kat11joe Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 Silly question but i was curious about how the prices are at McDonalds in Europe, Japan and other countries you visited. Are they more expensive/cheaper than the US? Thanks!
SharkTums Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Good question! Actually except for France they seemed pretty much on par with SoCal even with the exchange rate. In France a Value Meal was like 7 euro though which was quite expensive. Also in Europe, what would be a large to us was a medium to them, so if you wanted more food you'd have to pay more. This was the same case in Japan. Smaller Portion sizes, and a little bit more money but not much. Elissa "I miss $0.29 Hamburger Tuesdays in Florida!" Alvey
SharkTums Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Yes, all of the countries did! Elissa "that's where I got my hamburgers!" Alvey
benzo41190 Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Thats cool I always get a McChicken, Fries, Soda for like $3.17.
CreativeForce Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 When we were in the UK last year, the prices looked about the same but with the exchange rate of the dollar to the pound, the actual prices were almost double! Outside of London it wasn't quite so bad, but the UK is defintly not cheap.
switch_79 Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 what about japan's rendition of the dollar menu? was it like a 100 yen menu? that would still be over a dollar here, but it's my best guess.
robbalvey Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 ^ Yes. In fact they had "dollar stores" that were litterally called the "100 Yen" stores:
Jew Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 The 1 Euro chicken burgers in Germany ruled! Chicken Patty+Jack in the Box taco sauce=heaven!
mikrowave Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 ^ Yes. In fact they had "dollar stores" that were litterally called the "100 Yen" stores: I loved those stores so much, you could pretty much do your whole shopping there!
moinab Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 Elissa "I miss $0.29 Hamburger Tuesdays in Florida!" Alvey Wow! Where do they have those? Maureen "they're $0.49 hamburger Wednesdays here" O'Donnell
Nosferatu Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 You didn't go to McDonalds in Norway then. A Big Mac coasts about 6$. 10$ for a meal. Its cheaper, but not that much in Denmark and Sweden I think.
SharkTums Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 ^^We had it in Gainesville...I guess they figure in a college town we can't afford much more!
kat11joe Posted July 26, 2005 Author Posted July 26, 2005 Several of the McDonalds in my area used to have 29 cent hamburger wednesdays and 39 cent cheeseburger sundays. They don't anymore unfortunately Probably cause alot of people were ordering them 20 at a time
ebl Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Right now, in our area at least, they're doing $1 Chicken McNugget Tuesdays. Earlier this year, they did $1 Filet-O-Fish Fridays, but that didn't last very long. Eric
thunder001 Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 We have never had the One dollar menu here in Oz, but the meals start at just over $5 for a small meal, and up to $6 for a large meal. The burgers are around the $3 - $4 each.
DutchCoasterFan Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 One thing I´ve to say . . . Burger King is so much better!
it Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 One thing I´ve to say . . . Burger King is so much better! Yeah I love tender crisp spicy sandwiches!
coasters 4 me Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 Burger king in the UK is like £4 and McDonalds is like £3. I like Burger King though. Maybe I should do a favourite fast food topic!
SharkTums Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 ^Pretty sure we already have one in the Random Thread!
BarryH Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 Hey, did you ever find out what a Quarter Pounder was called in France? I hope you took a photo!
