maliboomer Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 Just saw this at mousetimes.com, and thought it was clever. Sure it's a bit boring, and Florida isn't as geographically intresting as California, but it shows what Disney could do... http://www.mousetimes.com/nuke/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=48
disneyfan1313 Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 meh. It's a very well made fan-film but most of the locations are kind of bland (and I'm a FL native who loves FL!) or obscure (Bok Tower gardens while great is not something that is known very well!). I applaud the effort but I think the next version of Soarin' would probably be a generic "World" or "America" to get big locations.
BarryH Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 Very interesting! Hey, there's Universal Studios Florida at the end!
Wes Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 World seems like the most obvious choice, given that the World Showcase is in EPCOT. I guess we'll see in 07 or 08.
maliboomer Posted August 13, 2005 Author Posted August 13, 2005 I'm worried they will just steal some scenes from the diffrent films around showcase and stitch them together...
phazan Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 well what was different was there were no other sound effects that they put in, and it never went over anything so close it looks like its going to hit your feet. also, why did it go backwards in the end?
socalMAN123 Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 Pretty good for somebody who doesn't have all of the resources that Disney does. It wasn't as good as DCA's though. ---Brent 8)
maliboomer Posted August 14, 2005 Author Posted August 14, 2005 well what was different was there were no other sound effects that they put in, and it never went over anything so close it looks like its going to hit your feet. also, why did it go backwards in the end? It isn't real, they just used footage from one of their tapes.
JT3000 Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 well what was different was there were no other sound effects that they put in, and it never went over anything so close it looks like its going to hit your feet. also, why did it go backwards in the end? Well, flying over a Universal park at the end of a Disney attraction would be pretty backwards. Please, hold your applause. No, seriously. I think it would be nice if they made the film about Florida. The landscape might be a little more boring than California, but I find Soarin' boring to begin with... so... yeah. Then again, WDW is much more tourist oriented than DLR, so a world movie would probably be a better idea overall and more interesting than a California film and Florida film combined.
CoasterEricHP Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 That was pretty cool. Most of the ideas are good ones, especially KSC and the space shuttle.. can't have a Soarin' Over FL without them obviously... The aircraft carrier.... ehhh... I don't think Disney should go military with a FL one. The Disney Cruise Line would be better than an aircraft carrier. However, I dont even think Epcot's version should be Florida at all. I think it'd be amazing if they did a Soarin' using all the countries in the World Showcase. It'd be a lot more expensive to film, but amazing. What was that hugeee building in the middle of nowhere? Eric
COOOOLkid Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 "Hey, daddy, why are we flying sideways and backwards and near the buildings on a hang glider? I have to try that someday!"
SharkTums Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 Bok Tower = Highest Point in Florida.... AND SQUIRRELS!!!!!!
CoasterEricHP Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Bok Tower? Wow.. definately never knew that one existed in my 2 years in FL.. 205 feet tall.. I guess Everest doesnt reach that height. Eric
Jose Eber Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 The aircraft carrier.... ehhh... I don't think Disney should go military with a FL one. The Disney Cruise Line would be better than an aircraft carrier. That comment needs to be unpacked...why are you judging the military or aircraft carriers? The attraction que has giant photos of global ecosystems. Antarctic, rainforrest etc. Perhaps that's what's next. Florida landscape? = boring for me. You'd have to focus on animals or include more people (a busy beach, a busy nude beach would be even better).
JT3000 Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Bok Tower = Highest Point in Florida.... AND SQUIRRELS!!!!!! I don't get it. :?
AllisonY2K Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Yeah many people don't know about Bok Tower. It's a long trek out in the middle of nowhere FL to see it and get accosted by squirrels who have learned it's ok to approach people. Spook Hill is nearby, which is a little known FL roadside attraction. (and there is an elementary school close to spook hill, and Casper is their mascot. I thought that was so cute!) ~Allison "One tank trips" Y2K~
ChrisFL Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 I posted on another forum my thoughts on what could be included in a Florida video (sorry I haven't watched the one linked in the first post, Im at work currently) I think it would be cool to have: Everglades The Keys Kennedy Space Center Sebring 12 Hour Orange Groves South Beach St. Augustine (Castilio De San Marcos) Daytona's Pier and Boardwalk The Disney World Resort flyover (duh). This could be a good chunk as it's much bigger than DL
CoasterEricHP Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 That comment needs to be unpacked...why are you judging the military or aircraft carriers? I'm not really judging... I would just rather see a Disney Cruise ship rather than an aircraft carrier. I like aircraft carriers, I think military technologies are cool, but I hate war. I think military vehicles are just too real life lately and should just be left out of a Disney attraction. Might as well fly behind a cruise missile. Eric
Robbie Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Is there anywhere I can find Soarin' California online?
maliboomer Posted August 17, 2005 Author Posted August 17, 2005 Mousehub and Visions Fantastic both used to have one but VF is redoing itself and MH is closed.
Jose Eber Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Might as well fly behind a cruise missile. Eric That was actually really funny. Reminds me of that Superman I or II scene with Lex Luthor...ANYWAY. I don't know, when the war started, many audience members started cheering during the military scene at Soarin. Now though, when I was at Epcot, not so much. Although I'm not a fan of war myself, I realize there is a time for war and a time for peace. The unfortunate (for you) reality is, in San Diego, there is a very, very large military presence that you can't avoid. However, I'm not too aware of a city here in Florida that has an equally large presence of the military, so, I think reality, an aircraft carrier scene wouldn't be appropriate, but in fact a cruise-liner (without a bloodied deck outside of a honeymooner's cabin) would be more appropriate. I think the whole Florida thing will be scrapped though. It just doesn't tie in with the Que (which is awesome btw, way -- love lining up in AC!)
max86 Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 sorry for my english,but....there are videos of this new attraction?? i've seen a "building" video which but was too short...there was an immagineer on the attraction sistem.. now if there is i search for a video on ride..thanks at all!!!
