wrs28330
So the last time I went to the fair, I was a kid. Boy is it a different place when you are older. Is there really a need to have a beer stand every 50 feet? We were able to do and see everything we wanted to in 6 hours. I went with my brother Frank and friends Joe and Jen. We had a great time! Enjoy, William And finally we conclude with the history of the Dunce cap. And what I call the "slice 'em/dice 'em" exhibits. They had every device you could ever imagine glamorized in a decieving way. "You need this mop!" says the surfer dude who "uses this mop every day at home!". Yeah, believeable. So many choices. Frank tries a cow pie. See, cow pies do happen Every preserved food imaginable Let us eat cake! Mmm...week old breads! I didn't know that table setting was an artform... There is more than meets the eye. There were hidden objects in the stitching. Now for the artsy section of the TR. Butt naked incents anyone? We all know the fair is famous for every type of food on a stick, but manaquin on a stick? There is always something new. It was full of sugary goodness! And the 2nd reason for comming to the fair, deep fried Snicker bars! They had a small pirate themed acrobat show, which was slightly entertaining. It was worth seeing. Joe lost. I won! Wahoo! I got my money back plus an extra $1.20! Next up was one of my family traditions. As a joke, my dad always bet $3 on #3 in the 3rd race to Show (3rd place) And of course I say that it tastes like chicken...but doesn't everything? $12.50 One of the reasons for the trip was for the deep fried frog legs. Look what I found! The minerature train area is one of the places I remember as a kid. Which shirt best fits Robb? An Elissa approved event The pig torturing device. The token "Insert your own comment here" picture. Ooh... Forget the veggies kids, eat more meat! "I'll take this one!" In California, we wash our hands before we pet the animals, not after. Yes it does! As a kid, you don't notice all the beer stands, but damn, do they really need a stand every 100 feet? Lets start off with a beer...not! Frank's not even 18... Hill billy Will Welcome to the Fair!
DarkStitch626
Thats a cool trip report and all but this leaves half of us laughing at a few innuendo's despite not even stating there is an innuendo about the "Big banana" with "nuts" lol. That left me actually close to falling out of my chair laughing. Great PTR to be honest.
montezooma
Hey thanks for the pics and preview! I am heading there tomorrow. Can't wait for those snicker bars!
Mr Stratosphere
Thanks for sharing! Great trip report, In Vegas we don't really get anything like this, only the San Gennaro Feast, an Italian Festival that happens two times a year, showcasing FOOD, and some rides and attractions, but not much. dino
^^^lol! I was thinking the same thing about the big banana, but thought I was just being a pervert. At least someone elses said something first. Cool TR, I've been waiting for someone to put one up of the Fair. I usually do it every year, but this time was a no-go. So I figured I would just live vicariously through someone elses TR. Thanks for the pics, but no deep-fried oreos...? Shame on you.

ebl
"And of course I say that it tastes like chicken...but doesn't everything?" Not anything at KFC... My wife was going to take her mom last week and got her a ticket, but Mom decided to stay home with her ailing hubby. Now we have an extra ticket, so I may go on Sunday. hansrubens
What's wrong with a beer stand every 100 feet.... maybe you will ran out of beer or something. Frank come to europe you can drink here when you're 16. ---Hans
Skramp
Looks like fun, the Ohio State Fair was the same way, but they had every crappy walk through rid you could have. They also had all the crappy sideshow acts. I gotta say though, that Disney quilt looked amazing, would have been cool to see it in person and look for all the hidden stitching patterns. Very creative.
ratdogg68
Great Fair PTR, nice to see different things a fair has to offer. I go to the Ky. State Fair twice a year. First visit I check it all out, quilts, shows, displays, animals and the midway. Second visit I go and get drunk and ride the rides. A fair isn't a fair without all that fried, fatty, sweet, delicious food. Glad you had a good time.

Very creative. There were many really cool craft things to see. I'll post some more of those with the next day or two. X_X Just looking at american food is giving me a heart attack. It would be worth a heart attack.
thrillgeek
Nice report. Thanks for sharing. It seems fairs are becoming less and less about the rides and more for the beer and food. Yeah the foods good but not worth the money.
Jew
The best food at the fair was the Fresh Mexican Churros! That stand also had chocolate covered bacon. And the best beer at the fair was the Stuff from the competition they had for tasting in one of the buildings. Most of the stands were Busch products. wrs28330
I'm not really a beer person, but I think next time i might do some wine tasting. It is interesting to hear what other people find the most interesting at the fairs.
