Fuji-Q Highland Haunted Hospital

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I'm new to posting but have been reading this site for a while and I know that here I can find people who really know alot about parks.

So my friends family invited me and a few friends out to visit them in Japan for a few weeks over the summer. Sometime during that time we are going to Fuji-Q, even though I know the operations suck, I want to go mainly because of the Haunted Hospital.

So is it really what everyone says, that's it absolutely terrifying. I can't find reviews anywhere and was hoping I could find some here.

Thanks.

Very few of us have ever been in it because none of us are into haunted attractions that much to have waited the 4 hour posted queue outside of the building.

If you're into haunt attractions, I hear it's amazing...I guess...but I can't see ANYTHING being worth a 4 hour wait.

^ If it's crowded you might only get on one

It's one of those walkthroughs I really want to do, when we visited the park last year they closed down the whole queue since it was completely full...

I just guess that you have to go there on one of those days when the park is nearly empty...

But Fuji-Q has killer lines (in a bad way) and I wouldn't go in the house. I rather go on like 2 coasters...

That was the problem, really. Every trip we've had to the park we were with people who hadn't been on any of the coasters. And after queing 6 to 7 hours to only get on 3 or so coasters the last thing you want to do is wait in ANOTHER 4 hour long line for something that's not a coaster.

Now, if we ever hit the park on one of these mythical "empty" days or go on a day where we don't care about the coasters and hit the hospital first, we may end up doing it.

When I went to the park in 2005 a few from our group did the walk through. It takes about 45 min with the preshow. They said it was good but not as spectacular as it is made out to be. I think the people who did the Haunted Hospital did not make it on all the coasters. If you Google it you can find a review one of the guys did on another site. If I had to go back to Fuji Q I wouldn't wait more then a few minutes for it.

One thing i found out late in the day at Fuji Q.

It is fine to have one person queue & then have friends cut in line to meet up as long as you have 1 person in line.

It happened so often at Eejanaika that we asked an attendant who informed us that it was correct. Though i didn't see hardly any people leave the queue once they entered, maybe that was also a rule or Japanese protocol?

Maybe someone will fit the Haunted Hospital in this way one day, though 1 person will still have to queue for entire 4 hours!

If you're interested in this attraction... There's a japanese movie based on it. Directed by Takashi Shimizu (Ju-On Director).

I believe most parts are shot inside that attraction. (It is said to be shot during park off hours.)

It's called The Shock Labyrinth 3-D..

Sorry if it's the wrong attraction but this one is a haunted attraction in Fuji-Q and i'm not sure if it's the same one you're talking about and I assumed one park should has only one famous haunted house.

  • 1 year later...

Wanted to bring up an old thread, since on the 2011 TPR Japan Tour we got extremely lucky at Fuji-Q and quite a few people experienced Haunted Hospital.

It is an upcharge attraction where about 20-30 patients are led into the hospital at a time. The experience starts with everyone sitting on wooden benches in complete darkness watching a movie where it appears that occupants are being tortured and tormented.

Then the 30 people pair up in groups of two and are led into the hospital two at a time with 2-3 minute intervals between groups. During the first half of the hospital tour each pair is given one flashlight to help you navigate, then midway through you have to surrender the flashlight.

The hospital is not overloaded with scare actors, and that lack of scare actors really keeps you on edge throughout as you never know when the scares will occur. Scare actors came at us about 12 times. The theming is excellently done, you can really believe you are in an abandonded hospital. Also, with each group of two being so spread out any scares that do occur are not telegraphed.

If anyone has ever done the early entry into the Busch Gardens Tampa houses with FrightFeast, is it quite similar in that you are in a small group by yourself and not in a conga line.

Also in 2011, Fuji-Q started selling Fast Pass for individual attractions for the first time.

I too finally go to experience the Haunted Hospital/Labyrnth of Fear recently as well as a ton of coaster riding thanks to the fast pass system. I even gave the water ride Nagashimasuka a go.

Not many passes seem to be sold each day, but they are so worth the cost, as i never had more than a 5 minute wait.

I also was part of the lucky group on the 2011 Japan trip that got to do the haunted hospital.

It was cool, although probably not something I would wait a long time for. I didn't find it to be the pinnacle of haunted houses.

The real problem I had with it was that the time between groups ended up being not enough, and my group caught up to the people in front of us. We backed off, hoping to create seperation, which then just caused us to bunch up with the rest of our TPR group. When we ended up in our bigger group, it sort of numbed a lot of the creepiness. I think it would have been quite a bit better had we been able to complete the whole walk through in our group of 2-3.

I've always been intrigued by the Haunted Hospital mainly because I could never find a description of the walkthrough or knew anyone who had been through it. It does sound like the whole experience is dependent on how small your group is. I'd probably really enjoy it!

Any problems understanding what is going on for the non-japanese speakers? I have done a few walk throughs and was clueless as what to do.

Although you couldn't understand the dialogue in pre-show movie, you got the vibe that the hospital is an evil place. Not sure what caused the evil (aliens/possession/ghosts/zombies/crazy people) but it didn't really matter.

There was no dialogue to follow (a la "Room with Living Doll"s at Joypolis) while you walked through the hospital you just knew it was a haunted hospital and that was suffice for me. I think the only confusion was when they took the flashlight away, I still don't recall how that happened exactly. They were one or two time where I was confused which way to go in a hallway, but I think there were arrows drawn in "blood" on the wall to give direction, again can't remember.

^ As I remember there was a "hospital worker" sitting at a desk with a basket on it that you put the torch into.

I actually really liked the use of the torch, it gave the actors a heads up as to where you were in the first half. Far from making you feel secure, it made you more of a target!

The attraction was good, but it had been so horrendous overhyped (possibly by people who wanted to say they'd done the "best in the world" knowing that few others would be able to verify!) that it could never fully deliver. I'm glad I did it but I found the room of the living dolls an order of magnitude better. That's how to do a haunt attraction!

^especially with us because we had a faulty flashlight

I really liked this haunt, the long-ish corridors with not much happening. There was a really good atmosphere, senses on high alert. even without sounds, which made it more scary I think.
