Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 I'm kind of thinking this should be our next TPR Midwest Trip shirt!
larrygator Posted August 19, 2012 Author Posted August 19, 2012 What struck me as amusing was that it has relevance in both the college football and the coaster world
mousch Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Nice photos Larry, bringing back memories of a great trip. Thanks for my crap for bringing you some maps Jason
cfc Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 A pirate ride using the Desperados ride system--you intrigue me, sir. Was Wacky Factory an improvement of the old-and-busted dark that used to be in the building at Lake Winnie?
SharkTums Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Wacky Factory was neither wacky nor a factory. It was a bit confusing and had several areas with nothing. I don't remember much of the old dark ride but I can't imagine it's an improvement.
chickenbowl Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 ^But it did have a room filled with tin foil! Oh man, I only liked it for ironic reasons, also because Adam had to ride with some random 8 year old girl. I liked it the same way I liked Jurassic Jungle Boat Ride!
theflamingbrick Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Nice to see you get my name right for at least the first picture Larry!

cal1br3tto Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Darn. I skipped the Coney Go-Karts because we thought they looked, well, terrible. Oh well, I'll be back. I'm going to have to take your lead and condense my own report down to something much less than one post per park. P.S. I probably say this at every opportunity nowadays, but...I miss Knoebels.
paiging_jen Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Do you really still own a UF vs. Nebraska Fiesta Bowl shirt? And I absolutely love the Ohio shirt, it would be nice to see that in orange & blue.
sspaz1000 Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Great report larry! Looks like you had a great time!
SharkTums Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Do you really still own a UF vs. Nebraska Fiesta Bowl shirt? And I absolutely love the Ohio shirt, it would be nice to see that in orange & blue. Larry has the best wardrobe of any coaster enthusiast. People who wear the Dueling Dragons Tye-Dye Shirt look up to him.
beatle11 Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 They should just send that to Six Flags America. It would fit in perfectly!
theonetheonlyJT Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 ^ Just give it some new paint and put it next to Apocalypse as theming(yes I get the joke by the way).
larrygator Posted August 20, 2012 Author Posted August 20, 2012 Do you really still own a UF vs. Nebraska Fiesta Bowl shirt? I'm a pack rat. I had so many t-shirts that I had not been worn in years. I finally got rid of the last of them on this trip, I threw the Fiesta Bowl shirt out the next morning. Even though Florida got whooped, it was our first national championship game and I was very proud to even be at that game. I was there before Spurrier, and it's always good to remember the humble beginings.

larrygator Posted August 20, 2012 Author Posted August 20, 2012 ^I do still have my orange #22 mesh Emmitt Smith jersey, that I'll never throw out.
paiging_jen Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 ^And rightly so! There are pictures of an 18 year old recruit named Emmitt Smith at the Orange & Blue game on my fridge.
caffeine_demon Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 They should just send that to Six Flags America. It would fit in perfectly! nah - gives too much shade!!

BeemerBoy Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 - That Ohio shirt is the greatest shirt ever. - The Wacky Factory has new paint. That's about the only difference I've noticed. Another award-winning report, Larry. Well, "award-winning" if I were handing them out, I guess.
