TPR TV or CoasterTube

Recommended Posts

ummm...anyway, about the topic...

Robb are you going for an additional domain name just for the video segment? If so, wouldn't it be possible to have a link for, say www.tprtv.com AND www.coastertube.com and have them both direct to the same page? I think that would be the best way to do things, because I'm SURE if you go with TPR TV, somebody else will steal the coastertube idea!!!!

^ Well, as you can see if you click on them, both of those links do redirect to TPR TV.

The biggest problem if we call it "CoasterTube" and it directs to TPR TV is that there is confusion about the branding. You have to remember that everyone on this site will know exactly what is going on because we all know what TPR is. To someone who does not know what TPR is, it could be very confusing.

The other issue is that if we go with the TPR TV name with CoasterTube.com directing to it, then all the URL's will still be /tprtv/movietitle.html and the search engine won't pick that up as easily if the world "coaster" was in the name of it.

This is all mostly about search engine optimization and branding. Trust me, I've been going back and forth on this now for about a month and I'm still not quite sure what to do.

Either way, I think once all the bugs get fixed in the application I think it will be a very good system for watching coaster videos.

I prefer TPR TV. Coaster Tube sounds too generic. There are hundreds of Coaster this and Coaster that all over the internets.

When I see TPR, I know its automatically going to be better than all the other coaster stuff. Plus, I think TPR represents way, way more than just coasters.

"TPR" is an institution. Keep it in the name.

^ You have to remember though that even if we call it "CoasterTube" it will still be under the TPR Banner.

"CoasterTube" would look exactly like this:

www.themeparkreview.com/tprtv

except with a "CoasterTube" logo in the corner instead of TPR TV.

and the url would be:

www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/

^ I still have to decide what I want to do. This poll wasn't really to determine a winner, but to give me some feedback on what everyone thinks about the two names.

I may still go with "CoasterTube" but I just don't know yet. If anything, this thread has made it so I'm going to put more thought it into what the final name will be.

hahaha I didn't even know that BOTH of those links worked when I posted my comment! Wouldn't you be able to have both of those links work on a search engine with 'hidden' link names? I know its a TERRIBLE example, but much in the way that, say, pr0n engines link their sites?

I really think that a more 'generic' branding that links back to TPR can only bring more publicity to this fantastic site. By having the 'coaster' branding name to the TV segment of the site, it will bring in additional viewers to it. If, once they click the link, they see the TPR references, they will possibly be curious about what else is involved with the site.

While TPR is a site on theme parks in general, I think we can all agree that coasters are the primary focus. Otherwise, we wouldn't really refer to 'credits' as, well, you know, credits

First off, Robb, an awesome site!

Personal thoughts:

-If you're searching for a coaster POV or video, you're most likely a coaster-oholic.

-If you are a coaster-oholic, you will most likely try to find every piece of information available and click on any link, especially if it is well placed in the search engine, which TPR always is in -- usually in a top four position from my experience.

-If the name isn't familiar, I would personally read the description, which I'm sure would be tagged to capture "Theme Park Review TV", making it obvious that I can find coaster and other related content in there.

-Ensuring that TPR is in the name will really build brand strength because honestly, coaster-oholics will potentially click on all links and when clicking on TPR TV, will discover the quality of both the site and content and I'm sure the site will allow people who discover it to interchange TPR TV as Theme Park Review TV.

-Having TPR in the name also says that it isn't all about coasters, which I think is a good thing as I'd for sure want to stay and search for different types of content related to the industry.

Anyways, after all that yes, I'm a coaster and theme park-oholic and I did choose TPR TV. Have you thought of TP TV?

Wishing you much success with the new site, regardless of what it will end up being called.

As you said "TPR TV" does have a better ring to it.

Did a quick check on google with "coaster video", "coaster videos", roller coaster video", "roller coaster videos" & "coaster POV".

TPR came up first in 3 of the 5, second in the other 2, and those were the ones that said "videos" (plural).

With google using a description underneath it's findings, people will realize that they have found what they are looking for.

"TPR TV" says a lot and definitely sounds better.

TPR TV.

CoasterTube limits you to coaster videos.

I worked really hard on it- hope you like it!

I personally don't really like bevels and gradients much, but I think this image suits the site extremely well, gives it a carnival-esque atmosphere and also looks sharp. I did, rather than letting each character be it's own identity modify the font on 'TPR' to combine it into one element.

Not asking you to use it, not at all, just thought you might like it, and it might help with some ideas.

I voted for TPR TV, becuase I think it sounds better and fits more with the rest of the site (this just being TPR)

When searching on Google CoasterTube is a better name, but as Calaway Park says the name has some limits. And I think that if you put in the correct Metatags and discriptions TPR TV will do the trick good on Google/Yahoo etc.

Ok everyone!

So I need a little bit of help here....

So I've decied to stay with "TPR TV" but I would like to include the words "CoasterTube" in some kind of a subtitle.

For example, YouTube is "YouTube: Broadcast Yourself" and Vimeno is "Vimeno: Video Sharing For You", etc, etc...

I'd like it to be a short subtitle, no more than 4 or 5 words and if possible help it be a decriptor to TPR TV since anyone outside of TPR will have no idea what that is.

I would like it to be something like "TPR TV: The Internet's CoasterTube", "TPR TV: CoasterTube for Theme Park Geeks" or something like that.

Please help us out!
