What Video Game Console do you own?

With the current generation consoles coming down in price, it seems that a lot of people have multiple systems, and for all different reasons.

 

What Video Game Console do you own? and why? What are your favorite games, or favorite genre of games?

 

We have all three. Here is what we play the most on each one:

 

GameCube: Mario games - Mario Party, Mario Kart, Mario Golf, etc.

PS2: Katamari Damacy, Taiko No Tatsujin (the Japanese version of Taiko Drum Master)

XBOX: MAME games! Yay classic 1980s arcade games!

Mostly I play:

 

Game Cube - Call of Duty, Need for speed underground 2, Mario Party and Mario Kart

PS2 - Prince of Persia - Warrior Within and Grand Theft Auto - San Andreas

Honestly the game that I have played the most on any system would have to be Monster Hunter. I don't know how many of you have even looked at this because it wasn't advertised much and the review scores were pretty abysmal. It really is a very unique game though as it puts you up against some amazingly powerful beasts in the game and you are actually pushed to beat them often. Instead of most games where you can rely on levels to boost your stats you have to rely on your wits and you equipment. Monster Hunter has kept me busy for a good 72 hours now and with all the online action I have yet to do I will probably see at least double that out of it. Take a look at the videos on Gametrailers.com it is an absolute blast that can be played for 30 minutes or a couple of hours a night.Pimping Mode>

 

I highly suggest anyone interested takes a look around as it can be found at some stores for $20 and others for $30 but it is disappearing quickly and unlikely to get another printing.

 

Oh yeah I love my PS2 and GC. My PS2 currently has over 90 games (most purchased for well under $50).

I own PS2 and Xbox, I only use my PS2 for DDR and GTA SA. The only thing I hate about the PS2 is the memory cards.

I only have a PS2 right now, but I'm planning to get a Gamecube later this year. I currently have 169 games for the PS2. My current favorites to play are Katamari Damacy, Stuntman and Hot Shots Golf 3. I like all genres of games with the exception of FPS games because I'm absolutely terrible at them.

We too have all three current systems. As for the games I currently play the most: PS2 (GTA San Andres, Atari Anthology), X-Box (Project Gotham Racing 2, Driv3r), Gamecube (Sonic games). As good as those systems are, I really enjoy my Atari systems (2600 and 5200) and Intellivision. Does anyone else enjoy the old school consoles/games? Maybe this should be a new thread.

 

Robb, please give me more info on MAME for X-Box. I know there are a few ways, but what have you found to be the best.

I have a GameCube and some older systems (Dreamcast, PS1, ect). On my GC, I most commonly play Capcom vs SNK2, Smash Bros Melee, Super Monkey Ball 2 (especially when friends are over) and so on...My cousin (lives in same house) has PS2 but all 1 player games.

 

Every once in a while, we will whip out the hard plastic DDR Pads and do some DDR until we poop out.

I´ve only the X-Box. the main reason is, that you can play with 4players and that you don´t need memory cards.

Another reason is, that there are some cool shooter games that you can´t get for other systems.

Hello, I am a big video game player but I have none of the systems of the pool as I'm a retro gamer :

 

- NINTENDO Game Boy (the first one !)

- NINTENDO Super Famicom (japanese version of Super Nes)

- NEC PC Engine (japanese version of Turbo Graphx)

- NEC Core Graphx II (the latest version of the PC Engine)

- BIP BIP 4 (a very old system to play a black and white pong clone on TV)

 

I have also a HANAHO HotRod SE joystick to play arcade games with MAME (do you remember that time where you played arcade games with a stick and some buttons ?)

I love vertical scrolling shoot them up (Gunhed, Super Star Soldier, Dragon Spirit, ...) and multi players games (up to 5 players on NEC systems) such as Bomberman, World Jockey, Power Sports, Moto Roader II, Final Match Tennis, Formation Soccer, ...

 

I tried to play modern 3D games but I still prefer good old school games.

I whish I had some arcade cabinets at home.....

I have a PS2 and a PSP. 8)

 

I first bought the PS2 for GT3, then the GTA games, and now GT4.

And in between those, MGS.

The PSP, well, an Archos videoplayer is expensive, add a PS2 gameconsole to it and some extra functionality and the 300 dollar PSP price isn't that expensive.

Lumines is a great puzzle game, and Ridge Racers equals console-quality.

 

As for xbox and gamecube, no games that make me say "I need an xbox/gamecube, now." I might buy a gamecube this year, Paper Mario and Resident Evil would be worth it though. Especially now that the price is about that of a game.

I've got PS2,GC,and 2x xboxes(one moded, the other clean for Xbox live).

 

PS2 isn't hooked up anymore. Not too much to interest me there.

 

GC was a huge dissapointment. Every game except for Mario Sunshine I found overhyped.

 

Xbox is for Halo2 on xbox live. It's pretty much all I play now. It's jus awesome. the online play sure made up for a let down of a single player.

Seriously with the love of crazy Japanese games here where is the love. $20 people, $20 is all you need to buy into this crazy happy funfest. Better than a cat better than a dog better than that thing you found under your sofa last week... Yes it's Katamari Damacy. Full of crazy happy go fun wondergraphics and featuring state of the art sticky crazy ball physics Katamari Damacy is a true tour de force. Yes you aren't truly a gamer until you have rolled up your first skyscraper in the passionate pursuit of refilling the sky with stars.

 

Yes friends this is truly a unique game scoring an average of 86% on gamerankings

 

If that isn't enough for you to want to go check out this game you should pluck out your nose hairs with a pair of barbecue tongs because well I don't have a reason... But here is a movie from gametrailers...

 

Oh and did I mention that it has one of the best soundtracks in a game ever featuring an eccentric mix of different varietys so everyone should find something they like.

 

So run don't walk to your local game emporium and ask them for a copy of Katamari Damacy and if they don't have it please feel free to slap them with a fish.

 

 

(I apologize for the length and the craziness of the post... But honestly it is in line with the sheer happy craziness that is this game. Please give it a try. Oh and if you have OPM I believe the Feb issue had a very small demo which will give you some idea of the play mechanics but remember that it is nothing compared to the full game. Just get back to me when you roll up your first cloud )
