DORNEY PARK ANNOUNCES VORTEX

In 2016, Dorney Park will open the tallest, fastest, and longest TOGO standup coaster on the planet! Brave the sensation of an 85 foot drop at a stomach-churning 52 degrees straight down, into a forceful vertical loop. But the terror has only started. Embrace a 50 foot tall airtime hill, going directly into an intense double helix. But it's not over yet! Fly through a total of four bunny hills, providing exhilarating pops of airtime, with a disorienting banked turn in between. Riders will be sucked into another dimension of thrills at speeds up to 50 MPH, all standing up! The coaster will have an eye-opening silver track color with navy blue supports!

Vortex! Be amazed by a new kind of thrill!

Opening April 2016

(P.S. The coaster is really Shockwave from Kings Dominion with a different track color.)

I would like to see Shockwave at Dorney Park. They could bring back Laser. The paint scheme is close enough. It's even a used roller coaster.

I know this is just a joke at the moment, but if they sold off SkyRider from CW to a park outside the US, why would you think they would decide to just move Shockwave to a different park in the chain? Personally I think that thing belongs in a scrap heap, but that is just me.

I do not have good experiences with stand-up roller coasters. I've ridden Green Lantern at Great Adventure twice, and that's two times too many. They are just painful pieces of crap.

The only rides that really get sizable lines on the dry side of the park are the Wild Mouse, Thunder Canyon, and Whitewater Landing. The other rides are usually pretty much walk-ons until the people start coming over from the wet side of the park.

Any line advice

A line? What's that? Here in the Dorney thread we're unfamiliar with this term.

I want to know how many of my posts are me liking yours.

And as far as the relocated rides go, I won't complain. The 2 most forceful and intense rides in the park are probably Posessed and Demon Drop, and if being the "relocation capital" of the chain means we got Demon Drop then it's okay with me.

A friend and I were just talking about how much we missed Demon Drop at CP, and that we'd take it back there any day. So yeah, I agree you got a hidden treasure with that "used" coaster! (Stinger, probably not so much, but oh well...)

Heard some things around dorney, the building going up behind Demon Drop is going to be CornStalkers and BloodShed, being moved from waterpark and being combined into one. They are doing this to open up more space for boo blast. Heard they maybe adding a hey ride. And rumor is that once Dinosaurs Alive is removed from the park, a coaster will more likely be added down there. So far nothing about what will be new for next year.

Dorney in the past usually gets a coaster every 3 to 4 years and in 2016 that would be 4 years since Stinger so I am a little surprised the rumors of a NEW coaster didn't come true. In 2017, I saw KD and VF getting the big investments, but now is it possible for Dorney to get in the mix since the Dinosaur Alive's contract ends at the end of 2016.

There is so much space back in there to where they could make a new lower midway down there. Which would bring a lot more foot traffic down there.

^^ A lot of people don't realize how much room is actually back behind the current lower midway, you could easily put in a major new coaster plus restaurants and a few flats without removing anything.

Shockwave.

slap some paint on that thing and "Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom's First Stand Up Roller Coaster!"

there is never a lot of foot traffic down in the lower midway now with stinger always being closed and possessed running off and on. And with one food stand and a ritas there is not much down there. Opening it up down there would be a wonderful idea for the park.

I think a Disko "coaster" would fit really well next to Cedar Creek Flyers where there is a skinny and narrow grassy area. It probably wouldn't happen next year since they just installed Cedar Creek Flyers this year which is also a family attraction.

I think it would fit better on the opposite side of the midway from Cedar Creek Flyers, and we should call it Las...

Sorry, I'll stop. lol no I won't.

A new coaster for Dorney? Sure it would be great for the park, especially down in the lower midway area. It would open up so much to add more rides and restaurants....But i'll believe it when I see it.

^^ Since Cedar Fair hates Dorney that is probably the best possibility if we want to get a coaster because of how cheap they are. Also GCI is located just about 2 hours away from Dorney in Sunbury, PA which would be very convenient to transport the material to the park (that might be why Hershey has two of them). Also a family coaster, like a Mack spinning coaster would fit the budget and is well-needed.
