Actually Stupid Six Flags for using the same name on every coaster.

Could this the one of the greatest coaster replacements ever? Goliath for Iron Wolf is as good a trade as El Toro for Viper was!

Goliath is #9 on the World's coolest new tourist attractions! However, it is stated in the article the supports are steel. Make sure you scroll down for some awesome GP comments including . . .

We've had Goliath at Magic Mountain for years. This is nothing new.

UGH! Stupid GP! Why do they have to ruin everything?

I do agree that they should come up with more coaster names, but I also think the GP should know the difference between a steel coaster and a wood one.

It just occurred to me how large Goliath is going to be and how small that airtime hill is!

It also looks like they're getting the remaining footers ready of the twist and shout/base of the overbank turn for the next bents to go up.

Update: Next bent is now in place.

From an earlier post, someone posted about park chains using the same name for different coasters, and this will be the third coaster to be called Goliath. There is a giant-sized coaster in Six Flags over Georgia and the old Deja Vu from Six Flags Magic Mountain moved to Six Flags New England that are also named "Goliath".

It's a pity that they didn't go with "The Great American Scream Machine".

Don't forget the original Goliath at Magic Mountain. Also, didn't Fiesta Texas name their Batman clone Goilath?

Yes, there's a Goliath at SFMM, SFOG, SFFT, SFNE, and now SFGAm. I think I got them all.

^Arrgh!!!! You're right. I forgot about those other Goliaths. There are some many coasters sharing the same name, it can become so confusing.

This is worse than riders confusing the rocking boat ride with one that goes upside down. They would see a rocking ship and be afraid to ride it because they think it will go upside down. As for me, I'll ride anything, but I can tell whether or not this ride is the type that will rock back and forth, or will go upside down. First, look at the restraints : rocking boats will only have lap bars, but upside down ships will have both lap and shoulder restraints. Then looks to see if the boat has a counterweight above it; upside down boats will have one, but rocking ships will not. And if you still cannot decide, then just stand back and watch the ride in action. Easy as Pie.

As for me, I can tell my rocking ship from my upside down ship much better than trying to remember all the Goliaths that Six Flags have. In other words, I should have checked the roller coaster data base.

La Ronde (which is owned by six flags) as well.

The Looping Starship we used to have at SFoG only had lapbars & went upside-down. Appropriately enough, it was removed to make way for our Goliath.

I think Six Flags also opened up a Goliath in Holland back when they owned that park over a decade ago. Obviously they no longer own that park. Also, more bents are up for the twist and shout close to where the train will exit out of the tunnel.

Snow has been coming down hard today...

I wonder why construction wasn't going as fast such as in late 2013!

Are you confusing that Starship with Mind Bender or Dare Devil Dive? I've never seen a looping starship with just a lap restraints. (Now I'm thinking of the old Ring Of Fire carnival rides. Good memories!)
