The "Rant" Thread

I could rant on forever.

One particular thing that does get on my nerves is the boss, or rather one of the bosses at work.

When a ride is down for whatever reason and is in need of a repair, I set about the task of getting it running again. I will bet a sizeable chunk of my wages that the first thing he will come out with is the same old question "How long?"

In engineering, time takes second seat and therefore it is almost impossible to accurately predict how long a job is going to take.

What is more annoying is when customers are constantly coming up demanding why the ride isn't open. The reason it's more annoying than the boss is simply becuase there are more customers.

Rant *2

The company I work for is a pain in the arse when it comes to money. They will spend £8000 on new plants for the gardener and yet they will quibble over the price of 2 new drive belts for a broken-down ride. The belts each costing £3.50.

The story goes like this:

Ride breaks down, cause: drive belts on air compressor snap. Replacements urgently needed. No spare belts of the correct type available. A price was quoted by a local supplier within 15mins of the problem being found. The boss asked me to find a cheaper alternative than the £3.50 quoted. I ended up having to phone about 5 different engineering companies in order to compare prices. They all gave the same price. I could ahve got 2 new belts from BSL which is just down the road within 10 mins and have the ride running again within half an hour of the problem occurring.

But no, we have to buy them from a supplier in Derbyshire because they are always cheaper. In the end we got 2 new belts a week later at a cost of £3.40 each.

If this was a proper company, there would be 2 spare belts sat inside the compressor case waiting to go on.

I'll shut up now.

One thing i do not understand nor will I ever understand is society's hatred towards gays.

When I went to Universal Studios Hollywood a week ago for my younger brother's birthday, I saw a few gay couples walking around. One couple in particular was getting yelled at to "Get a room" and "You are sick and wrong!" I was so disgusted by thier behavior! They were holding hands for crying out loud! Honestly, if you take gender out of the factor, love is all the same. People fear the unknown, so get to know a gay couple and you will realize they are exactly like you and your signifigant other.

My quote of forever?

"Why is it that, as a culture, we are more comfertable seeing two men holding guns, then two men holding hands?" -Ernest Gaines

Grounded...my mom checks my cars mileage daily to see if I have driven it anywhere, I can only use my phone when I get the chance to steal it back, and I can also only use the internet whenever she isn't around. (Well, technically not, but...y'know)

Anyway,

I HATE PEOPLE...particular people that is.

Thank God Subway and Hardee's are both within walking distance from my school...comes in handy during my lunch hour.

I hate 'particular people' too.

I was going to rant about this same thing, but you beat me to it...

please get ungrounded soon.

Also, i hate homework.... yup.

Why does cancer exist!? In about half an hour i have to go put down my great dane down because his cancer is making him hostile towards people. The 6-7 monthes I have had him he has been the sweetest dog i have ever seen. He would lay with you, sleep with you, play with you, and when he was sleeping he would put his paw over his face. He didnt harm a fly. Suddenly he starts getting sick and his glands were swelling uncontrollably and now he is hostile towards strangers. Im so upset and frusterated because i am not ready to say goodbye. He is only 2 years old! Gah. This sucks. For crying out loud he wasnt even done growing yet!

Today I am not a happy camper.

http://www.ukrides.info/gwwildmine.htm

I spent the best part of the day, in howling winds and battering rain getting the above ride running.

I had to repair a pneumatic regulator for one of the brakes on the upper level.

I finally gets it working and the first car decided to go down teh drop, roll up the other side and says to itself "Ahh feck it" and rolls back down backwards, settling at the bottom after having it's picture taken about 10 times.

*heard emanating from the controls*

"BOLLOCKS!"

NOT HAPPY.

That reminds of of when Mean Streak rolled back in 2003. I was on platform and the ride E-stopped itself which it had a tendency to do. We sent the gold trian empty and it never came back. About 5 min. after we dispatched it we found it at the bottom of the first hill. Guess those darn trim brakes caught a bit too hard. I think it woulf of been funnier if it was a full train.

Careless Parents...

After school, my friend, Kelvin, had his mom drop me and my friends off at the fair for a few hours. We had a great time until the end of the night when Kelvin's mom was supposed to pick us up. For at least an hour, it was Kelvin yelling at his mom and dad to resolve their differences and get his mom down to pick us up (I was especially pissed since my Dad wanted me at home at 9 PM and Kelvin's mom had my backpack). In the end, my Dad took my friends and I home, got my stuff back, and then I had a deep thought...

Why me? I had an ideal home life with caring parents that never had fights and end up being in a crossfire over custody, etc. Meanwhile, I have several friends that are down in the dumps, either due to money problems or fighting parents. I feel sorry for them, yet I kinda feel crappy myself asking "Why am I the pampered one while other kids have more serious problems than me? Why me?"

I guess I value my life and my family more now than ever before because of this.

^^ It's the difference between mature adults and the other kind. You got lucky, Homer, as did I.

My rant...minor, but annoying nonetheless...I have several projects at work that have due dates, but we don't have the information and/or parts to get the work done. I've worked in engineering for many years, and it never seems to change regardless of which industry you're in.

Its 3:14 am, i THINk.... (stupid daylight savings time is confusing me with all my clocks automatically changing and not changing at all.) and i'm rewriting an english essay that was due earlier today...

Im getting so desperate as to quote a musical about puppets.

"Everyone's a little bit racist. (Avenue Q)"

...

How come i can't find how to cite a musical in my MLA guidlines thing?! I mean... Those things are sorces of great antismetic knowledge!

Yeah im not expecting a great grade on this. I spent more time wrting about a poor french baker barricaded in his bostro then i did the Holocaust.

Well, atleast it's funny!

When people's internet doesn't work, i'd so be nice if they actually did somthing about it instead of paying for non operational internet.

*glares at somone*

Also, i hate going to mexico. Just hate it. I have a house there and every once in awhile my family forces me down with them. I don't understand the appeal if you're not going down to drink. (and even then, i still don't understand the appeal)

I mean, its basically SoCal, but dirtier...

Okay, so I've been on this VERY high profile project at work since last September. This is now March and my final training document that I've been creating single-handedly is due on Friday.

Of course, as with any deliverable there is crunch time and small things that need to be done last minute. That's to be expected.

So today on our conference call somebody mentions something that needs to be included. And not a SMALL thing mind you, but a very HUGE thing. Basically a enitrely new lesson needs to be created. And they wait until 3-days before it's due to tell me.

Uhm, where was this 7 months ago???

I'm so pissed right now.
