Coasterkid20 Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 How was Avalanche? I've heard some pretty positive things about it too....
robbalvey Posted August 17, 2005 Author Posted August 17, 2005 Avalanche was also amazing. To be honest, it's impossible for me to say which one I liked better. They were both that good! --Robb
Coasterkid20 Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 I'm so jealous! I've never been to the dells and was supposed to go this summer but unfortunately was unable to.........
Meteornotes Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Between Avalance and Hades, you have probably the best one-two punch of coasters in the US. Yeah, OK, they're not in the same park, but they're right down the road from each other, and it's pretty easy to travel back and forth between the two parks and ride both. These are two of the best wood coasters I have ever been on. Balder is still my favorite, but these are both Top 10 rides. Like Robb, I cannot decide which one is better, as they both kick ass and both deliver totally insane rides. Hades really needs two trains, though. It never had less than an hour wait the whole time we were there...
SharkTums Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Don't forget about Cyclops! I still think that that ride could be my favorite of all 3!
benzo41190 Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Its amazing, even though Cyclops isnt THAT old it still has nice air-time. The ride is also very smooth for its age, compared to Zeus. Nice video, its alot better than my video that I took. :o
NitroJoeC Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 ^^ Dave, Hades will be getting a second train next year. It will also be adding a sixth car to each train, for a total of 24 passengers per train. Apparently it wasn't in the budget this year! Joe "yeah, Hades is the shizznit!" C.
M_Force_4_ever Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 wow nice video, totally kicks my Hades POV in the ass, especially beause of the tunnel lights. yeah Avalanche is very good too, but it is rougher then Hades. and yes Cyclops is also very good because of the one pop of airtime in the back seat. but yeah...great video, "enjoy your ride through hell"
MrMorgan Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 i honestly have to say i thought avalanche was like 1% better than hades. more fun somehow, but just barely. the only thing avalanche is missing is a tunnel. was it cold when you made the video, or early in the morning? the reason i ask is because when i was in the dells, it was the middle of a heat wave. it had been 90 degrees every day for over a week, and i remember hades being much faster than it looks in the video. we flew over the top of the far turn around in the parking lot, but in the video it seems like you just barely creep over. then, the big hill inside the lift and especially the next hill after that which goes under the cue and next to the station were just out of control fast. i felt like it was SFMM goliath G forces on the second to last turn. maybe i was just overheated, but is it possible that a coaster can change so much do to weather conditions and stuff, or is the video just misleading somehow. either way, it's a GREAT ride.
SharkTums Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Yes, all the filming was done in the morning during the first rides of the day. When we rode it at night it was even more insane, although I felt that hill out of the tunnel was very blah at all times. Kind of like that one dead spot/hill that a lot of the CCI's have.
benzo41190 Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 I mean after having about 100 some rides on Hades, you can tell that it was in the morring. Sometimes on like a 90 degree day and it just starts to rain, it goes so fast over all the hills. Thats why when go to SFGAm I to.... DeJaVu Raging Cajun Superman V2 then i do the airtime coasters because they have a chance to warm up.
Scaparri Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 Yes, all the filming was done in the morning during the first rides of the day. When we rode it at night it was even more insane, although I felt that hill out of the tunnel was very blah at all times. Kind of like that one dead spot/hill that a lot of the CCI's have. Yeah, I definately understand what you mean about the hill. The ride was awesome, but there's that hill out of the tunnel that doesn't really have much of an effect. No real airtime or anything, its just there. Still an awesome ride. And, I'm with you Elissa, Cyclops doesn't get nearly enough recognition. I had bruises on my waist from the seatbelt. What an insane ride. Avalanche was also amazing. To be honest, it's impossible for me to say which one I liked better. They were both that good! I know! It's been a month since I rode them and I still don't know how to place them. They both just come at you like a one-two punch and leave you saying "wow"! I thought Avalanche was more intense, but Hades was just crazy in it's own way.
AndCamSS Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 Ok so originally in this post I said that dont think the slow hill is slow, but like that its kinda slow...yeah I said ???? when I read it too! Andrew "glad im only 3 hrs away from these rides!" Hartman
robbalvey Posted August 18, 2005 Author Posted August 18, 2005 ^ The hill was slow at night. I don't know what you were smoking (but it must have been GREAT) but the hill was slow at night. And didn't you just say "I kinda like the slow hill" so that already tells me that you know it was slow! --Robb "We all loved the ride and everyone is saying how awesome it is, so why are you being so defensive!" Alvey
AndCamSS Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 ^Yep...I never make any sense! I guess I meant it wasnt as slow as in the morning or who knows! Andrew "tip: dont watch movies and try to post at the same time like I just did before!" Hartman
Musical Pete Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 And oh look it's a parabola, tut tut. Long live strict radii (sorry John Allen, you were great, but you introduced a bad thing into coasters)!
Dailey Enterprizes Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 ^ I get yelled at on Coastersims for not using parabolas on my wooden coasters. I can't satisfy everybody
