DenDen Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Fort Lauderdale: Last night, (around 12AM) a couple convenience stores "ran out" of gas, and others spiked the price over the $3 mark, but the cheap-o places were still at $2.89. A customer at work told me that Port Everglades (Our shipping port here) is OUT of gas to ship in the south west. We're screwed!
BiCoastal Kid Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Let's see... The morning of August 31 here, gas was around 2.40-2.50. The night of August 31 here, gas was around 3.29. Today, it is 3.40.
robbalvey Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 I paid $3.03 today at the Chevron station at the bottom of road leading to Six Flags Magic Mountain. There was no one there, so getting gas was not a problem. --Robb
CoasterCrazy Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 There are five different gas stations near my house and two of them are OUT of gas! I'm glad that I drive a four cylinder car!
robbalvey Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 If I eat at Taco Bell for lunch I'll have plenty of gas for most of Santa Monica!
Token Yankee Guy Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 at the local gas station in my town, the sign they got posted that shows the gas prices is decieving. First off, they don't have the numbers for the 2 or 3 dollars, so they put up a piece of paper over the 1. Now from the road it looks like gas is for .05 cents a gallon. But when you pull up, you can easily see it's 3.05/gallon
OzCatter Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Was $3.09 yesterday at this time, hit $3.19 a hour later. Now I beleive it's at $3.50? -Cal
PhishyBrewer Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 (edited) If I eat at Taco Bell for lunch I'll have plenty of gas for most of Santa Monica! Yummy! Crunchwrapper! Oh, and I paid $3.15 yesteday in Sacramento. It's been $3.00+ for weeks here. Haven't had to adjust my budget... yet. Edited September 2, 2005 by PhishyBrewer
ebl Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 I heard that gas on Catalina Island was going for $3.96 for regular. At least that's what the Los Angeles Times was saying. My brother lives there. I should ask him. Eric
CoasterEricHP Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 In Maryland today, there were rumors that the govenor was going to shut down all gas stations and caused a huge panic. "Marylanders can ignore the rumor that the State is closing down gas stations today, or any other day. The rumor is absolutely and entirely untrue. Marylanders should continue to lead their every day lives, while being mindful to conserve energy when appropriate. We are already taking the precautionary steps to help ensure every Marylander has access to adequate supplies of gasoline. Again, continue leading your everyday lives, conserve energy when appropriate, and enjoy the holiday weekend." A Baltimore radio station apparently gave out false information saying gas stations would be forced to close at 4 p.m." off of- www.wjz.com Sorta funny.. I think Im going to go ride my bike in preparation. Eric
WalrusMan Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Recently, Hawaii passed a law limiting the price of gas. While it was a high limit, because gas is naturally higher there (shipping), California is also thinking of puting such a law through congress, but doubt it's going to go through. The gas here is over 25% taxes which is where the state gets all it's money. And money's something we dont' have much of anymore.

Token Yankee Guy Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 My mom and I found gas for 3.19 in Massachusetts. Cheaper than Connecticut.
dsngiem Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 soo.. is 2.89 actually a deal? never thought i'd say that.
USRoadTripper Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 Today the "shady" gas station near my parents was $2.99, so I figured I'd top off my tank. I put in a run of clothes and within and hour headed back out and it was $3.29! A thirty cent jump in less than an hour! The station near my place was at $3.19 tonight...everything seems to be either $3.19 or $3.29 (except the place across from work that gauges Vandy students at $3.45!). -Julie
Teddymonster Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 A girlfriend of mine called me the other day to say that her husband was shipping off to New Orleans with his platoon (right terminology?) and said that gas in Fayetteville, NC was starting at $3.89. Yikes!
ebl Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 I topped off today at $2.939 at the car wash. In my travels around Camarillo, I've seen a few stations over the $3 mark already. Eric
CoasterJunkie Posted September 6, 2005 Author Posted September 6, 2005 The local Super Walmart is still going at $2.89. Everything else is now over $3. Wonderful.
SteveC Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Okay, it is time to start crying! Today I had to pay 1.41 EUR for 1 liter gas. That is 5,32 EUR = 6,66 USD for 1 gallon normal gas. --Sören well we too in the UK have just hit $6.50 for a gallon. (converting at $1.71) We sell in litres and the price has just gone to £1 per litre - clearly this was never expected as the papers report today that most of the station signs can't take more than 2 digits for the price i.e. - no-one expected it to go over 99p to say 101p - :? :o It looks like Germany have it pretty tough as well so in a daft way that makes me feel better that we are not the only ones being hammered at the petrol station. (in our case mainly by government taxation of course) Welcome to the club everyone else! SteveC
Token Yankee Guy Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Gas prices up here in Bangor, Maine seem to be pretty stable at $3.19/gallon for regular. Back home in Connecticut we have strict pollution laws so our gas is specially refined to be more cleaner than gas in other states, so that rises our prices a bit. So for I believe a temporary measure (or elimiate the whole thing), they're going to lift the law so that we have more access to oil reserves.
Nrthwnd Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 And we just hit $1.18 CDN per liter here in Western Canada. Glad I don't have to use my car that often. Sorry the rest of you have to....
Angry_Gumball Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 This is what I found funny. The chain gas stations (Chevron, Shell, 76, etc...) kept their prices at ~$2.99-$3.01 while an independently owned gas station in my area, well actually 2 of them, jacked their prices up to $3.09 and $3.19 a gallon. Today, I noticed that they dropped it back to $2.99 because no one would even be crazy enough to pay that much for gas. Personally, I would go around and take the extra 5 minutes to pay $2.99 for a better grade fuel.
coasters 4 me Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 The gas prices in Northern Ireland has reached £1.01 per litre. I think that is $1.85.
BiCoastal Kid Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 So, after a week in the 3.25-3.40 range, we're down to 2.89. This is retarded.
Sir Clinksalot Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 I'm happy to announce that gas actually went DOWN today. I went to get my oil changed and when I got there the gas was $2.89. When I left it was $2.87. Of course, it will go down ALOT slower than it came up, but it's still something at least.
