DenDen Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 ^ do you have a printscreen of what you see and what's causing the need for a lot of scrolling?Could you also let me know which screen resolution you're using? Thanks in advance Netbooks are 1024x600. Here's a screen cap from my netbook. You have to scroll past this with EVERY screen except when you're posting. The old version allowed you to turn off the calendar.
themeparkman25 Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 Who are the bots? Like the google, msn and yahoo bots? And why do they view forums?
robbalvey Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 They have always viewed forums on the old version but now we are just able to see them with the new forum since they usually all come from a similar IP address and this version of the forum automatically creates an account for them. The search engine bots spider the site so that all of our updates end up on Google, Yahoo, etc.
manta Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 I thought I'd let you know a problem I encountered signing up, well not really signing up, but with my account settings, in my birthday, which is January 27th, I hit January, but it only goes to 12 for me. Also, before I signed up I was a lurker, and saw that this one accounts avatar went over the line and into the message, I will try to see if I could track it down again, but I cant make any promises. - John "Hope I helped"
odene497 Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 I didn't really follow along much with the whole process of changing over to the new system, and when I'd first looked at it I was a bit put off, but I tend to not like change for a lot of things. But it's grown on me quite a bit, and think overall it looks good and was well done.
Homeboy23 Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Just ran into this one right now but I love the fact that you have to review your post before you submit it if another person posts at the same time. No more having to edit your post when you post the same thing at the same time.
spacemtfan Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 I love the new look! It's definitely a nice change of scenery. Although, I have one problem with it. For some reason, I can't seem to change the color and size of my signature. I tried to highlight the entire thing and change it, but when I previewed it, nothing happened. But the tags are still there. Other than that, I'm still getting used to the new placement of everything, but otherwise, it looks great!
deathbydinn Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 One problem I'm having is with the chat. Sometimes when it shows users online and I open it, it will either not load any text or if the text does load it closes after a few seconds. I also noticied that when you in the thread about Coaster Footage being retired, the clips Robb posted are no longer video, just text. It says the link with youtube on both sides.
ebl Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Something else I noticed. Sometimes I go to a member's profile to see what their first name is so I can address them that way. The profiles no longer show the user's first name---unless I'm missing a setting or link... Eric
themeparkman25 Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 ^No Sir, I do not have first name basis possibility on mine either. And I too sometimes look at profiles to get first names for conversations or whatever. Another thing that I cannot seem to find, is where to click so that I can edit my profile, signature, etc. Is this just me?
Hhappy Posted February 8, 2010 Author Posted February 8, 2010 Another thing that I cannot seem to find, is where to click so that I can edit my profile, signature, etc. Is this just me? try the User Control Panel. It should be
Pufferfish Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Something weird just popped up for me. For some reason that I do not know, this forum leaves empty pages in topics. I have a picture to show you this. Blank page with no posts.
netdvn Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Ever since the upgrade, the HTML tags in my signature have been acting all funny... Every time I try to modify my sig, the hyperlinks I've embedded become part of the text itself.
robbalvey Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 ^ In your User Control Panel under signature make sure that "Enable BBCODE is checked." --Robb

Every time I try to modify my sig, the hyperlinks I've embedded become part of the text itself. Fixed your signature for you. Next time please make sure the code is used correctly.. in your case the opening and ending quotes [url] and [/url] were not used correctly and constant...
prototech Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 <div class="panel"> <<div class="inner"><span class="corners-top"><span></span></span> There seems to be an extra "<" in the send password page, which is causing the following:
Hhappy Posted February 8, 2010 Author Posted February 8, 2010 ^ thanks for spotting that. It should be fixed
traincrossin Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 I like the new forums, but as people have said before it will take some getting used to. Someone mentioned this before, but is there any way to hide the calender? I can't put my finger on it but it stands out more than it used to. Here are some random things i've noticed on the new forums. As you can see, the username runs over onto the forum. Here's a nitpicky thing, but the Online banner is covering up part of their title. Not a big deal.
robbalvey Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 ^ The username running into the forum is something we'll have to figure out. The online banner we've decided to keep as is right now since it only affects a small percentage of people at a time. If there's a solution that comes up later of for it, we'll do it, but otherwise it's kind of low on the priority list. As for hiding the calendar, I'm not sure if it's going to be an option on this version of the forum, but we'll keep looking. --Robb
themeparkologist Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Sometimes...as in occasionally...The online banner is in a white box that covers up some of an avatar and title/name. I'll try to track it down for you.
robbalvey Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 ^ That should only happen with IE6 and below. Basically phpbb3 does not officially support any IE versions lower than 7. --Robb
JEAPUgrad Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Not sure if this is an issue with my browser or the upgrade, however while going page to page using the page numbers instead of the "next" url, when I click on the number, I'm being re-directed to the TPR main page. Being more specific, when I went from page 74 to page 75 and 75 to 76 on the SFKK page, this happened. On the other forum sites I frequent, I'm not having this issue.

Might make it a little easier to spot the cause of this.. Thanks in advance.
