Lucas.Almeida
Hopi Hari, a Brasilian amusement park, is planning to introduce a new rollercoaster ride, keeping in mind the World Cup of Soccer of 2014 in Brasil. It will be a record breaking multiloop coaster of Intamin, with 12 inversions. 12 times upside down! The current word record of inversions on a roller coaster is set to 10. Both Colossus in Thorpe Park as 10 Inversion Coaster in the Chinese amusement park Chimelong Paradise have an Intamin ten-looper model. Eejanaika and X2 are also being mentioned inside the Guiness Book of Records with 14 inversions, but this is because during the ride the visitors are being flipped over by a second rail. The track layout itself only contains two inversions. It's a similar discussion about a boomerang coaster: it has three physical inversions, but during a ride you go six times upside down! The new 12-loop rollercoaster has been on the product list of Intamin for a while. So now they have found a customer willing to buy this extreme experience. This coaster ride has a maximum heighth of 44 meter and a length of almost 1,5 km. Compared to the 10-looper, this ride has a quick 180° turn after the steep first drop, leading to some kind of Pretzel-loop, a double inversion element. The rest of the journey looks to be quite identical to what Colossus has to offer. Source: http://www.parkworld.be/en/seizoen-2012/hopi-hari-gaat-voor-inversie-record Remember, the Hopi Hari has 4 roller coasters in the park. The Montezum (wood), Katapul (formerly the Alton Towers Thunderlooper) Vurang (indoor - in the dark) and a child-Billi Billi. Already posted an article on the Hopi Hari Theme Park here in TPR, if you see the following link: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=59544&hilit=Hopi+Hari Tks Edited September 2, 2011 by Lucas.Almeida
scooterdoug
Very cool! I'm glad to see a park will finally be building this impressive tangle of steel. Though, I am (and always have been) confused about the Eejanaika record that was mentioned above. I ride that thing 3 times, and was fully inverted (feet above my head) MAYBE 5 times throughout the course of the ride. Perhaps less, but certainly not 14. I'm not quite sure why Guinness slapped the 14-inversions record on there. Still, on topic, I look forward to seeing the POV, as I doubt I will ever get a chance to head down south and try it out myself.
CoasterCreator9
That's interesting.. There's a No Limits track that I have sitting around that looks exactly like that.
Intarider
Now this sounds great! What I especially like about this concept is that it isn't purely based on inversions, but also has two or three airtime hills thrown in. Also, compared to Colossus, there are more "classic" inversions and fewer heartline rolls what makes the ride more diversified. It will be interesting to see if Intamin will go with the standard 3- and 4-tube track or with the new double backbone rails like on Intmidator 305. Furthermore I wonder which lift system (probably a cable lift) and which trains will be used, but time will tell. Oh, and the Aquatrax rumor still rules because no park has decided to build another one yet! By the way: That's interesting.. There's a No Limits track that I have sitting around that looks exactly like that. I believe someone posted the recreation in the Intamin 12-inversion-coaster discussion thread. dragonskeep
It looks like as many as 3 low to the ground heartline rolls, am I seeing that right? I wonder what the speed will be through those and if they are much like Maverick's was. The ride looks pretty wild, I would love to try it out. Can't wait to see it done and running. SixFlagsBoy
Man thats insaine! I am becoming more and more a Intamin fan. I was a huge fan of B&M's but Intamin WOW! BTW I would so ride that!!
805Andrew
Looks awesome, this will put Hopi Hari on the map if it gets built.
anthoni_
Oh my God! If this coaster really comes to Brazil I MUST. VISIT. HOPI. HARI. Seriously, the park is really growing and this coaster surely will be an incentive for adventure seekers to visit brazilian parks!

I wonder what the speed will be through those and if they are much like Maverick's was. I don't think they are comparable to Maverick's. The roll on Maverick was forseen to be taken at a very high speed, but on the 12-Inversion-coaster they are on the end of the layout, and a steel coaster with only a 40m drop gets really slow after 1500 meters. I think the experience of the rolls will be very similar to Colossus' heartline rolls.
Totopez
Looks like the trip to Brazil for the 2014 World Cup just got a little bit more likely to take place. Let's just hope that Sweden qualifies...
Thuur
Well... I am glad to see the 'Norwegian loop' get's used again. Also nice to see this coaster has a few more curves then the current 10 loopers, but still... not so impressive in my opinion. Would be nice to it build though, just to see how far we can go with inversions (Who will build the first 13 looper?)

