After watching...

What can I say? I love this park!

And cannot wait to visit it again!

(And the animation for the commercial itself - wonderful!)

Robb!

Sorry for the late reply.

I was there on the opening day. The line was 2 hours long most of the day. The whole queue area surprised me. It turned out really good. That was the first question when we walked there on the media day. Where and how they where going to do the line.

They had some minor technical problems and could only run one train for a while. Korey looked a little bit stressed..

The restraints where fully automatic aswell so they must have been working 24/7 the last days before opening.

The weather was splendid, sunny, almost hot like a summerday and alot of celebrities participated. The park was really busy, 14000 visitors and some lines where 60+ minutes.

I took my second ride for the day at 21:30. Holy crap, the ride was insane! it ran like a bat out of hell. the airtime was crazy. It was a totally different coaster compared to the media day in the snow. Twister totally rocks!

I leave for Stockholm tomorrow night - hell yeah!! Can't wait to get back to Gröna Lund, can't wait to check out Twister and the new Blå Tåget.

(And can't wait to eat some tasty Swedish meatballs with lingonberries... Mmm...)

I was very impressed with Twister. For such a small coaster it feels really fast and it keeps up the pace all the way to the brakerun. I was also very surprised by how long the ride is.

^Agreed - my thoughts exactly.

I’d been watching the ride construction photos, and I’d watched the POV video, and it still took me by surprise. My expectations were somewhat high, and they were exceeded by far.

If Twister were a stand-alone coaster on a flat slab of concrete at some random generic park, it would still be an excellent ride with a lot of pep (and some great headchoppers). But Gröna Lund has done so much more with it. Between the creative use of limited space, and the awesome interaction with the other rides, and the gorgeous waterfront setting, and the surrounding atmosphere… Twister has some real character. So much character that it just found its way onto my top ten woodie list - yeah, I liked it THAT much!

For those who still cares about this, I wanted to bump the thread and give you all an update!

This project got approved by the city, and everything was ready to be built.

But as you all might know, the locals next to the park is not the approving sort, and big protests have been made by them, and also a lot of people not living near the park, but who think the island of Djurgården (where the park is located) should not be a big theme park.

Thanks to all these protests nobody dares to do anything, and it's just an evil circle of nothappening.

The park is said to be working really hard to resolve all the issues, but there's pretty uch nothing more they can do.

Everything with noise levels and such thing has allready been taken into account, and all possibilitys have been explored.

I fore one would have loved to se this expansion become reality, but it's just not very likley in the next few years.

The Star Flyer they could still build tough, as it would be possible to make it fit into the already existing park.

I would really like the Star Flyer to be placed out onto the water, similar to the already existing chair swing, but on the other side of Insane compared to the cair swing.

Earliest build start for the proposed project would be 2013, and opening 2015, but not in this pace.

Two months since the Twister B-roll event and i was curious to see if my positive impression from that day would stand a second test. YES, Twister really deliver from the lift hill to the brake run. I'm especially fond of the first airtime hill . My colleagues liked it too.

So, opening weekend on Gröna Lund was awesome as always!!

Major bummer tough, Jetline was closed all day long. They have invested over a million dollar in the ride during the off season. The whole signal systems are swapped out for a new one, and it also looked like it has new track on the final brakes, until the station. This is wonderful news, but sadly the new system had some bugs that they were working on.

The park was pretty crowded during the day, but it really got empty during the night, which meant A LOT of rides on the coasters. It was almost like ERT, one time I got to stay on Insane for 6 rides in a row.

Kvasten was running great this day, it was not rattling at all, which I found is very rare. Probably got new wheels all over the train during the off season. Really fun rides on it.

The bobsled coaster on the other hand is not aging well, it starts to rattle quite a lot on non banked turns, hopefully this will be addressed in the future.

But the best surprise of the day was Twister. I had 7 amazing night rides in the front row of it, and it has grown huge on me. ( I didn't care to much of it last year). I was really blown a way by the ride this time. It seemed to have gotten a little bit more rough during the winter, but that is probably my brain playing tricks with me. But it seriously impressed me for the first time. Balder still plays volleyball with it tough, duh...

Since Jetline was closed all day I actually broke my old Insane record and got over 30 rides on it this day, some of them were among the best I ever had on it, thanks to some cleaver 2+1 loading.

All in all it was a great day, with perfect operations ( I got about 100 rides on different attractions in 10 hours), and good food with nice weather.

Also got a hold of some new info regarding the future expansion.

The parking lot next to the park will most likely be used for a indoor amusement park. There will be a basement which takes care of all the infrastructure handling of the park, such as waste, garage and storage facilities, and amusement park above it. They don't say anything about what the new indoor park will feature, but it will be year round operation. They claim the whole project will be something unheard of. Indoor, ride and haunted are three key words.

The expansion is pretty far in the future tough, but there will be no big coaster there, sadly.

Now I just hope they can find a good spot in the current park to fit the Star Flyer in.

Sadly no pics, as my camera is forgotten in Norway.

Good to hear they are treating the Schwarzkopf goldie with care and respect. I wish queues were as short on July, too. We are going for a "coaster mini trip" visiting Gröna Lund and Liseberg with a group of friends, 8 in total. We all have worked at Linnamäki, so we will compare EVERYthing to Linnanmäki. It will be a weeklong hooray for Balder, AtmosFear, Uppswinget, Insane, Twister and FrittFall!

I visited Gröna Lund Wednesday last week (National Day of Sweden), short lines early in the day.

When I entered the line for Insane, I was really surprised and happy to meet one of the owners of the park along with his son also waiting in line "like normal guests". OK, Sweden has a long tradition of equality and social democratic justice policies, but I was really glad to see this. No VIP-stuff, no FOTL. Me like.

Was there again yesterday. Pretty crowded, lots of school groups visiting Stockholm. Mainly teenagers. Jetline out of service all day (or at least from 3 pm until closing). No idea what is wrong this time, and they didn't say anything about when it could open again. Jetline with its huge capacity being down of course caused longer lines on other attractions, Twister, Insane and Vilda Musen all had 30-minutes waits.

If you're in Stockholm, don't visit the park today if you wan't to ride. It's gonna be packed today. If you are into rock'n'roll on the other hand, you will have a great time. Lenny Kravitz on the main stage at 8 pm...
