strz Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 You should absolutely make the trip. Fury is just that good and Afterburn is exceptional. Crowds during the week are extremely light but they get very busy on Saturdays. It's like the difference between Dorney and Great Adventure. No matter what, ride Nighthawk first unless you get Fastlane. Appreciate it! I'll be in Florida come Monday, so Sunday is the only "window of opportunity" to get to the park......wish me luck convincing "the boss" we need to go there!
coasterbill Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Sunday's aren't that bad. Saturday's are the problem. Ride Nighthawk first and if the family wants to ride Ricochet do that early but aside from that you'll be fine.
Genx24 Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Seems with the much longer operating season, the powers that be at the park are more apt to close the park on bad weather days like last Sunday and potentially today. My guess is that they still don't have adequate staffing.
boldikus Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Not to mention its a huge waste of money to staff rides and retail if 100 cars show up. Why bother opening at all? I don't blame the park at all. They just had a REALLY crappy week attendance wise for that 2nd spring break week last week, it rained almost all week, kudos they mostly stayed open but other than that one decent day, the place was a ghost town all week.
boldikus Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Well I am apparently not someone you should trust as a psychic, as it seems the park is open today. How long is anyones' guess.
Physical Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Just got home from the park. Today was /the/ day to go. They had a few buses of (I assume) high school students, probably just enough group sale tickets to warrant keeping the park open. There were more buses in the parking lot than cars. Everything was a walk on, pretty much all day. Nitro had the longest wait, at a whopping 15 minutes, with single train ops. (They added the 2nd train later in the day though and completely killed the wait) Ka and Zumanjaro didn't open until around 4PM, when the rain stopped. Once the buses started clearing out around 5, the park died completely. We managed to get 5 (I think, I lost count) re-rides on Toro during this time. The park ended up closing at 7 instead of 8, but we were there since 11, and had /more/ than enough time to hit everything worth hitting, and re-riding the best of the group. Ka was running with extra boost once it did open, which is understandable given the rain and having cold trains. Gotta say, as much as I like that "Are we going to roll back?" feeling you usually get with normal boost, I very much enjoyed the (noticeably) speedier ride provided with the extra boost. Seemed to smooth out the launch a bit in rows other than the first. Plus the airtime we were getting over the top hat was just nuts. My shoulders hurt from being flung into the restraints. Ride List: El Toro: 9 Kingda Ka: 5 Nitro: 3 Skyway: 2 Bizarro: 2 Twister: 1 Batman: 1 Green Lantern: 1 Superman: 1 Skull Mountain: 1
strz Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 ^^^^^^^^^sweet! Glad to hear you "braved" out the weather and had an epic (no crowd) day!
KingRCT3 Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 They added new magnetic fins on the lift! First the colors, and now that, I mean, it can't be a coincidence, can it? I'm so thrilled it's actually happening!
coasterbill Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Lol I keep forgetting this thing exists even though it's at my home park.
Genx24 Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 ^ Can't blame you. There's been radio silence about this ride since the testing POV, which I find odd because it's slated to open in a couple of weeks.

I'm so thrilled it's actually happening! I wonder if it's to make the ride flip more, I noticed the one in Texas only averages abt 2-3 flips per cycle. Even though you're supposed get at least 6
coasterbill Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 ^ Can't blame you. There's been radio silence about this ride since the testing POV, which I find odd because it's slated to open in a couple of weeks. Really if this thing is even mediocre I'll be thrilled. Green Lantern at Magic Mountain was just so, so, so bad. Like so bad. Like god damn... I'm trying to be optimistic because it's a different ride type and a different manufacturer but that thing made me really nervous about this ride. I also despise X2 which is kind of similar in it's own right.
Genx24 Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 ^ We're at opposite ends of the spectrum then. I enjoyed GL at Magic Mountain far more then I ever expected to. If Joker rides similarly I'll be pleased.

I know this is a roller coaster, but IMO- that's stretching things, to some degree......regardless, I hope the GP eats it up, and SFGA does well with it- but "It's not my bag baby!" And yeah- I noticed the same thing......the ride is up and running, and it's a big yawn on this board!!! Ok- back to reading the lunatic's posts about Lighting Rod not ever opening!!!!
DILinator Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Green Lantern at Magic Mountain was just so, so, so bad. Like so bad.
michaellynn4 Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Hahaha Boldikus beat me. Anyone else thinking of taking advantage of this ride time?
boldikus Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 I would like to go to the park this weekend but no idea how I'd get there. Was going to go with friends who were gonna drive us up but they bailed due to conflicting commitments. Anyone going and wanna pick me up/drop me off in Trenton? LOL
Genx24 Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 I'll probably be there Sunday. Wanted to go Saturday for the ERT but it just wasn't in the cards.
Satans Hockey Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 How long/crowded normally is the ert? Trying to figure out if it's worth going for it.
boldikus Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Thats gonna depend on weather, how crowded the park is, and how well they promote the ERT throughout the park. Ive always found the early morning ERTs better than the late night ones cause people are lazy asses in the morning. Early bird gets the worm!
michaellynn4 Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 Tried to stop by late this evening for the ERT, but the wristbands were only handed out from 12-3. Didn't really matter, lines for the hour I was there were non-existent so I got my Nitro fill in, anyway. I saw a couple of these around the park, also. Are these new, or have I just missed them this whole time? I think they're a great addition.
Satans Hockey Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 I haven't been to the park in a few weeks but I don't remember seeing those anywhere this year.