Though, it's not that big of a deal, all I see is too many corkscrews and heartline rolls. I believe that once you go over 8 inversions, the coaster is getting boring because all you really do on the coaster is go through inversions. Gutterflower
Sounds like the ride could get a theme from one of the Justice League characters, Superman of Green Lantern perhaps? Isn't there a new Superman film on the way out soon?

Lucas.Almeida
Sounds like the ride could get a theme from one of the Justice League characters, Superman of Green Lantern perhaps? Isn't there a new Superman film on the way out soon? Not! The 12 inversions will be in Wild West, one of five thematic areas of Hopi Hari. The Justice League character will stay in Aribabiba - another area of the park. There rumors (only rumors) that he had a "Bizarro" or one Zac Spin, for Intamin. deathbydinn
This just in from Screamscape. Hopi Hari has announced that they will install a “new version” of an Intamin 10 inversion steel coaster for 2012. The park will have a name the ride contest in the near future, but it will be located in their Wild West section, feature two new open style trains. It will have a track length of 875 meters (2870 ft) and a first drop of 33 meters (108 ft) taken at a 45º angle. http://www.screamscape.com/html/small_international_parks.htm#HopiHari
Intarider
That's pretty much what I expected. It seems to be identical to Colossus layout-wise, however the new trains sound interesting. Probably they will have the i305-style restraints, still hoping for lapbars only, though.
Gutterflower
It's actually 10ft taller and 100ft longer (ish) than Colossos so it sounds like it might be bit more varied in it's inversions. Thinking about it, a colossos clone would be an odd choice with Terra Encantada and Monte Makaya a little way away.
RFV94
Who would come to Hopi Hari would be Makaya (Terra Encantada is defunct). Cheap option and so close to Hopi Hari. However, problems with the purchase (Makaya and other attractions of Terra Encantada are in justice) and the physical state of the rollercoaster (Hopi Hari came here to test it and did not like it) blocked the purchase. I believe they went to Thorpe Park and see the 10-Inversion model, Colossus. They liked, and brought it. The proposal of Hopi Hari was not a megacoaster for example. The objective was to increase the number of inversions and have a "giant" of steel! Yes, this is not our sweet spot, far from it, but do not have to think about ourselves, but in the mass-audience, which does not even realize what is a Colossus! It will be a great marketing in Brazil and is expected to attract more Brazilians than it attracts. 10 inversions is a lot to an audience that only has the loop of Katapul!´ Look out a text about the new rollercoaster of Hopi Hari: "Hopi Hari Theme Park is the first park in the world to feature the new version of 10inversion rollercoaster, representing an investment of R$ 50 million. New features include trains more comfortable for visitors, they are also more open, providing much more adrenaline. The lift is almost four times higher, reaching 20 km / h, and the curve after the increase was extinct: the fall is immediate, making the experience more exciting. Specifications of the new roller coaster Steel rails Maximum speed is 85 km / h The first descent is made from a height of 33 meters Degree of Climb: 30 degrees Degree of descent: 45 degrees 875 meters Time of Drive: 140 seconds The attraction will work with two trains High capacity: 1200 visitors / hour
Intarider
20 km/h sounds like a cable lift, which would be a new feature on Intamin's looping coasters. It's actually 10ft taller and 100ft longer (ish) than Colossos so it sounds like it might be bit more varied in it's inversions. I presume these small differences might very well be a result of an additional transfer track (length) or a little different terrain (height). gisco
So it looks like they are only going to 10 inversions. No record breaker. I don't think it matters anyway. The park is catering to mostly locals not international travelers like a lot of us are. They have nothing even close to like it so it should be a big hit. But it also makes another reason for a TPR South America trip!
Gutterflower
and the curve after the increase was extinct: the fall is immediate, making the experience more exciting. This bit suggests the drop will be different at least which could account for the extra length and height.
_koppen
I'm guessing for triangle or square track on the lifthill to allow for fewer suports, and a different drop.
WFChris
I believe the 100 extra feet of track is simply extra station or transfer track. You cannot make ANY elements out of 100 feet.
coasterfreak101
^I think some people are thinking that maybe the layout is shifted around to be unique from the other ten-inversion coasters, and that's what's contributing to the different height and length. Keep in mind, the drop is also taller than the existing ones as well.
