ginzo
^Except Russia is such a bad sport they probably won't let any Americans in by then!!! Seriously, is anyone following the Men's Ice Skating controversy!?! Crazy stuff!! The Russian skater called the American Gold Medalist a 'woman' since he didn't do any quad jumps! And the president of Russia told the Russian skater that he really did win the gold and the Russians are behind him. So childish!!!! I think they're also smarting from having lost pair figure skating for the first time in like 50 years to the Chinese. But it wasn't really a close match with the Chinese. So, the Russians couldn't bitch about that. Also, pairs can't do quads as women can't do them right now, which means if a man did a quad the pair would only get credit for a triple. Jew
"DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES?!?!?!?" Andrew "USA USA USA!" Iorio Considering team USA is made up entirely of NHL players, it's a stretch to compare this win in any, way, shape, or form to the "miracle on ice." Top Thrill Dragster
^No, but team USA isn't packed to the brim with super star NHL players like Canada is. I just found this from when the USA beat Canada in the Juniors http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOeGQmvqWmo

Though I agree its not like the 1980 win, I'd say its still a bit of a david vs goliath. How many players did you know on the US team? I'm not a huge hockey fan, so I only knew 3 of them, yet I knew half the Canadian team... Is it possible for the US to play Canada in the finals? I still want the US to deny them gold on their home turf!!

Jew
^^I personally knew most of the team since I follow hockey. Granted there aren't as many stars as team Canada, but the team USA roster is solid from top to bottom. Lots of young talent. In fact, I believe Canada and the USA are the only teams that have rosters made up entirely of NHL players.
Sir Clinksalot
^ That is correct Joey. Most other teams have "some", but USA/Canada are the only ones that are ALL NHL players. That said though, the USA team is VERY young and were not expected to win this game. It was an "unlikely" win, but "miracle" ... not so much. Now the tournament REALLY begins. Single elimination - One and Done. Should be exciting. Canada now has to play an extra game, but shouldn't have any problems with Germany. As for if the USA can play Canada for gold, yes, yes they can. Here is the bracket. http://www.vancouver2010.com/olympic-hockey/schedule-and-results/men_ihm400000vm_playoff-dE.html Canada does have to get through Russia first. Most people thought that was going to be the Gold Medal game, Crosby vs. Ovechkin, etc. But either way it will be a great game on Wednesday (assuming Canada get's through Germany). SharkTums
So Bode Miller always annoyed me with his attitude, but now Apollo Ohno is getting to me too. I don't know if it's his bad hair, terrible goatie, annoying bandana or that "I'm trying to be so polite and modest" that just seems really fake. I'll be glad when they both retire! ginzo
^At least he hasn't spit on the ice like the speed skaters or had a total emotional meltdown like Lindsey Vonn. What we need is a DVR smart enough to show you only the actual competitions. No interviews, medal ceremonies, polar bears, etc.

D. All of the above. I need someone to lay odds on when he'll be busted hitting the bong with Michael Phelps. Seriously, I'll never understand America's fascination with athletes who show up for two weeks every four years or so. Are they cool to watch? Sure. Is their backstory, or basically anything they have to say important? No. Just compete and shut up. I get so tired of the fluff. Also, I'm still pulling for Canada in hockey. Losing to the US was not as big a loss as some think. Any NHL team can beat any other NHL team on any given night. I look for Team Canada to play tougher defense now. I think that goes for all athletes and entertainers in general. But we're some gossipy mofos. So, knowing way too much about entertainers' personal lives will continue to be big business. I'm thinking there will be many girls who will be very sad and many boys who will be very happy. ^At least he hasn't spit on the ice like the speed skaters or had a total emotional meltdown like Lindsey Vonn. Sir Clinksalot
Apparently the USA vs. Switzerland Hockey Game tomorrow is being tape delayed on the West Coast so they can show it at 3:00 on NBC on the East Coast. Although now I'm hearing it may be live on USA at noon. If it's not live ... EPIC FAIL!!! And the TV Schedule on NBC doesn't give me much hope. http://www.nbcolympics.com/tv-listings/zone=PT/day=13/index.html
