This is really awesome. Iloverides and Weetopia2's designs are really good. I really like the logo without the tag line like Iloverides did. Not sure where else it could go if Robb still wants it somewhere on the page. Maybe giving up 'some' brand identity is too minimalist

Just another thought -- tabs:

Weetopia2's tab idea may work a bit better since the tabs are prominent and really grab your attention, like a vertical menu bar. I've only ever asked a designer to use tabs for internal Intranet sites or Lotus databases for information that people need and must click to access/ view since user feedback was that they would rarely click on a tab to see what's there unless they absolutely had to. It depends on what content will be hidden from view and its importance of being accessed.

Maybe each tab can rotate randomly as to which will be displayed at each visit?

Well, I tried to make a combination of some desings around here. Hope nobody offends or cares about using parts of his design, it's just to see how it would look if the ideas that people seem to like are combined.

Why is everyone creative when I go to bed?

So far I think davids (iloverides) is the best. Any version. On my iPad I can't see the subtle differences that well to definitively decide which version like best.

Though what dkr just did is also pretty cool. What I like most about that is the username and log in fields at the top under the tabs.

Right now TPR has a simple but cluttered home page. I wanted to come up with something new and fresh, but still very familiar of the TPR brand. It is a simple concept but it offers a fresh and more modern look without getting messy and complicated.

The main picture is scrollable as well as the three updates below. I've included a randomize button because let's face it, there's some crazy stuff just waiting to be found on this site!! The random stuff area can change between videos, photos and reports.

The biggest change is moving the menu to the left of the screen. I didn't do a concept of the pull down menu but if a pull down was opened it would move the other menu buttons down to replace the TPR motto thing, and a new subset would appear under the opened menu until a link was clicked or another menu button was chosen.

The announcement area on the bottom of the screen is just clickable links.

If the Seaworld update box was hovered over, the other two updates would fade and a text preview of what the update is about would take their places until clicked or the mouse was moved.

Let me know what you think.

David, you did a great job of fusing Apple and TPR. Really, that looks great! And you know it's a great design when you have to stare at it for a while to find "flaws," for lack of a better word.

Couple thoughts:

- Are we doing away with the tagline? Personally, I've never been a huge fan of it, but never hated it either. I think your vision of the homepage marries fun and professionalism perfectly without it. Just a thought.

- I'm not quite sure about the size of the main picture. Maybe it translates better in a full screen view? With that said, I'm torn after looking at DKR's "re-imagined" take on your concept. I like the slimmed-down version of the picture, with a little more content underneath it. But then again, yours just looks so good too.

- The more I type, the more confused I get.

Why would they? We're all in for the same goal

Okay, so here's my latest design.

DKR, I like your latest a lot!

I would like to see it with the top that user iloverides did. Meaning where it says Theme Park Review and what all the sections look like (don't like the tab look)

I also would love to see it with two more sections added to the bottom just above the mailing list. Facebook/Twitter Feed and video of the day.

I think we're really getting close!

I agree with this! I think if DKR took his font color and style and put in on ILoveRides menu bar, it would be a perfect combo.

One small detail that seems pretty cool is what AlmereStars did with the Club TPR font on his tabs. That's a nice touch.

I also kind of like the content boxes he created. I don't know if that'd be too much to integrate into David's/DKR's designs, but it's the best look I've seen yet for Facebook, "Video of the Day," etc.

I agree with Elissa that the top of David's is great as it is, the only change I would ask for would be to see again what a drop down menu on yours looks like.

Also, Though I like DKR's newest, I still feel with the two extra boxes at the bottom gives a slight cluttered feel. I would like to see in the Bar that says "All Updates, Official TPR Updates" "Video of the Day" and "Annoucements" should be added

Also, is the Annoucement "text" above the large image a scrolling text?

EDIT: Even though nobody's gonna like my opinion, bgwfans.com new home page is probably on of the better homepages I have seen.

See, these look fantastic, but I think that there's a recurring problem. They're too wide. Sure, the images themselves will fit on iPads and the like just fine. But when you execute them, won't the ads flanking either side of the site become a problem for those users? The ads would make the site go beyond 1024px wide.

Or do the ads not show up on tablets? If that's the case, ignore that.

I know that I'm probably beating a dead horse now that we really like DKR and ILoveRides' designs, but I'm going to keep going on mine today, which is dramatically different from either of them.

A.J.,

When I view items on my iPad, the ads don't show up. It's like they are there when the page is loading, and then after the page fully loads they are gone. Don't know if anyone else experiences that, but I noticed that today when looking at the forum.

That makes me feel a little bit better. Maybe I should go out and get myself a tablet.

Here's mine again, now with the upper stuff.

The menu bar across the top would be consolidated into two collapsible menu bars anchored to either side of the page. "Community" houses links to the forum, the park index, Coastertube, and the game exchange. "TPR" houses links to the store, the trips page, Club TPR, and the contact us link.

"Announcements" houses two text-only announcements. You'd click on the text and you would be directed to the corresponding page.

The slogan is "Theme Parks - Roller Coasters - Fun" because I like that one better.

Click for actual size. 1024px by 1280px, it will probably end up being 1024x1440 when it's finished.

It's nowhere near as "2012" as ILoveRides', DKR's, and AlmereStars, but I focused more on how the content is laid out rather than the looks.

Awesome designs lately! I love "iloveride's" design but I think it's almost too simple. I see it and then automatically think, that's it? Also it doesn't have a dedicated ad section, video, etc but your probably not done! I really like it though!!

When I come up with my concept this weekend, I plan on putting the logo in the middle, 4 "buttons" on each side. I drew it in my concept but I guess it was too hard to see...

Hello All TPR Peoples...

Although I visit the site often, this is my first post in the Forum.

Here are some contributions/varieties to the homepage design. I have four here to present. Forgive me, but I have not been able to read through all of your comments prior to this post, so some issues may have been discussed that I did not notice. I'm sure I will hear them though!

Thanks...Good job to all designers who took a shot.

CK

^Just a quick thought. On a couple of those, why is Random Stuff above announcements? It's been talked about before that Announcements are more important than random stuff. But I would also encourage you to go back and read a lot of the previous comments on this thread, as a lot of feedback and suggestions on what is liked and not liked has been given already.
