mikejenkins1 Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Has there been any statement of a possible date they might be done with steel construction on the ride? They seem to be moving at a great pace (have not seen any in several days but that does not mean it isnt happening).
ZeroGravity55 Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 ^ Park President Matt Eckert did an interview with the coaster crew on their podcast and he said the target date for completion on everything is February. At last check, I believe it was quoted or said somewhere that they were two weeks ahead of schedule. Â Found these photos on Thunderbird's microsite: Â Â
Diamondbacker27 Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 I'm really excited for the future of HW! I can't wait to see what else is to come, especially the future Coaster additions! Agreed! This coaster was a long time coming. It would be interesting to look at other coasters they were looking at before they decided on a final choice.
mikejenkins1 Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Have there been any aerial photos taken of this area since construction started? I would love to see how this looks from the aerial view point.
Raven Maven Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 We're on schedule for construction to end with plenty of time for testing B&M's first launched wing coaster. Opening day is April 25. Â Meanwhile, thought you'd all get a kick out of the small print on this. Â
tarheel1231 Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 So, for those who have ridden it recently, how is that head chopper on the Voyage? With TB there, it seems like it'd be insane.
Raven Maven Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Paula I LOVE your sense of humor!!! Â ^ Gee, thanks. I see you're in New York. I was born in New York. Something in the water, perhaps? Â All the photography and editing was courtesy Stephen in our department. He's pretty darn amazing.
KristenLeigh Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 I visited Holiday World every year from 1987 to 2011 and it's so awesome to see how much this park has grown! I remember riding The Raven and Legend with my cousin. Since I haven't been lately, I'm excited to ride Mammoth as Wildebeest is my favorite ride in the park! Needless to say, our cousins will be going with us next year with us as they are excited to ride Thunderbird! I've never been on a wing coaster as I went to Dollywood before Wild Eagle was there so I'm pretty thrilled to experience it!
RogueBird Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 I wish Carnival Chaos was a permanent attraction in the Halloween section. Loved it so much.
ZeroGravity55 Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 (edited) ^^^ Who isn't amazing at HW? I've always loved your guys sense of humor. If you guys can't have fun, who can? I believe Will Koch said something like that? Â Anyways, happy to hear you guys are well on schedule to have plenty of time to test Thunderbird! I read the latest Holiblog explaining how the park borrowed an idea from Europa Park on building the massive structures for their pumpkin displays. I'm really impressed with all the little details that are being put into everything the park is doing. As I've said before, HW is reaching a whole new level of awesome. Diamondbacker27 Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Is it bad I think the Voyage is the most beautiful thing in these pictures? I just love wooden coasters
Midgetman82 Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 So, for those who have ridden it recently, how is that head chopper on the Voyage? With TB there, it seems like it'd be insane. It's not that close, but it sure is hard to miss!
prozach626 Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 I'm looking forward to Thunderbird... Â but there is so much in this thread... Â Â It's gotten down right school girl level in here.
GrapesLie Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 (edited) Is this our very own Raven Maven being quoted in this article about Halloween Candy? http://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/no-trick-or-treaters-buy-halloween-candy-anyway/2014/10/28/dd6547d6-5eaa-11e4-827b-2d813561bdfd_story.html Edited October 29, 2014 by GrapesLie

This year it's Orange flavor.

ZeroGravity55 Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 I'm looking forward to Thunderbird... but there is so much in this thread...  It's free, unlimited, and I happen to like the kool-aid HW serves, so yes, I drink a lot of it.
glucky11801 Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Thunderbird's next support is up and awaiting track!
ZeroGravity55 Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 ^Trust me. I can tell. Â Well good, I'm glad you can. Just so you know, I've never said Thunderbird was going to be a great ride, and I've never even said that HW is the best park. Yes, I am totally fanboying out right now, but honestly, I'm more excited about where the park is going in terms of the future then the ride itself. Up until last year, HW's theming was average at best, so when I see them working with a company that has worked with Dollywood and Seaworld parks of the world, or borrow ideas from Europa Park, I get a little excited. Â Thunderbird's next support is up and awaiting track! Â Nice! It's also good to see the buildings coming along nicely. I wonder when the station is going to go vertical?
