Before, anybody entering the park could also enter the campground and vice versa. For years if you were in the campground you didnt even have to show tickets to enter the park. With this new setup the can also sell campsites without park tickets.

I hate it 1
Sk610 Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 Looks like they are at least doing the first main turnaround at the very least. I hope it's not just that turn but a few other rough spots too

Sk610 Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 Sorry, it's hard to tell. I just saw the turn. Hopefully they show updates soon or at least say what parts are getting the new track 1
Shavethewhales2 Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 This is excellent. I've never made it to Darien, but the Predator always looked like an excellent layout. This is exactly what I wanted to happen to these vintage wooden coasters so we can keep enjoying them instead of every ride being RMC'd.
Sk610 Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 ^agreed 100%. A good classic wooden coaster is a thing of beauty. Companies like GCI were making these wooden coasters with highly banked twisting drops and lateral movements. The just didn't hold up. Give me The Comet at Great Escape or Blue Streak at CP over those any day
ricklap77 Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 It's a good thing Predator is getting this kind of track. I mean great! It was so insanely rough to the point that it was not enjoyable at all.
Haymaker Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 Only two rides on the website that say this. Also, Heave-Ho and Big Kahuna are no longer listed. 1
Sk610 Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 Apparently Big Kahuna's conveyor belt broke and fried the motor, so either that needs to be replaced or the entire slide needs to go. Not sure what's up with Heave Ho, but it's such a small footprint that you couldn't put much in that spot. The Closed for the season post is very weird considering the park doesn't open until May 1
anonymouscactus Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 The completely removed rides from the site make sense and I wouldn't expect them to reopen anytime soon, but I wouldn't put too much thought into the "closed for the season" ones...

ricklap77 Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 Too bad. I remember back when it was just Darien Lake, not Six Flags, you would get admission with your camping plan. The park and campground were connected together with no gate. And it was very affordable. Good ol days!
Haymaker Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 Hard to tell how much was done, but could be a significant amount. Posted by SFDL socials. 3
Sk610 Posted May 12, 2023 Posted May 12, 2023 I have a feeling it's just that first turnaround. If you take a look, there is new wood to the left of the track. I don't see it anywhere else in that picture 1
pryonisys Posted May 12, 2023 Posted May 12, 2023 It would be great if they did a lot of the ride, but I'm really just expecting that turn around... maybe I'll get back up there in 2024 to check it out again, I did like the improvement that it had last year. Small steps in the right direction, but I would love them to take a larger leap for the park (at some point)
Sk610 Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 Has anyone been to the park this year yet? Wondering if any of the small upgrades I keep hearing about at other SF parks happened at DL?
anonymouscactus Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 Went on Memorial Day just to process my pass. I don't know if it came from the Mind Eraser lake or what, but walking through the parking lot smelled like literal poop. Another upgrade is that even though you reserve diamond parking, there is no attendant and they just let anyone park there, so it was obviously full despite a reservation. Predator was legitimately fun, even in the back seat. Ride of Steel was running well. Those are the only two rides I went on so I can't report on anything past the custard stand, lol. Custard was clearly not Perry's as advertised as I'm an expert in custard

anonymouscactus Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 I did see the Tillamook this year at the regular ice cream scoop shop. There are big signs of Perry's ice cream at the custard stand. I've had Perry's custard many places before, it's also listed on their website.
