FROM OUR ORIGINAL POST:

The Bebes will be embarking on their second Theme Park Tour soon, and could really use the help of other TPR members.

We are hoping to get some advice about the parks (routes, eateries, hidden gems, opinions, etc.) as well as the cities that they are in (other landmarks, eateries, etc.)

We already have Six Flags, Cedar Fair & Busch Properties season passes.

We could use advice on acquiring discounts for Kennywood, Knoebel's, & Hershey.

We will be posting Super Duper trip reports right here in this thread as the trip unfolds!

Please help us make the best of our trip! Thanks!

Just looking at your trip real quick, I think the highlight is going to be seeing Big Mike lol

Actually, we meet up at Dorney on Friday, and after that you have a sightseeing day, an open day, Great Adventure, and then another sight seeing day.

Since you are up as far north as you are going to go in Dorney, you "could" conceivably go right down the whole Jersey coast and collect everything, including Moreys Pier and Cape May NJ unless you have them already. They both have 6 coasters each.

You are also skimming right around Dutch Wonderland too.

Thats just the credit whore in me speaking, sightseeing time is cool too, especially Washington DC.

Peace, Big Mike

Sounds like a great trip! You'll have a lot of fun and get some awesome rides in!

May 25 (Memorial day) - Fly in to Pittsburgh 6pm (we are considering a

mad dash to Waldameer for Ravine Flyer 2;

they close at 10pm)

If at all possible, I would definitely recommend this, the RF II is soooo good. You might even see Trevor in the Waldameer show!

D'oh!

I'll be heading up to Ohio to Cedar Point and King's island the weekend you are going to Dorney and Six Flags but WOW what a lot of parks to go to in such a short amount of time, I'm jealous. Mostly because at the moment not sure if I could afford such a trip but it sounds like fun! Have fun at Dorney with Big Mike! Though it's hard to not have fun with Big Mike around!

BIG MIKE & ANYONE ELSE:

You are also skimming right around Dutch Wonderland too.

If we wanted to hit Dutch Wonderland we would have to end our day at Hersheypark around 3pm or 4pm (closes at 8pm) in order to get to Dutch Wonderland for 1-2hrs before they close at 6pm.

We pose this question: In your opinion, is 1-2hrs at DUTCH WONDERLAND worth losing 4-5hrs at Hersheypark AND costing an additional $50?

We have never been to either Hershypark OR Dutch Wonderland.

If at all possible, I would definitely recommend (trying to make it to Waldameer for an hour or less), the RF II is soooo good.

Does Waldameer ever stop running their rides or close earlier than their posted closing time???

We'd hate to drive 2+ hours from Pittsburgh to arrive at Waldameer at 9:30pm and find that they stopped running RFII or closed for the night. Then drive 2+ hours back to Pittsburgh.

We were lucky enough to ride the Voyage in 2006 and have been anticipating another Gravity Group creation!

If you have a yen for a good pulled-pork BBQ sandwich while you're in Williamsburg, check out Pierce's Pitt on East Rochambeau (very near Great Wolf Lodge) and order "JC's Special." If you want any other local restaurant recommendations, let me know.

^ Thanks! That sounds delicious! We would like all the suggestions you've got, we not only love roller coasters, we love new and yummy food places!

We already have plans for Primanti Bros in PIT, Denny's Beer Barrel Pub on our way to Knoebels, Cheese Steaks in Philly, Crabcakes in Baltimore, and Doumar's in Norfolk. So, any food suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Absolutely not. Spend the day at Hershey and have an awesome time. DW is barely worth it for a credit run.

As you have never been to Hersheypark the answer is NO. It sounds like the purpose of your trip is to visit as many of the larger East Coast Parks as possible in a relaxed manner. Dutch Wonderland is a side trip that should only be exercised by credit whores.

And take cfc's suggestion Pierce's Pitt is the real deal in Williamsburg. Great food and reasonably priced.

If you are getting crabcakes in Baltimore, I would highly suggest G&M Restaurant: http://www.gandmrestaurant.com/

I think they are the best crabcakes and possibly the best food I've ever had. It is not overly expensive either.

Scored a pair of HersheyPark tix on ebay for $60.

^Big Mike, We are so jeaous that you'll be in Holiday World just days before our outing!!!

P.S. - If anyone else would like to hang out with The Bebes on our tour, just let us know.

The only park we have been to before is Kennywood (our starting point for Theme Park Tour 2006: The O.G.). So, again, if anyone can give us advice on the parks (ie: plan of attack / hidden gems) that would be great.

Thx!

^Personally, I found Tony Luke's to be bland.

Not many hidden gems at most of those parks outside of Kennywood and Knoebels.

Jenkinson's has a FunHouse about 100 yards from the rides park. To me is was worth the $5.

Casino Pier - don't miss Stilwalk Manor. Also keep in mind Funtown Pier is only a 1/2 mile walk south along the boardwalk.

I'd skip Steel Pier and go to the parks in Ocean City. Gillian's Wonderland has a nice little L and T Systems coaster.

Knoebels - of course pay the $1.20 upcharge for the Haunted House.

Also, many people think the indoor ride is a Gravitron. The Cosmotron is an indoor Himilaya type ride with music and light effects..

I am confused by Knoebel's web site and the prices. We were planning on paying PER RIDE, expecting to spend roughly $20.

The website says that on May 27 the offer "Special School Picnic Rates"

Wooden Roller Coasters Included

Plan A - ride from 10 am - 6 pm $19.00

Plan B - any four-hour block $14.50

They DO NOT offer a Pay One Price option on that day or any other sort of package as far as I can see other than the "Special school picnic rates".

Is this "Special school picnic rate" available to ANYONE? Or do we have to be part of a "school picnic"?

On days that Knoebels sells wristbands you still have the option to use ride tickets.

My guess is that the wristbands are only available for students visiting from certain schools.

However, just to be on the safe side you might want to call their 1-800 number and check.

Hey Guys!

Part Deux starts in about a day!

We can still use some help. What rides tend to get the lines and what rides can we expect no lines. What are the best food choices in the parks and/or out of the parks. Any rides other than rollercoasters that are NOT TO MISS?

I'm sure you already know not to miss the flyers at Knobles!

Also, be sure to check out the Curse of DarKastle at BGE, it's a great ride (similar to Spiderman at IoA).

Have a great trip! It looks like you're going to have loads of fun!

TPDave,

For a moment, I thought you were telling me not to miss the Flying Turns at Knoebels (which definately won't be open this week). Arrg!

Also, it seems StormRunner might very well still be closed at HersheyPark, which bums me out. That was one of the rides I was most looking forward to!
