PhishyBrewer
Boomerang at Six Flags Marine World I don't know what happened, but I know that this didn't look right when I visited the park today. Did anyone hear anthing? Somethings wrong here... How much did I drink today? Hmm...

Angry_Gumball
one question I've wondered...how do they get the trains back into the station when it valleys away from cat walks or in between inversions?
maliboomer
It would be quite a task, I think on a boomerang they might attach the train to a cable and tow it up the hill then release it...
Jew
It's either getting pulled to somewhere it can complete the course or taken apart and put back together in the station.
PhishyBrewer
Since the train is between the cobra roll and the the loop, I believe they'll have to take it apart and out it back together again. Or maybe they'll just keep is shut down for the rest of the season. It is a Six Flags park after all.
Twister II
Its simple, they just take a crane, and move each car one by one back to the station where its reattaced again. Same happened with Mean Streak.
robbalvey
Yeah, I've seen that happen at Knott's before too. They had the ride back open in a couple of hours. Not sure how quick SFMW is, though! --Robb
phazan
what i wonder is how did it loose all that speed to not make it up the loop.
Twister II
Well probly because the chain lift didn't lift up. On the second spike, if you watch, the lift will pop up and down to catch the car. How ever if the lift did not pop up, the train would still have enough momentum to re-do the loop. Chances are the break were on, if they were off, it would valley in the cobra roll. coasters 4 me
But arent the chances of that happening pretty slim? Has Xclerator ever done a roll back?
SLUSHIE
But arent the chances of that happening pretty slim?Has Xclerator ever done a roll back? Yes, thats exactly why it doesn't happen all the time... Yes Xcelerator has done rollbacks.
Twister II
What about Hypersonic XLC? I dont see break fins on the lauch... I remember Boomerang at SFEG vallying...
ddaver177
Great pictures. I bet it stays closed for the rest of the season. It is SFMW after all.
phazan
so does anyone know how they would get it back? im really curious.
SharkTums
I think a bunch of people already answered your question! 2 Choices: 1. Crane to winch it to a position where it can either make it to the lift hill or back to the station. 2. Take Train apart and rebuild it in station! I would vote for #2, but that's after seeing Cedar Point take apart MF which had valleyed and get the ride back open the same day. VERY IMPRESSIVE. I would now expect the same from SFMW! RCoasterny
I don't know if Mean Streak uses a trailered design, or cars with articulated axles, but a PTC train and an Arrow/Vekoma train are two different designs. If Mean Streak uses trailered trains, they would have to start with the last car and work their way to the front when removing them from the track, then reverse for assembly. With the Arrow/Vekoma train, they start with the lead car and work their way to the last car in disassembly and then in reverse to reinstall it on the track. I think the PTC trains are more easier to remove and install onto the track. I remember watching Knoebels install the train for their former Whirlwind coaster and they installed the train in the section between the station and the lift hill. It took longer than a few hours because they had to install it on a sloped section of the track. RC!

When did MF Valley? Sure it has a 310ft drop and the highest point isnt 180ft? Right?
SharkTums
About 3 weeks after it opened...apparently it was the first ever valleying! It was pretty funny watching all of us coaster dorks at the front of the line leave, and the GP making fun of us...I do wonder how long they all stood there thinking the ride was going to open! Elissa "silly Intamin rides!" Alvey
bgwfreak
What about Hypersonic XLC? I dont see break fins on I don't think they've ever had a rollback. It's not as big a hill. And that thing has no problem getting over. It's got brakes on the vertical section going up to slow it down! The invertigo at SFA valleyed in the boomerang 2 years ago right after I had ridden it (about a week after I was there). There were people on it too! SharkTums
I'm pretty sure Hypersonic has rolled back several times! I'm sure Kip can enlighten us if he finds this thread. Elissa "I think I even saw it roll back once!" Alvey
robbalvey
Yeah, Hypersonic has rolled back a LOT! I remember being there for media day, that's pretty much all the damn thing did! --Robb
Meteornotes
^And remember, there was a FOUR HOUR line for Hypersonic at the media day! Which is why Robb & I chose to ride Hurler and Rebel Yell the whole time. And in all my visits to PKD, those two coasters NEVER ran better than they did that night! Still one of the best nights of rides ever... dt
Froggies111
I wonder if they can't --for some reason-- get the chain or take it apart and they have to push it themselves... that would be some funny stuff there!
Mind Eraser
I think it's safe to say that Hypersonic rolls back at least once a day. Hypersonic has even gotten STUCK AT THE TOP. My friend caught that on video. The train somehow balanced up there. How cool would it be to be on that cycle? I love Hypersonic; Dodonpa must be killer. -kip-
