Kennyweird Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Post what rank you made it to in Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts. I'm currently Life, almost Eagle (the highest rank). I don't know what the ranks are for girl scouts, so if you are/were a girl scout, you'll have to elaborate.
Speeddeamon128 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I lasted 3 months in Cub Scouts before I quit However one of my best friends made Eagle Scout last weekend after 12 years!
spaceace12 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Have no idea....was in it for years, and then had to quit. Went back and got a job and had to quit again.
Sir Clinksalot Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Whatever Weeblo's is, or was. Do they have that anymore???
coolhandluke Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 ^Weblos is at the end of the Cub Scouting career. You cross over into Boy Scouts in your second year as a Weblos. I finished my Eagle's Scoutmaster conference 26 hours before my 18th birthday. My board of review wasn't until about 4 months after my birthday. But it still counts! Just squeezed in my Eagle. And I'm so glad I did.
Swimace Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I'm an Eagle Scout. That took a loooooong time. I did Philmont and National Jamboree as well.
astroworldfan1 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I'm three (of the hardest) Eagle required merit badges away from Eagle. -Tatum EDIT: I went to Seabase last Summer, and I do plan on going with my troop when they go to Philmont.
coolhandluke Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 ^^Ugh, I'm jealous. I was all set for Philmont, had the pack, boots, the payments sent, everything...and broke my ankle two months before the trip. Stupid high school volleyball. I still plan to make it out to the three main high adventures at some point though, Philmont being the most anticipated.
astroworldfan1 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 ^Seabase was amazing. That was the best decision of my entire life (so far). The best nights I've ever slept were when I slept on the beach. -Tatum "Go to Seabase"
Chris Benvenuto Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I'm an Eagle Scout. That took a loooooong time. I did Philmont and National Jamboree as well. I'm Eagle. Well, I didn't do National Jamboree due to the Alaskan dads passing away, I almost did it but I was freaking out due to that accident and was worried about homesickness to at that for when I went and I ended up not going at ALL. I've done Florida Sea Base, Philmont and Northern Tier up in Minnesota. And now, being 18 I'm an assistant Scoutmaster for our troop! W00T But just like someone said in this thread, Eagle TAKES alooonnnggg time folks, a lonnnngggg time!!
astroworldfan1 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I can't wait to go to National Jamboree! I'm so glad I decided to stay in Scouts. BTW, as Cub Scouts, did Six Flags ever do a Scout Day at their park in your state? SFNO hosted an annual Scout Day. -Tatum
AllenA07 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I went to a single cub scout meeting, so about 45 minutes.
Jds03 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Its funny this topic came up now. I just got star literally 2 days ago.
QueerRudie Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Life. Then I quit to Join choir, theater and um.... because I wouldn't have made it very much further... something about being 'queer'- LOL
Sir Clinksalot Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 ^Weblos is at the end of the Cub Scouting career. You cross over into Boy Scouts in your second year as a Weblos. Wow, thanks. I didn't realize I was in that long. Is there anything before Weblos??? I don't remember if I completed my first year, probably not though.
astroworldfan1 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 ^Here are the Cub Scout ranks in order: Bobcat (When you sign up) Tiger Cubs (1st grade) Wolves (2nd Grade) Bears (3rd Grade) Webelos 1 (4th Grade) Webelos 2 (5th Grade) Then you cross over to Boy Scouts. -Tatum
Sir Clinksalot Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 ^ But if you start in 4th grade, you'd start with Weeblo's 1 right??? I know I was in 4th grade, but don't remember about 5th. I certainly know I wasn't in for 4 years.
coolhandluke Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 ^^Don't forget Bobcat! Of course, that's basically "sign up, and read the oath and law. Congratulations." That is earned first thing on joining, regardless of age. And my troop did the Out Island package at Seabase a couple times. Based on what I've read and heard, that would be what I would prefer to do as well. Too bad for me I always did a summer mission trip during our troop's high adventure dates. That's how I missed Norther Tier, too. That's my lone regret from scouting--never making it on a high adventure. Oh well, I still got time EDIT: ^Yeah, you start at wherever your grade level is. Like me, I joined in 2nd grade as a Wolf. I never did (or could) get Tiger.
astroworldfan1 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 And plus, the guide for our Out Island Adventure (Sea Base) guide was HOT! I'll never forget Paige. She was sooo nice. -Tatum
USCoaster Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I am an Eagle Scout and I would have had a palm but the merit badge counselor for the last badge I needed was being a jerk and wouldn't sign the requirements even though I had completed everything. (Something about if his son was too lazy to finish it, no one would get it.) I never made it to any of the national scout camps, but I did go to the National Jamboree in 1993 and the World Jamboree in 1995 in the Netherlands. The site for the World Jamboree was located right next to Walabi Flevo so I spent the entire time watching El Condor. The main stage was right next to it (where the Intamin Hyper is now I think. I was never able to get over to the park because we had to have permission to leave the Jamboree site. I did make it to Tivoli and Bakken in Denmark during the tour we did before the Jamboree started.
gisco Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I'm an Eagle Scout w/Bronze Palm. I look back and kind of regret not staying in a little longer, picking up a couple more palms, going to Philmont and the National Jamboree. I made up for a little of it as an adult. I was an Asst. Scoutmaster for 7 years I headed up the advancement for my troop and helped 30+ young men achieve the rank of Eagle. Went to the 2001 National Jamboree as an Asst. Scoutmaster and have earned my Woodbadge beads. Right now I'm no longer involved with the troop. Lost a lot of interest once my son made Eagle and moved away to college. I still serve on a Risk Management committee for the council.
Hercules Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I made it to first year Bear in Cub Scouts, and then I quit.
Teacups Make Me Sick Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Boys Scouts is much more complex and difficult then the Girl Scouts. I made it to Senior Girl Scout (I think that is the highest rank)....it wasn't that impressive...all you have to do is be in the right age bracket...and poof...your the highest ranked girl scout. Unfortunately, we only had 3 meetings...I don't think our leader was very much into it.
Kennyweird Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 Is anybody here going to the 2010 National Jamboree?
