XYZ
What is the big difference between Burger King and McDonalds that can lead so many people to hate one and love the other? It's because there are 2 people in the world: McDonald's people and Burger King people, if you don't know which group you belong too, you're just confused. Philrad71
Anyone Remember Red Barn Restaurants? Wow..talk about a blast from the past! We had one right here in Jamestown, but I don't really remember the food...only the red barn. It's actually still there, but it is now a tanning and nail salon, I believe. 805Andrew
^^^There's also In-N-Out people for those that live in CA. I know a LOT of people that love In-N-Out but avoid McD's and BK. I also know a few people that don't like In-N-Out but like McD's and/or BK (like my Grandma). I also know Taco Bell people and Jack In The Box people (to a lesser extent) as these two chains are open the latest in my area. As for me, I'll go with Robb's scale (on page 1): My "1" chains: In-N-Out El Pollo Loco Sonic (for the drinks and shakes) The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (I'm counting quick serve coffee chains too) Jamba Juice (I'll count this smoothie chain too, plus its from my area ) Wing Stop Panera Bread Chipotle Panda Express Pans & Company (in Spain) My "2" chains: Fatburger The Habit Burger Grill Original Tommy's Hamburgers Starbucks Peet's Coffee & Tea Krispy Kreme Dunkin Donuts (When are they going to bring them out West?) Dutch Bros. Coffee Tully's Coffee Del Taco The Pita Pit Baja Fresh Popeye's Chicken Lee's Sandwiches Quickly McDonalds (outside the USA and breakfast in the USA) Carl's Jr. Jack in the Box Wendy's Sonic (for the food) Quizno's My "3" chains: McDonalds (in the USA) Fuddruckers Foster's Freeze Tastee Freez Dairy Queen L&L Hawaiian BBQ Schlotzsky's Deli Qdoba Red Brick Pizza Papa John's Pizza Arby's Chick Fil A KFC Taco Bell Wienerschnitzel Subway (the toasted, made to order subs) Bocatta (in Spain) Telepizza (in Spain) My "4" chains: Burger King (some locations are alright but not the one in my town) A & W (the root beer is great but the food is "meh") Domino's Pizza (the wings are alright) Taco Time My "5" chains: Subway (the untoasted, catering subs) Long John Silvers (The worst fast food I've ever had) Chains I want to try but haven't yet: Five Guys Burgers and Fries White Castle Church's Chicken Boston Market -Andrew "I'm not too picky but I'll never eat in Long John Silvers again" Rector Edited September 9, 2011 by 805Andrew
rcdude
I don't think I've put my list up here before, so I'll go ahead and post it. I don't have any specific rankings within each category. Also, I'm not counting pizza places on this list. My favorites: -Carl's Jr. -Fatburger -In-N-Out Burger Places I like a lot: -Chick-Fil-A -Dairy Queen -El Pollo Loco -KFC -McDonald's -Steak n' Shake -Ted's Place -Taco Bell (dine-in only, one category lower when taken home) -Wendy's -Wienerschnitzel Places I'm okay with, but am not a huge fan of: -A&W Restaurant (one category higher if going only for root beer floats) -Baja Fresh Mexican Grill -Del Taco -Five Guys Burgers and Fries -Jack-In-The-Box -Panera Bread -Pizza Hut -Quiznos -Sharky's Woodfired Mexican Grill -Sonic Drive-In -Wahoo's Fish Tacos Places I'll only eat at when nothing else is available: -Hot Dog on a Stick -Long John Silver's -Rubio's Fresh Mexican Grill -Subway I'd rather skip lunch/dinner: -Burger King -Panda Express (note: I don't like Asian food in general) I may have left off a few places that I haven't been to in a while (a couple years), but I think this is pretty much everywhere I've been. RollerCoasterSmi
I don't go often but the ones I have been to in descending order are: Shakeaway Pizza Hut Frankie & Benny’s Subway McDonalds Domino’s Pizza Gregg’s Krispy Kreme Starbucks YO! Sushi KFC Burger King Little Chef I haven't heard of most of the USA ones, also looking at the Wikipedia list, I haven't heard of most of the UK ones either! Also about a year ago my Dad brought me back the infamous Stonner Kebab from Glasgow (sausage, wrapped in donner kebab meat and deep fried!) Just 1,000 calories. I got about halfway through... Stonner Kebab (Sausage wrapped in donner meat and deep fried... YUM!)
schotj
The only fast food restaurant I really go to is Subway. The rest are just nasty to me....so unhealthy and really low quality food. I'll really only hit up Subway if I'm on the road and I need a quick bite to eat. I am a victim of Dunkin' Donuts when I want coffee though. Their iced coffee is really good. imawesome1124
We don't really eat out that much, at any restaurant. But the places I like are (in no particular order): Arby's (don't hate) Popeyes Dominoes KFC Quiznos McDonald's (only for breakfast) I will absolutely never eat at Subway, Wendy's, Long John Silver's (I don't like seafood). Movieguy
McDonald's (only for breakfast). Here here. Whenever I'm driving to the park I'm visiting for the summer, I always make it a point to go through a McDonalds for a couple of sausage and egg biscuits and some hash browns. Never really been a fan of their non-breakfast items, apart from the fries.
ginzo
I make a point of hitting McDonald's for breakfast when I'm on the road even when the hotel includes a free breakfast. Free hotel breakfasts gross me out. Not a fan of lukewarm eggs.
Movieguy
Yeah, I don't go for hotel breakfasts. It's a good thing the one I'm staying at in Bloomsburg has a Cracker Barrel nearby. That's where I had my Birthday breakfast last year.

Philrad71
Yeah, I don't go for hotel breakfasts. It's a good thing the one I'm staying at in Bloomsburg has a Cracker Barrel nearby. That's where I had my Birthday breakfast last year. I wish that the hotel breakfasts were like the one's in Europe...you're right that most US hotel breakfasts are pretty disgusting these days. Hampton Inn's aren't too bad, but if we stay at a cheaper hotel chain, we usually avoid them and go to a Bob Evans, Cracker Barrel or a local diner if there is one nearby. PS - I do about five visits to fast food chains a year (other than Subway)...this is usually when we are on road trips and it is normally a McDonalds or Wendys. ginzo
I wish that the hotel breakfasts were like the one's in Europe... In Europe it's even more important to steer clear of mediocre hotel breakfasts. You're going to need that stomach space later for good food. If I'm in Italy, for example, I'll just grab a cappuccino and a pastry at a local cafe. Then I'll have a giant lunch. One exception to this is that some of the family-run B&Bs in Europe actually do great breakfasts. One place in Bruges served probably the finest breakfast I've ever had. Philrad71
^ We must have lucked out the hotels we stayed at in Italy and Germany as they were all what I would consider excellent compared with some of the crap you get at American continental breakfasts these days. The variety of fruits, cheeses, meats, veggies, breads & pastries were phenomenal compared to lukewarm eggs out of a carton, greasy ass bacon (most have figured out how to screw up bacon even though I didn't think it was humanly possible), lame cereal you wouldn't eat otherwise, bad, bad coffee and maybe two styles of juice (apple and orange). If we are in a hurry and eat an American hotel breaksfast, I play it safe & stick with a piece of toast or bagel w/cream cheese, a pre-packaged yogurt and some juice (or water). ginzo
^But excellent compared to all the other food options that await you in Italy? Probably not. That's why I don't bother to even look at what the hotel offers when I'm in that country. Instead, I'm obsessively planning out all my lunches and dinners with carefully selected spots. But I guess I'm weird that way because I spend insane amounts of time picking out places to eat when I plan trips.
